Sarge's Subs is amazing. I have no idea why you would venture over to Jersey Mike's or Subway, when Sarge's sandwiches are not only higher quality, and more tasteful, but actually less expensive! You get more way more meat and bread for less money. Those franchise places lack any joy or flavor. Honestly, if this place is within driving or walking distance and you choose to go to Subway or Jersey Mike's instead, you need to be committed. We went to Sarge's Subs a few days ago. I ordered the Flyboy Fancy Sub (Chicken Parmigiana) and the portion was worth the price you pay. The woman behind the counter when we came to pick up the order, she was incredibly sweet. As we were waiting on one more sub order, she's explaining to us the two large subs we got, comes with 4 sodas and 4 chips. We opted to get their 2 homemade drinks and get 2 bags of chips instead. She was very welcoming when we chatted while waiting. The atmosphere was awesome, lots to look around. We wanted to check it out if we stayed longer next time because the inside of the establishment had so much character. My Flyboy Fancy Sub was okay. The bread was toasted a little too long and the Chicken Parmigiana is made with the breaded chicken cut up in the cheese and sauce. ( my preference, I like the whole breaded Chicken more when I try Chicken Parmigiana). I couldn't finish the sub and saved it for the next day. Their homemade drink was good, I suggest you try their drinks instead of the regular sodas you see all the time. I want to try a cold sub next time. Comfortable and chill establishment, friendly and sweet service, lots of food options, parking was available around the corner and there is available seating outside. it was raining and I was with my toddler and infant. We were going to wait it out underneath sarge's awning. When what I'm guessing was the owner (Peter) said we could wait inside, he was there early to fulfill a catering order. We were so grateful for his kindness, my daughter was in her glory playing with the kids books, toy soldiers and fighter Jets. This is my go-to lunch spot! My order is always the same so I can't speak go too many of the menu items (although I'm certain they are just as good). My go-to menu item is the Sniper's Surprise (Turkey & Cheese). I get a regular (6in) sub with Turkey, American cheese, tomatoes, black olives, mayo, salt, and pepper. Yummy! I've ordered subs from here a few times, and it has never been. disappointing. Firstly, their pricing is very reasonable. They do a three sub special that comes with chips and soda. They always give me a ton of oil and vinegar, the staff is very friendly, and they are happy to deliver (and always on time). The potato salad and macaroni salads are always on point too. I am only giving this one star because it isn't possible to have none. Contrary to most of the reviews I found this place to be awful. We ordered two #1's for delivery today, never again! The bread was stale and tasteless, one slice of each meat and one slice of provolone. We asked for oil and vinegar and it was barely drizzled on. It's a sin that they serve these kind of subs/heros/hoagies. First off the bread is horrible. It's kind of like the prepackaged ones you get at the supermarket. They're not in a rush to get you off the phone but instead take their time to let you know their recommendations and I really really appreciated that. Simply the best sub shop I've eaten from! I'm very lucky to be a stone's throw from this place and frequent it often. Everything on the menu is great, but I'm partial to the Flight Commander. They also have excellent chili and macaroni salad! Please support this quality small business over the chain joints in the area. A few useful things to know about Sarge's: 1. The giant size is double the size of the regular size and can easily feed two adults. 2. The have a killer lunch special for under $7. 3. Make sure you get your loyalty card and stamps. This review isn't for the subs. Regretfully, I was not able to try them . Unfortunately, when my partner and I parked our car in the Sarge's parking lot and while she went to grab pizza next door and while I was getting ready to go into Sarges to order a sub for for our party, we were met with an older gentleman who started harassing my partner. Though I'm sure the food is very good based on reviews, whoever the person was who came out to harass us before I could even go in and buy a sub should know that to make money, don't yell at the prospective customer. I understand if they are upset with non customers parking in their lot, but maybe the over zealous behavior should be curbed because pissed you off a customer. Chill the F out. read more

I hate to have to leave a bad review for a small business because I prefer to support small businesses, but when a sub gives me diarrhea and stomach pain. That's where I have to draw the line. When I first walked into the store I figured I give this place a shot. As soon as I walked in, my subconscious was telling me to leave. The inside of the store can definitely use an overhaul and they need to update everything. I am not a fan of their makeshift door frame. They have a kitchen appliance (I assume it's a toaster oven) mounted so close to their wall posted menu you can see the chard remains of grease on the menu and wall. Not one person lifts a finger to clean this place. It almost looks like burnt cheese on a pizza. The soda cans are dirty and the glass sliding door track for the refrigerator is disgustingly dirty. It's horrifying. It cost almost $28 for a dirty can of soda, a small treat and very bad tasting and looking Philly cheese steak. It's expensive in not upset about the price even though I feel ripped off. If it was a good tasting and looking sub I wouldn't be here typing this review. It should not even be called a Philly cheesesteak. It looks nothing like it and taste nothing like it. The sandwich was just as bad going in as it was going out. I am all for supporting the military but I think the business can benefit from changing the theme and cleanliness. The sarge needs to focus on improving the dying business and less time playing parking lot jockey. I know times are tough financially for everyone but that should not prevent you from keeping the place clean and having food that doesn't get people sick. I am not saying they are bad people. It just appears everyone that works there has given up. It took all of 25mins for them to prepare and wrap that gut bomb. What's really sad is that most of the sandwich was bread. I really want to support this local, family- and veteran-owned (I assume) sandwich shop, particularly during the pandemic. But it's hard when the sandwiches are so thin. I have never seen a cheesesteak so incredibly devoid of beef (see photos below compared against their website pic of the sandwich), or an Italian hero with so little meat/cheese (it's actually very similar to an Italian hero at Subway). Everything was tasty, but the bread-to-meat ratio is unacceptably bad on those two subs. This might fly in other parts of the country, but not in the NYC area where delis are typically much more generous with sandwich filings. read more

This little Subway shop as a great decor displayingprewar artifacts and veterans. They also have lounge seating which makes it a plus when you just want to relax. Sarges is great, they make the best sandwiches in the area. The only problem recently they have a young girl working making the sandwiches. She is not good at making sandwiches and is relatively cheap with ingredients. Nice girl, but I'm now starting to not order when i see her behind the counter. They should put her as cashier or doing something else. The interior is really cool with a bunch of marines, military things. They have a few tables and a couch with tv. Im giving 2 stars for the fast delivery, my food took 15 minutes to arrive. I tried establishment 2 times the first one I tried the USO club and the chicken cutlet sandwich which i think was really tasteless, when you think of chicken cutlet or breaded chicken you would think of chicken breast breaded and deep fried to "CRISP" right? That's not how they do it, I was pretty sure that they took a piece of frozen breaded chicken and put it in the microwave to get a little warm that's all, no deep fried or anything, it was really horrible. The coating outside kind had those green spots, we didn't eat it. But the USO was ok. Today decided to give them another try so we ordered the same USO club and the cheesesteak sandwich. Again food was super fast, the USO tasted the same as the last time we had it, but the cheesesteak was a complete mess. I can't believe they call that a cheesesteak.. The sandwich had maybe a piece of meat weights about 3-4 oz, flat in the bottom of the sandwich topped with LTO, when you think of cheese steak you think of thinly sliced steak chopped on the grill mixed with peppers, onions and seasonings, topped with cheese. this one was nothing like that either, I'm pretty sure it was microwaved meat placed on cheap bread, topped with tons of lettuce. My girlfriend was craving for some chili so I got one of those too, and she thought it tasted like canned food that's been microwaved. We ended up splitting the USO and that was it for our lunch. Won't probably be ordering from this place again, they need to step up their game and learn how to cook, there's a Lot of competition in the area. Wondering how long they will last.
