This is our new go to for Chinese. After going with a friend my family was hooked. When you first walk in there is a resemblance of a thriving two room restaurant. One room was now dark and seemed to be used for take out boxes. The main dining room is decorated but still felt a bit bare. My friend recommended the wings and they did not disappoint. We also had orange chicken, veg fried rice, plain stir fried noodles ( for the kids) white rice, hunan beef, pork bao- basically came in and ordered hungry. Everything was delicious. this review is two years in the making I have been meaning to review Ming's ever since we discovered them two years ago. We were staying in Aptos for a family reunion and after extending our trip, my husband and I were looking for a good Chinese restaurant. There were many reviews that were mixed and after I read the review reviews for Ming's,I decided that we should try it. I didn't feel like getting ready so we parked in the parking lot and my husband went to go pick up the order. When he came back, I couldn't believe how much food there was and how little we spent. We are from San Jose but every time we get a craving for Chinese food, we literally want to drive up the hill! The reason I'm finally writing this review is because I wanted to make sure they were still open and went onto Yelp to check the hours and decided I should write the review so everyone knows how delicious it is. We've had everything from the fried wontons to chicken salad, barbecued pork, fried rice, beef, and broccoli, lemon, chicken, sweet-and-sour pork and chicken chow mein. This is such a cute little restaurant! We were greeted right when we came in and I noticed how clean and tidy this place was. We had just gotten Chinese food in San Jose that wasn't the best and we needed REDEMPTION. And redemption was found in Ming's Palace. We ordered the "Family Dinner" and don't you dare judge that there were only two of us. The minimum is 2 people! The one we ordered has hot and sour soup (yummmmmm), almond chicken (so yummm), sweet & sour pork (crispy with a perfect sauce), pork fried rice (loved), and Mongolian beef (a little salty). So far my favorite Chinese place in Santa Cruz (though I'll admit that doesn't take a lot as there isn't a whole lot of choice here). I loved most of my food, though was disappointed by the main entree, so I'll try a different dish for my main next time. I ordered through DoorDash, and thankfully my Dasher noticed that one of my items was missing and was nice enough to let them know and wait for the missing item. I ordered the Mongolian chicken, BBQ pork buns, hot & sour soup, egg rolls, and steamed jasmine rice. So the Mongolian chicken was my main, but it was my least favorite of everything I ordered. The sauce just didn't taste quite right and there was an overwhelming amount of zucchini compared to chicken and other vegetables. I would not order the Mongolian chicken again, in my opinion. I absolutely loved the BBQ pork buns though...omg sooooooo good. I love well made BBQ pork buns so much. The outer dough was soft and the BBQ was tasty yet sweet. I could probably have eaten like 30 instead of the 3 I ordered. Might just order two orders of it next time. The hot & sour soup was delicious as well. Perfect taste, temperature, and ratio of ingredients. It seemed a bit dear for $8, but they give you a big ol' serving of it, so you've got about three or four servings if you're a person like me. I ended up eating some for dinner, lunch the next day, and dinner the next day as well. The egg rolls were just okay, but I'd order again with my meal. Steamed jasmine rice was good of course...idk how you mess up plain rice and they definitely didn't lol. I was super happy that my Dasher noticed the missing item though, because I would have been sad without it. We had dinner to go from Mings the other night. First impression - the people working there seemed exceptionally nice and welcoming. We look forward to eating here in person someday when the restrictions are lifted. The best items we had were the orange chicken (they give you the sauce on the side so that the chicken doesn't get soggy), the Kung Pao chicken, the beef chow fun and the fried chicken wings. We all walked down to Mings and had a wonderful lunch. We were greeted immediately and seated. The menu has a lot to choose from including many lunch special options. We ordered two different lunch combos. They came with hot & sour soup that was really good. The entrees were served on beautiful unique plates. We both had sweet & sour chicken that was very good and fried rice that was good. My partners came with salmons chicken that he live and a crispy egg roll that he enjoyed. My plate also had delicious beef with broccoli and fried prawns. Even our iced tea was good. Service was perfect and attentive. But I will say that I work in Soquel village near them, and it's a regular lunch spot for me. I have heard the crab Rangoons aren't great. My favorite is the hunan beef.
