Sara's is a great little unassuming Turkish spot connected to a market. The ambiance isn't really a selling point. I've been a few times and have tried a bunch of things that I've had zero complaints over. The zucchini pancake app was a surprising one and worth trying. I also really love getting hot tea and hanging out for a bit after eating. The service is a bit hands off but I prefer it that way. You can pop over to the market before leaving for any specialty items at a good price. This is probably my favorite middle eastern/Mediterranean spot in Pinellas. read more

Let's start off with a little confusion...we'd ordered the Sara's Special Kofte which was outstanding and a Beef and Chicken Mixed Doner Kebob item that some how never materialized. A mix up in one person taking the order and another one serving the food is what we believe happened. We'd waited a bit for the second dish to arrive but since we were going to split the meals so we could try both entrees anyway we just went ahead and began eating. The Kofte dish was very good... a Turkish Beef Meatball consistency dish served with a tomato sauce and covered in Mozzarella cheese and a side of rice. The restaurant is in the same building as the market is and so the ambiance is a bit off...the decor is nice, just a bit distracting with the market fully accessible like that. Despite the issue with the order, our waiter was very good and explained the differences in the food questions we had...the food was delicious and we'll definitely be back if we get the opportunity to get back down here again. read more

I have been going to the grocery store portion of Sara's for years & have always been very impressed by that store. So now Sara's has expanded with a restaurant. I sadly found the restaurant to be quite disappointing. I ordered Beef Doner, which is basically shaved gyro meat. I also ordered just a glass of water to drink. The shaved gyro meat was about $25. It tasted fine, & there was a good amount of it, but $25? And to fill my glass of water the waiter brought a plastic bottle of water to the table. And of course they charged for that. My wife got Chicken doner which is obviously the chicken version of beef doner. Our 2 plates of gyro meat, waters, taxes, & tip came to $65. There are so many other Middle East restaurants we frequent in our area, and the cost is 1/3 to 1/2 what Sara's is charging. We of course will keep shopping in the grocery section, but we are "one & done" with the restaurant. read more

The dining area is located inside the grocery store. We ordered the baked hummus, and two dishes. We are very familiar with middle eastern cooking as it's one of our favorites and decided to go with a dish that had meat that was a mix of lamb and beef. I was incredibly disappointed that the meat did not taste fresh nor did it have any flavoring. The meat was also very mushy and did not smell fresh. When I brought this up to our waitress, she smirked at us and said nothing as I let her know what was wrong with the meat. We then ordered the diced chicken ($12) to have with the rice and salad from the original dish. The diced chicken dish came with four small pieces of chicken. That's it. We were really disappointed with our entire experience here including the customer service. I tried to discretely take pictures of the inedible meat and that's when the waitress came over to let me know she took off that dish from our bill. Our bill was $84. For baked hummus, one dish, two sides of chicken cubes, and two water bottles. I would not return. read more

I've been wanting to stop in and try Sara's for awhile now to fulfill my itch for authentic Turkish cuisine. We ended up going later in the evening not realizing it was so close to closing but we were still greeted with friendly service. I would like to mention they also have a food market upon entering that you have to pass through to get to the restaurant side. There are a lot of great grocery selection from the Middle East. The entire establishment is very clean and well maintained. The service was quick and efficient! We ordered the Oven Baked Hummus as a starter that is topped with mozzarella cheese. I ordered the Lamb Shish Kebab and my friend ordered the Meat Cubed Cheese Pide (not realizing how big it was). Their portions were great for the price and all the food was very fresh, seasoned well and prepared perfectly. Only thing I wish I could've got was the tea. Guess I'm not a fan of Turkish food. I ordered skewers of lamb kebabs and a Greek salad. The lamb was cooked well done (not how I expected). The Greek salad was unlike any Greek salad I have ever had. There was no lettuce in this mound of what looked like chopped cucumber or zucchini, a few tomatoes, some olives, no potato salad, but it did have some sprinkles of feta cheese. It was a big disappointment as was the lamb. The service was attentive. The ambience was lacking for sure, due to this restaurant sharing half of the grocery store. read more

Had a nice dinner at Sara's Kebab House in Clearwater. Starters were babaghanoush and dolmas. We put that babaghanoush on this lovely bread they served. Absolutely delicious. The stuffed grape leaves, dolmas, beautifully seasoned. The first entrée was the fish and chips. The fish was cod. It had a dark crust to it, and the fish underneath was perfectly cooked, moist and flaky. The fries that accompanied did were nicely seasoned and cooked well. The accompanying salad on the plate wasn't particularly great and mostly unnecessary. The other dish is a Turkish ravioli. The sauce had a bit of an unusual flavor, not bad, but not great. The ravioli themselves were a bit of a disappointment. I felt that they needed to be cooked longer because they were very gummy. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a disappointment. They have a very extensive menu and in spite of this little hiccup, I will certainly go back. This is not my first visit and I know the food overall can be very good. A pistachio baklava at the end of the meal was a nice ending. The servers were very attentive and it is a nice restaurant area that has a great Mediterranean market on the other side. I come here often and thought I'd update my review due to the changes. They still start you off with complimentary bread and tea which is delicious. They bring this red vinegar/garlic sauce with the bread which I highly recommend trying with the bread when it's hot! I always get the mixed platter here due to the variation of starches and meat. I like their thinly cut lamb shish, it's bursting in flavor. Their beef and chicken kebob is also very good. Not a huge fan of the chicken Adana though because it's super salty. The flavor of the food and service is on point! They also have a decent ambiance. The only down side that I've noticed is that its portion sizes seem smaller than before. The beef and chicken kabobs are small cube sizes now. The lamb shish is also less than before and the chicken Adana is smaller in size. They also don't have crinkled French fries and use a generic version now but they do give more fries. read more

I was a little taken a back when I walked into a grocery store! Sara's Kebab House is 60% grocery store, 40% restaurant. I was quickly seated and was surprised to see just how many tables were full. The menu has plenty of options to choose from and the staff is friendly and willing to answer questions or provide recommendations. I order the Chicken Adana and it did not disappoint. Ingredients were fresh and very tasty. The price for entrees will run about $25 per plate. If you enjoy Mediterranean food, I would definitely recommend visiting Sara's Kebab House. read more

We finally stopped in and were not disappointed! They give you complimentary hot Turkinsh tea and bread with dipping sauce. All were fantastic! We ordered the cold 3 app sampler. We got hummus, their version of taziki, and Dolmades. The Dolmades are the best I've ever had! We got the Mixed Grill which serves 2-3 people. Needless to say we had plenty of leftovers. I recommend getting double rice for your 2 sides. The rice was moist and had a hint of cinnamon to it. We shopped the adjoining store when we were done and picked up a pack of their scented wet hand towels they give you with your bill. We've been to the adjoining Mediterranean Market, and were intrigued by the restaurant inside as the smells coming from the area were fabulous. We came here with our daughter and her boyfriend who was familiar with their menu so we had a leg up on what to order. We got the Sara's Special Mixed Grill based on the boyfriends recommendation. That dish along with a starter salad and a plate of five of the Cold Mezes (babagahnoush, haydari, hummus, sauced eggplant, and spinach tarator) was PLENTY for four to eat and still have lots to bring home. The mixed grill dish was served in a large pan (almost like a deep dish pizza pan) with a flaky dough on top and bottom and filled with rice and scrumptious meats. The mezes were perfect for enjoying with the mixed grill dish. Our server was friendly and attentive. I don't believe they serve alcohol and if you ask for water it will be regular bottled water. Loved this place! Service was very fast and our waitress was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The place has plenty of tables and is combined with a Mediterranean market. We didn't get quite chance to browse the market but it looked like there was a wide variety of products. We got a mixed grill platter to share and it was a perfect amount of food for 2 people and we were also able to bring some home. There could've been a bit more rice and salad with it for the amount of meat that was on it but everything was very tasty. The bread basket was also very fresh and delicious. We wanted an early dinner on a Saturday do we stopped in to Sara's Kebab House. It is a nice open space smartly decorated. We were seated promptly and our server, Jessica stopped by to take our drink order immediately. She returned with the drinks and an ample supply of freshly baked bread with a nice dipping sauce. The food is going to be delicious every time! I frequent for the zucchini cakes, chicken adana, and chicken shish. Unfortunately you do have to remind your waiter of the complimentary tea, for napkins, for water refills, for your check, for to go boxes, for a bag for you to go boxes. The place is set up in a grocery store so the ambiance is more casual and seat yourself.... Which is probably why sometimes you will get skipped over because another server assumes you are being helped by another server. The servers are sweet once they get to you it's just not a place you go for a quick bite because you have to stay on top of your server for service; which is never fun for dining out. read more

The authentic Turkish cuisine offered by this establishment rivals that we have eaten on our several visits to Istanbul and outlying cities. The mixed kabob platter satisfied three Persian palattes. Oh man. Best dining experience I've had in awhile! No wait to be seated midweek on a Thursday. Very comfortable, sturdy chairs. Plenty of tables. Our server was a joy, really great service from her which was much appreciated. With meal you are given complimentary tea service , as well as bread and house sauce (delicious). We both ordered starters to share. Vegetarian dolmas were so so good, I have never had and really enjoyed the Turkish version with pine nuts. The sauced eggplant was very delicious and flavorful, also pretty oily so not best of calorie counting :) We both ordered kebabs-lamb and shrimp. I will say the shrimp was a little overcooked but that's my only complaint. Served w rice and salad, with tzatzki and/or garlic sauce as needed. There wasn't a chance of having room for dessert even with us both taking home leftovers however, I did pick up some goodies from the market on the way out. This is a great experience for fans of Turkish or just Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food in general. It's definitely going for a more higher end experience than other restaurant/markets in the area, which is why the prices are a bit high. However, everything was very fresh and the menu was huge. I especially appreciated the photos in the menu but even with that, it was so difficult to choose and the prices made it restrictive when it comes to ordering multiple dishes for the table to try more things. The complimentary warm, fresh bread and dipping sauce are a can't-miss here. I can't fully explain the flavor, but you'll want to try it. I can't recall the name of what I tried, but it was an array of small meat-based pizzas that came with a large bowl of hummus and a salad with fresh lemon. It was cool that it came on a butchers block type platter. Everything was fresh and delicious. My husband has a dairy allergy and they were very accommodating with him about how things are made. We learned that most of the meats are marinated in yogurt, so that left the lamb kebab as an option, which he enjoyed. My friend also ordered the chicken kebab and enjoyed it as well. The market itself was very interesting due to the sheer number and variety of items. We left with a few things like chocolate and spices. It is strange they don't offer normal filtered ice water with meals. You can only purchase by the bottle. We also did not get offered any of the complimentary tea that other reviewers mentioned. It felt rude to ask for it explicitly! I appreciate what they're trying to do here and I like that the food is so fresh, but there should be some adjustments as far as beverages and perhaps they can add more combination meals so customers can try a couple things at a time without breaking the bank. read more

What a Shame...Still This was my second visit to Sara's. My first visit was problematic, so I wanted to give them a second chance. Sara's wants to charge nicer restaurant prices yet provide diner-style (or worse) service. I paid $42 for an appetizer and entrée (pre-tax & tip). But they don't provide water. Even a simple diner doesn't force you to buy a bottle of water with a meal. The food is, generally, OK. The Baked Hummus appetizer was overwhelmed by the cheese on top. I never thought I would use the phrase "too much cheese", but here it applies. The Beef Casserole entree was quite good. Portions are large and I had plenty to take home. The real problem with the place is the service. They charge restaurant prices but service is worse than any diner. I was extremely clear that I wanted to eat my appetizer first and that the entrée shouldn't be served until I was done with the appetizer. Both items came out at the same time. I had this same exact problem on my first visit and that's why I was so clear with the server about not bringing out the entrée with the appetizer. How hard is that? I've visited Sara's twice. I love this place even though I got an allergic reaction from the chicken Adana. Don't know what it was but I'm guessing it probably had some kind of shellfish to it. We ordered the Mixed Grill. It had Chicken Adana, beef kabobs, chicken kabobs, and beef doner. Chicken was soft and tender, and so as the beef! Both grilled to perfection. The doner was also amazing! So much flavor and not too salty. The bread you get while waiting was so fresh, that you wanna keep eating with their delicious chef's secret dipping sauce! So yummy! Their Turkish tea was also good! Very cute and cool sugar cubes and tea glasswares. Love that evil eye symbol! 4 stars bc it is a bit pricey, you don't get free water, and servers are not as attentive and don't seem approachable. So Happy We Finally Checked Out Sara's Kebab House. We frequent Clearwater, so this was a stop I was looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. This is located inside Sara's Mediterranean Food Market, & they do a great job separating the two. It's very clean and aesthetic. Our server was thoughtful, friendly, & helpful. With your order, you get fresh baked bread similar to herbed focaccia bread and a tomato dip that reminded me of bruschetta. Our app was the mini lahmacun which is good and flavorful. It has a nice crunch and the salad is great to put on top to really elevate the flavor. Our huge entree was the mixed grill with different types of kebabs. The flavor is endless. I usually like dipping my food in a sauce as a habit, & this in no way needed any additional flavor. It's served with rice and salad which again is so tasty and compliments everything very well. At the end, we had our complimentary Turkish tea. It was perfect to wash everything down. It is not sweet, but they gave us sugar cubes. I also had one honey packet for some reason and it tasted so good with it. We didn't get any dessert because we were full. This was such a great lunch! Wow, it's about time I checked Sara's Mediterranean kitchen off my checklist. Upon walking in you'll know your in a spot where everything is authentic. The smells are amazing and the dining area is big. Mixed grill plate - It's a little bit of everything ,beef shish, beef doner, chicken adana, and grilled chicken thighs. Each individual meat was very tender and delicious in their own right but my favorite just might be the chicken Adana. It had chives mixed in and a certain spice blend that compliments the juicy chicken. This is a must try for sharing but it does not have any lamb . The complimentary bread with red sauce is the perfect way to start the meal. The bread is freshly baked and lightly seasoned. The red sauce is a like a lemon , olive oil blend with a bit of spices.
