But Dr. Javdan was confident that he could help me, and he was absolutely right! My teeth were pretty stubborn, but he kept working with me and helped me get the smile I always wanted. I used to hide my teeth when I smiled, but now I can proudly show my smile! He also saved one of my teeth without me having to go through a root canal. When I needed bonding to protect my tooth from future damage, he did it so quickly and did an amazing job. You might find a cheaper dentist and think you're saving money, but honestly, in the long run, I think Dr. Javdan will save your teeth and save you money from having to deal with bigger problems later. I highly, highly recommend him! I'm so happy I found him and I'm very grateful for everything he has done for my teeth.

I scheduled the deep cleaning first, but on the day of the appointment the dentist repeatedly told me that the crowns were much more important and strongly recommended doing them first instead. I felt pressured into changing my treatment plan that day, and I agreed. The crown procedure ended up taking about 3.5 hours. During the appointment, I was moved from one room to another because they needed an X-ray machine that was only available in a different room. I was left waiting there for a while before being moved back. The entire process felt disorganized and unprofessional. What bothered me even more was that after one tooth had already been drilled and while I was still numb in the chair, someone from the front desk came into the treatment room to collect payment while I'm in the middle of the procedure. It felt like the financial aspect of the visit was being prioritized over patient care by miles. The office itself also raised concerns. The dental chair I was in couldn't be lowered because it was broken, and one of the staff members laughed and commented that it had been that way for about a year. That did not inspire confidence. Looking back, there were other interactions that also made me uncomfortable. During my very first appointment, the dentist asked how much I pay for my dental insurance because he questioned the quality of my plan. I didn't think much of it at the time, but in hindsight it felt unrelated to my care. Before the crowns, I was told the sensitivity should resolve within about two weeks. Two months later, I was still experiencing significant sensitivity, so I returned for a follow-up. I told the dentist I was worried the tooth under the crown might be exposed. Instead of addressing that concern directly, he told me I should be happy because the sensitivity meant the nerve was still alive. While that may be true from a clinical perspective, it did not address why I was still in pain or ease my concerns. I also wish I had been better informed about the risks of placing crowns on teeth with deep decay. I was told the crowns were intended to help prevent root canals, but I was not informed beforehand that a tooth can still become inflamed after such a procedure and may eventually require root canal treatment despite the crown. Knowing that possibility in advance would have helped me make a more informed decision. At that same follow-up visit, while my concerns about the crowns had still not been resolved, I was asked whether I wanted to have a filling done on another tooth. That felt poorly timed and reinforced my impression that additional treatment was being prioritized before addressing my existing issue. Another thing that stood out to me was how often the dentist seemed to reference my treatment plan and the associated charges during my visits. It gave me the impression that the financial side of my case was constantly top of mind. Before the crowns, I repeatedly asked whether my Invisalign retainers would still fit afterward. I explained that they were plastic and couldn't simply be adjusted if the shape of my teeth changed. Each time, I was assured they would either continue to fit or be adjusted if necessary. As I feared, the retainers no longer fit after the crowns were placed. When I brought this up, instead of honoring the assurances I had been given, I was told I would need to pay about $300 for a replacement retainer. That was extremely frustrating and made me feel that my concerns had not been taken seriously from the beginning. One final observation: I may have misheard, so I cannot state this as fact, but I thought I overheard one of the dentists asking a patient out on a date. If that is what I heard, I found it inappropriate. To be fair, I also take responsibility for my own decisions. I could have asked more questions, taken more time to think, or declined treatment that day. However, I expect a healthcare provider to respect a patient's treatment plan, provide thorough informed consent, and make the patient's interests feel like the priority. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I left feeling that the practice placed too much emphasis on production and too little on patient-centered care. I will not be returning.

Unfortunately, Dr. Goodman, who has a background working in clinics, runs his Beverly Hills practice as if it's a clinic, too. He flits about between too many patients and has his assistants finish up procedures. Which wouldn't be okay, even if they didn't mess up. Which they did, a mistake compounded by the good doctor not being particularly interested. Details below. Dr. Goodman was all attentive at first when he saw that my veneers were old, even texting me from out of town that he was thinking about me. Once he found out I had no intention of getting new veneers but was only there for the emergency, he told me that I had eight cavities (which no one else has been able to find). However, when I didn't bite on getting any more work done, the doctor seemed to lose interest in me. I texted him that the first area he'd worked on was still in pain, and suggested it was perhaps due to some excess cement (which my endodonist later removed after Dr. Goodman failed to address my complaints). The cement meanwhile pushed my tooth to the side, leaving a gap that traps large amounts of food that push on the already sore tooth quite painfully and are difficult to get out. I could go on about how during treatment Dr. Goodman slammed my mouth shut down on my numbed tongue twice -- the second after I'd complained about having bitten down something. Or how his office called me in twice for the same crown, which I only found out about after waiting for over two hours in the sagging couches in the reception area. Or how he berated his front office in front of everyone for messing up. But I'll just cut to where I am now, eating soft food, $40,000 out of pocket so far in costs to endodontist, anesthegiologist, and two maxilofacial pain specialists. I may not be able to afford the recommended next course of treatment involving putting a new implant and crown in and I may have to settle for pulling the tooth out. Dr. Goodman won't be doing it. He has messed up his last tooth in my mouth. Someone else will fix the mess.

The dentist told me that repairing the tooth was unlikely but possible, and that extraction was the more likely outcome. I was fine with those possibilities and expected that he would examine the tooth and then let me decide how to proceed. I was quoted approximately $4,000 for an extraction and implant, or $1,200 to repair the crown--even with insurance. I thought, "Fair enough, let's see if the tooth can be saved." This is where things got strange. The dentist never actually examined the tooth beyond looking at the X-ray. He was unwilling to remove the crown, which I had temporarily reattached with dental cement, in order to properly evaluate the tooth. Instead, it felt like the focus immediately shifted to getting me to commit to the $4,000 treatment plan. When I asked for an examination, I could hear him raising his voice to the receptionist in the hallway, and I felt pressured to make a decision on the spot. They also recommended repairing two fillings and quoted another $1,000 for that work. I have dental insurance, and I've also paid cash for dental work elsewhere, so I have a reasonable basis for comparison. This experience felt unusually sales-driven and uncomfortable. The dentist was rude, dismissive, and repeatedly spoke about my mouth as if it were in terrible condition. I've never had a dentist speak to me that way before. The entire interaction felt more like a scare tactic than a genuine effort to explain my options and help me make an informed decision. I have been wearing a flipper to hide the gaps. All the options presented to me by dentists I had seen thus far were either too expensive or invasive. Dr Daniel suggested a Maryland Bridge, which I had never heard of. I immediately agreed, but he encouraged me not to rush. Elise came in to tag team with him and was absolutely regal and warm, not easy to pull off as you measure all kinds of icky necessary measurements.
