This is place is very expensive for the quality of ramen. I wanted to be optimistic and try but for 16.99 a bowl it is definitely not worth it and I now know why it is completely dead in here. The egg was over cooked and not soft boiled. The flavor was lacking. The pork was over cooked, very dry and chewy. Would not recommend this place to anyone. If anything I recommend to stay away. Noodles were bad as well. read more

The food made me sad. Ordered spicy miso ramen, chicken karaage, gyoza, and 2 other different ramen. Just by looking at it, it looks dull and distasteful. Tasting it bleh ‍ 1 star for effort. You're better off buying instant noodles. I was hungry and it didn't even push me to eat the whole bowl. paid $120 not worth it at all. Chicken karaage and gyoza came out hot but had no taste we ask for at least mayo or something to dip it in nope they said no need coz it has sauce inside . read more

We ate here last weekend and it was so delicious. The portions were large enough and the price was good. My wife and son had ramen and I had the Kabocha Curry with Karage and believe me when I tell you that I will be dreaming of that curry for a long time. Hands down the best curry that I've ever had. Definitely recommend this place as the staff was attentive and friendly. read more

We had to swat a few flies and gnats away while eating. Ramen and curry were good. Nice big bowls. I expected something different for the Cheese Corn. Sounded delicious but was just a plate of canned corn with melted cheese on top. read more

The owners were so kind and attentive. The only reason I giving 3 stars is because the ramen was simply okay. Being in Santa Cruz, this is probably the best ramen you can get. I ordered the KO ramen and it did satisfy my craving but it wasn't the best ramen bowl I've ever had. As an appetizer we ordered the BBQ ribs and they were very good! read more

I had a Ko Ramen. Excellent ramen with such a deep rich broth. I love salt so the level was perfect, meat was also tasty. My only issue (and it's a big one) is they only hard boil their eggs . I am used to a nice runny yolk in my ramen so it throws me off. Otherwise service is great and the food is excellent. read more

Great food. Long waits. I called in a to go order. I was told 30 minutes. I arrived and was told to sit down to wait. After 15 minutes, I asked, is my order almost ready? No, no she says. Look, there are 5 other orders ahead of you. I'm thinking, why didn't you say an hour when I ordered? She's the only person taking orders. Her English isn't good enough to ask a question. We ordered a cup of miso soup. We got a $15.00 order of miso chicken ramen!!! No point in asking her what happened, she doesn't communicate understandably is the problem. If you don't have the menu number of what you're ordering, watch out! read more

First time here and I tried the Kobucha Ramen in a coconut pumpkin vegetarian broth. It had kobucha squash, Brussels sprouts, Kim chee and a soft boiled egg (was more hard boiled but softened up a bit in the broth). Plenty of noodles and I couldn't finish them all or the broth. I was there early for dinner so they weren't busy and service was very efficient and friendly. The broth was so tasty, I just added a little spice. It was everything a bowl of ramen should be and I will return soon to try some more. read more

I GOT SICK BY EATING THEIR RAMEN!!! DANGEROUS!! THE WORST RAMEN THAT I'VE EVER TRIED. The broth was sour and when I told it to the cooker, I heard he saying that it went bad in chinese for his coworker and he lied to me saying that it was the real taste. I'm japanese and know how it suppose to taste like. They're full of shame!! read more

Stopped in on a rainy night for some sake and ramen. This is in a small shopping center and super easy to find, also lots of parking. They offer wine, sake, and some beer options. There is a vegetarian ramen available as well. We enjoyed our food and would definetly come back! read more

No complaints about the service. Broth was fine. A long black hair in the ramen? Not okay. The chicken was so over cooked it was like rubber. The broccoli was totally raw. My wife and I were totally disappointed. We would never come back again. I like to tip and this was a very difficult street for me. I was going to go two stars but my wife just corrected me. Only one. read more

I have to say I was disappointed by our meal. We started out with an appetizer, the crispy garlic kale. It was crispy alright, but had very little kale in it and was not very garlicky. It was like eating fried batter with a little kale thrown in. As for the ramen, My wife had the vegetarian ramen and I had the Ebirah, seafood ramen. The broth in both was thin and lacked depth. Her egg was hard boiled and not jammy soft like it should be. The kabocha was well prepared though. The noodles were passable, but lacked the subtle chewiness of freshly made noodles. Mine had a very chewy lobster tail and an average amount of mussels and scallops. Not a satisfying ramen for $26.99. The decor of the restaurant was bare bones and not the most appealing if you are looking for a better experience in that regard. I don't think we'll be going back. read more

My SO and I came here for lunch on a weekday and it was the best ramen I've had in the Santa Cruz county area, period. He got spicy miso ramen and I got the curry karrage ramen. Positives: - spicy miso ramen had a fried chicken leg (not drumstick: leg!) that was crispy and moist and delicious - karrage in my ramen was tasty and the curry broth was nice and thick Drawbacks: - I like my soup a little hotter - only one wait staff, but he was diligent in asking about our meal and verifying our o Overall, flavor was on point! I will be back, for sure. read more

I was looking for some awesome Ramen on a Monday and unfortunately so many Japanese restaurants were closed. ;_; I happened upon this place and didn't let the reviews deter. It was really awesome. A bit dated inside, but the food is amazing. Karaage ramen? YES, PLEASE! They had a curry based one and a traditional ramen soup. The addition of the karaage was super on point and we were one of the few patrons inside. Service was awesome and they helped recommend these choices. This is an awesome little spot for ramen in the Santa Cruz area. I'd highly recommend checking it out. Very generous portions too. read more

I checked out Sapporo Ramen tonight. I had their most popular Ko Ramen that was simmered for 20 hours topped with Pork Belly, Nori, Sweet Corn and a soft boiled egg. The soup was ok. Nothing to get excited about. I had to add soy sauce and chili sauce to flavor it up. Pork Belly was good, soft boiled egg was actually hard boiled, big difference in how that tastes in a ramen. Wanted to try the beef tongue skewer, unfortunately they were out. The server was friendly and prompt even though it was fairly busy. read more

There's not a whole lot of ramen in the area, so color me surprised at the quality of Sapporo Ramen. When I went, it was takeout only, and the staff were very cautious with Covid and social distancing. However, the food came out quickly, and was very nicely sealed into separate containers to keep the noodles dry and springy, and the broth hot. They even provided microwaveable bowls to mix the noodles and broth together. Broth was rich and flavorful, and the noodles were chewy. All in all, a good takeout experience with Ramen. read more

The Good: -portion sizes are very huge -ramen is decent, but nothing special. Maybe the broth style just isn't my favorite (I tried the Ko) The Bad: -prices are unexpectedly high (maybe because it was dinner prices?) -the waitress wasn't very attentive. There were only a few other folks in the place, and I could have used more water refills. -the ramen is ok but nothing special. -despite the name, there is no Sapporo-style ramen. I expected to see some with corn and butter - that should really be one of their signature ramens. I may come back for lunch to try their other options, but I was a little underwhelmed by what I assumed was their signature dish (the Ko). read more

Yummy ramen, needs ambiance music, but other than that, a great place to eat! The service was good too.

My first time here and honestly it's not that great. First walking into the restaurant it was a little awkward. The waitress was nice but didn't really seem be very aware of her customers. The environment was also awkward because there was no music and no one was really talking. I felt like I couldn't even talk to my friends who I came with. Moving on to the ramen. The portion was huge so it was lowkey worth the price that they were charging. Personally I liked the chashu pork but the broth of the ramen was a little too sweet for my taste. I needed to add a lot of soy sauce and salt to balance out the broth. The egg was also more hard boiled than soft boiled. I usually don't complain about water, but the water didn't even have ice. read more

We placed an order online and when we got there we are told only a 20 min wait. Cut to an hour later they check in and say oh another 5 mins. There was no apology or anyone to check in with the status. If you place a mobile order just be aware they will take forever to make it and have no consideration for your time. People! We have amazing ramen and real Japanese curries in Santa Cruz! Please order the Brussels sprouts skewers!!! The most sweet family service it will warm your heart. We drive from Watsonville to get out fix of the tonkatsu, salmon skewers, and sesame balls for dessert. This spot was open when we rolled into Santa Cruz at 8:30 pm. I ordered by phone and because English was the order takers serving language the ordering took extra long and was frustrating. Very circular and unclear if I was going to get what I ordered. Then when we got there to pick up our order the guy was overly chatty, trying to convince us that their broth was very healthy. Overall, we got what we ordered, but the ramen and udon was average. read more

My boyfriend and I saw that a new ramen place opened in town, so we had to try it out! We got the gyoza, which were spectacular, BBQ spare ribs, which we would definitely get again as well, and each got ramen. He got the Ko ramen and added a little of the red chili powder they had on the table and said it made it perfect! I got the Karrage ramen which was spicy, but tasted pretty good! One thing I would do if I ordered it again is get the fried chicken on the side, as they put it in the soup and it got soggy fast! I like to dip my crunchy chicken in the soup but don't want it soggy. The store is still very new. It doesn't look very appealing yet. It also has a smell that could best be described as one a gas station bathroom would have. They definitely need to get some sort of sound system because we went during lunch, and it was quiet and somewhat awkward. Music would help fill the space a lot. The server was great! She checked on us and cared that we had a good meal! However when we walked in, the kitchen staff was sitting on the back chairs in the hallway and playing on their phones. I understand you're slow...but go somewhere out of the customers view when someone enters. We walked in and the only person who budged was the server. The others stayed on their phone until we ordered. Kind of weird? Overall, we will probably return to the location in a few weeks and hopefully they update the look of the restaurant! I have high hopes that this place will succeed! Everything on the menu sounded really good so we want to try more. Good luck! read more

Service was very good but also the food was just incredibly bland, i took home leftovers of the kabocha ramen and used it as a base for a hearty-er soup n it was really good, just weirdly not seasoned at all. also hard boiled egg when you order soft boiled just like everyone else on here read more

I'll start off with the good things. The service was good, the food came out fast, the lady serving us was nice and responsive. Now the not so good things. To start, we got water as soon as we sat down and it was full of white floating things, so we ordered orange juice to quench our thirst. All these people saying that they're "ramen connoisseurs" and enjoyed this place must be experts in all the different flavors of top ramen, because this was not quality. We're visiting from the North Bay and we passed probably hundreds of better ramen places between here and SF. The fact that it's a ~200sqft storefront in a strip mall should be indicator number one on the quality, but I was hoping to be wrong when I read all the raving reviews. Sadly, I was correct. To be honest, the food experience may not have been as bad had we not had the poor impression with the nasty water. Their choice to have an open kitchen was a mistake as well, as we could see everything they were doing, such as handling raw chicken with bare hands and handling other food items directly after. My recommendation would be to go in, face away from the kitchen, and don't ask for any water. Maybe your mediocre ramen will taste better. read more
