Great meal garage or fried chicken as an appetizer and curry udon. We added a poached egg, seaweed and fried tofu to our dish. The frued chicken was served hot, was very tender and had great flavor. The broth with noodles was spicy and rich. The noodles were perfect and the portion was a nice size and I thought I could not finish but this was sooo good. The staff was courteous and the food came out quickly. When.we arrived we were immediately seated but when we left thete was a line to get in. Enjoyed this place!
We always have to visit here when we come to Paris since we discovered it several years ago. The small shop is run by twins. My go-to is karaage udon. Don't forget to pour the sauce on the soft udon and fried chicken/egg. Come during lunch and you can get the set. Hubby likes the Torigobo Gohan and omelette. Usually, you can't help but add more karaage.
** Perfect way to get your noodle fix for all the tourists that want to take a break from the local cuisine. A bit of a wait but well worth it! Tired of eating steak frites for the 4th time in a row but not sure what else to try? Look no further! This udon place was so good that my fiance and I came here not once but twice on our week long vacation in Paris. Might be the best udon I've had (granted I've never been to Japan) as it beats out pretty much every place I've had in the US. I ordered the Duck udon both times. The broth was incredibly rich and unique tasting, and the noodle texture was perfect. We came in March around a colder time, and this was the perfect fix on a rainy day. There can be a bit of a line depending on when you go, but its worth the wait! The only downside is that if you are very hungry, it might not be enough to just order one bowl. The duck udon was just a few pieces of protein and noodles, so not too much substance in the bowl, but the taste is on point. It seems like there are other add ons you may want to consider, or plan on hitting a bakery afterwards. The inside is very cramped but its expected for the area.
The first time we were in Paris I bookmarked this place. It just so happened we were looking for a brunch spot and I stumbled across my old bookmark. This is a small space so there can be a wait. Luckily we only waited about 5-10 minutes. We were seated inside along the window. The staff speak some English and were friendly. This is by far the best udon we've had in Europe. The broth is so rich and comforting. The noodles are made in house and fresh and cooked perfectly. We had a wonderful experience and can't recommend this place enough when you are wanting a nice comforting Asian soup while in Paris!
4.5 stars and rounded up! Doing Japanese food proud in Paris! Probably one of the best udon places I've ever eaten at outside of Japan. Came here twice on my recent trip to Paris. Expect a line at each meal, lunch or dinner, since it's a small casual joint that seats about 15 inside at bar areas, and another 10 people in the covered outdoor area. It's a place to loudly slurp down your udon fix while waitstaff greet customers together with "irasshaimase!" and bustle about placing and bringing out orders, not a spot to linger for hours with friends--it's also pretty crowded inside--so the queue moves fairly quickly. If you're hungry best bet is still to get there when they open. That being said I must also say the service here was very friendly and polite, they never rushed us even though they do bring you the check once all items have been served--you can take the check to the counter in the back to pay. Trying several items, I must say this spot holds down the fort with traditional staples like Niku Oroshi udon (beef, poached egg, grated radish), Tempura udon (2 prawn tempura, you can order Hiyashi tempura udon that comes with vegetable tempura too), and Kaisou udon (mixed seaweed). Each broth is unique and fantastic, I haven't experienced this level of authenticity in flavor since eating in Japan. Their Bukkamo udon (duck marinated in teriyaki sauce, poached egg) is hands down stellar, that duck is perfectly cooked, tender and savory...I'm drooling right now. Their eggs are poached perfectly. The side order of Nikumiso Gohan, a small bowl of miso pork over rice reminded me of a yummy Japanese breakfast. The Tonjiru udon was probably the one bowl that I might not get again, the yuzu miso broth flavor was ok, but the pork although sliced thinly felt a bit oily. Thanks for two delicious meals! Wish I lived closer so I could get this more often!
Lives up to the hype of being a Michelin starred udon restaurant! My bf ordered the Tonjiru (sliced pork belly) udon and I got the Bukkake Tempura udon. Both were delicious (pretty on par with udon restaurants in Japan) and the noodles were the perfect chewy texture. My tempura was also fried perfectly and I loved the broth of my bf's Tonjiru udon. I was only in Paris for a few days around Christmas time and the restaurant was closed between Christmas Eve and January 3rd or else I would have come here again because it's THAT good.
Boo Boo and I came here after a few hours at the Louvre museum. There was a long wait but it moved fast. The staff and the setup makes dining here just enough to pace everyone out. We shared the fried chicken and She got the shrimp tempura udon soup and I got the sliced beef udon soup. It hit the spot in a cold breezy day. Cc accepted. I've noticed every restroom in France to be very clean! way to go.
After eating all the French food I could eat for the first few meals, I needed some Asian food to comfort the soul. On a cold night, hot soba with some freshly fried tempura sounded great. My wife and I went around 9pm and the line was still long! However, we didn't have to wait too long before we were able to sit down. They have both indoor and covered outdoor seating. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I tried both the udon and tempura and both were spot on. The warm, perfectly salted broth complimented the tempura and warmed our bodies in the cool Fall night. This is a great place if you're feeling a little home sick from Asian food.
My good people, this is single handedly the best udon place I have ever eaten at. I was suggested this place by a friend who had spent many many years living in Japan. Admittedly, my udon experiences are limited and I came in with no idea of what to order. I was assured that anything I ordered would be positively delicious and that was indeed the case. In fact, days later I am still thinking about this meal and dreaming up my return visit. What should you order? I can, as my friend assured me, assure you that anything you order will be good. You will not be disappointed. Other highlights: Good prices, food cooked right in front of you, and a short wait to get a table or spot at the counter. Also half priced beer at happy hour!
Oh my was I glad to try this place out. There was a long line when I got there around 12 ish. It does move fairly quick. If you have a big party, it is best to sit separately so you don't need to wait for a bigger seating to open up. Anyway, I was happy to eat some udon since I was feeling for something soupy. The udon was bouncy. The broth was flavorful. I didn't feel dehydrated after eating this meal. Overall, stop by this place to give it a try if you don't mind waiting.
Literally one of the best ramen/noodles spots I have ever been. I can't wait to come back to Paris so I can eat here again. I am so happy our hotel was very close by so we ended up coming here 2x on our trip to Paris. It's nothing I've ever had before and it seems very authentic. The soup is flavorful and I loved everything about it! It's a must try. Note that it gets very busy here, we came right when they opened and it got packed every fast and there is usually always a line here. Our hotel was very closeby and we always saw people standing and waiting outside to eat here and that's how you know it's good. One of the servers spoke English too and was very helpful!
I was very surprised by how much I liked getting Udon here. I did not expect anything good Japanese in Paris but was pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong. Not only was everything super delicious, the staff was super kind and attentive. We really enjoyed the Japanese Hospitality that came with our meal. Nothing beats a cold udon and cold beer on a hot day after the Lourve. My only complaint is that it does get busy and the way is annoying as there is not much shade. Nothing they can really do about it except maybe put out an umbrella for your guests.
1. Casually bookmarked this because it popped up on Google Maps. 2. Stumbled around the Louvre for two hours because half of the directions to the Mona Lisa were incorrect. Let's be honest, you only go once and never again. 3. Walk hangrily to Sanukiya at 3pm to realize there's a line outside and think, "But why???" and then see the 10 Michelin stickers on the window. 4. Oh. Maybe this is good. We were totally caught off guard by the Michelin recognition but very down to try it since the line was so short. I'd say that 3-4:30 pm on weekdays is the perfect time frame without a wait. Plus, there's that happy hour side menu with large beers for the price of the small. Loved the A-lunch set side of rice, kaarage, and eggs (and I would get this for a full portion with a side of udon if that were an option). Decent udon, but nothing outstanding. Would go again... just during the hour and a half of no lines :)

If you need a break from French food, this is the place to go!! This place has been a Michelin recommended restaurant every year since 2013. The restaurant is quite small and the food is a bit pricey. There is always a long line out the door, but the wait is worth it because their food is delicious and flavorful. They have many selections of udon, which you can get with hot or cold broth. I also really love the tempura shrimp/veggies. The interior is very clean. Likewise, their chopsticks, bowls, cups, etc. are also very clean. Furthermore, the staff are very friendly, attentive, and fast. My family comes here every time we are in Paris, and the staff remembers us! read more

My fiancé and I went there for dinner because we wanted high quality Japanese food for dinner, and good Asian food is hard to come by in Paris. We ordered beers and appetizers ~ the fried chicken which was DELISH! And the egg omelette, which was cold so I wouldn't get it again. We also ordered udon noodles, with more fried chicken. The portions are large and very filling! It was delicious and I'd definitely go back! read more

My husband and I had just arrived in Paris and were killing time before we could check into our hotel. We were also starving. We found this place was only a short walk away, so we headed over for a late lunch at Sanukiya. When we arrived, there was a line out the door. Luckily I had taken a peek at the Yelp reviews, which assured me the line would move quickly. We were not waiting outside long. The seating inside is very cozy. In fact, it's borderline cramped and I was awkwardly placed in a corner where I had to make a concerted effort to not bump the person next to me while handling my chopsticks. However, the food made it totally worth it. English menus were available, and our server spoke English as well. I ordered the curry udon (which was a little heavy and I don't think I would have ordered if I had seen a photo beforehand). Nonetheless, it was tasty, reasonably priced, and definitely hit the spot on a cold day. read more

Wow... I honestly have no words. I went to Paris for a weekend and it was my first time. I had no idea what I wanted to eat or what was good in the area because I didn't do much research. We came across Sanukiya while walking and saw the line. At first, I didn't want to go. I was hungry and needed food right away. But the smell of the restaurant made me not want to leave. So yes, we waited in that line for 45 minutes. 45 minutes in the cold! When we got seated, I noticed that people around me ordered the same thing. Shrimp Tempura udon. So, that is what I got too. When I took my first sip of soup, I almost passed out. Not really, but i wanted to. It was amazing. The udon itself was so fresh and chewy and soaked in the broth perfectly. This place was so good, I came back the next night. And they are very accommodating to Americans! read more
To be traveling all the way to Paris from Vancouver and getting udon could sound silly, but we just had to do it because we've heard so many good things about this place from friends. We definitely did not regret our decision nor waiting in line for an hour for our meal. Our party of 3 ordered different dishes but we were all very happy with our noodles. The texture was chewy and bouncy, the soups were delicious and not overly salty. Their combo meals were an awesome deal, so I'd go for that if you're quite hungry (I'm sure you'll be hungry after waiting in line which is inevitable at this place lol). All in all excellent experience and we will definitely return when we're back in Paris. read more

When the weather drops from 108 to low 70's, Udon sounded perfect. This is probably the most popular in Paris near the Louve and is also a Michelin recommended (not star) restaurant. Most Udon houses use 1 type of broth then change the ingredients, Sanukiya uses different broths and all dishes made in front of you. The most popular are the Pork Belly, Duck, and Beef. I chose the Tonjiru Udon (Pork Belly, Vegetables, and citrusy Yuzu and savory Miso Broth) €15. and for an extra €5 added the lunch special Tamagoyaki (Japanese Omelet), Torigobo Gohan (Chicken & Burdock Mixed Rice), Chicken Karaage (Fried Chicken). That rice was amazing, I immediately researched the recipe. I was already thinking about what I'd order the next time, but decided not to put tomorrow what I can do today and ordered the Niku Udon (Beef and Onions) and it was even better! And since I was staying longer and they didn't have wine I ordered the Sake tasting for €10. Everything was really good with lots of flavors! Usually a long line but it goes fast. I only waited 20 minutes but 90 minutes later there was no line. read more
I ordered U-1. The udon was aightttttt. I felt the place was super overpriced. The soup was bland to me and the sliced pork belly wasn't amazing. They had Dikon Radish and other vegetables in there that made me dislike the udon. My boyfriend ordered a rice bowl with chicken and omelette and that was pretty good. I liked his dish more than my udon. I would recommend ordering a rice bowl over udon. Service was nice. I like how they give you the check after receiving all of your order. read more

Yummy fresh udon noodles, fresh authentic Japanese food in Paris! I really enjoyed watching the chefs cook as I ate my udon noodles. Sanukiya is pretty small and has some seating, but there was still a little bit of a line waiting to eat. We were lucky to come at the right time toward the first half hour of lunch and were seated quickly. The noodles are very tasty and so is the broth. The sides dish was also quickly eaten up. A nice quick meal and satisfied our craving for Asian food. read more

This place is really the best! Authentic feel and look with a huge selection of Udon (cold or hot!) I ordered the tempura udon and the broth is delicious. On the pricing side, it is a little pricey for us but definitely worth the splurge !!! We also ordered the karaage and i'm telling you, you gotta try it! Favorite place out of all the paris restaurants i've tried!! Next time i would like to try the cold udon, i think on a hot summer day it would be very delicious read more

So we decided to try this spot in Paris , I know we should have had French food your in France !!! I do not regret my decision, the Udon was fantastic. Excellent udon combo lunch spot near pyramides. If you make if for their lunch time and you're hungry recommend the set menu which includes burdock rice, udon of your choice, fried chicken and egg omelet with a drink. It does get super busy so be ready to wait on line. The restaurant is pretty small so not so great for a large group. Try their ton katsu or karage chicken. Their pork miso broth udon with arugula was really savory delicious as well read more
Decided to try this place after seeing the good reviews on Yelp. Indoor and outdoor seating available . Place does get busy . Not very spacious inside very tight squeeze when it's busy. Much better to sit outside . Couple different languages for the menu which was nice. A bit pricey. My first day I had the tonkatsu with a side of rice. It was good, cooked just right. Didn't leave you too full but just content . Second day I had miso base ramen. You have the option to add stuff into it for extra. Ramen was OK. The temp of the soup could of been a little hotter (idk if it was sitting a while before the brought it out or if that's how it is?) . Soup had good flavor and it was filling . A bit pricey like i mentioned. Service was good and friendly. After you eat, you take the bill to the register inside and pay. Overall good experience and I would stop by if you're in the area. I wouldn't go across town and out of the way to come here though. read more

It was SO good we went twice during our stay in Paris. You won't be disappointed! Don't be put off if there's a line outside; I think there always is. If you only need a seat or two, it goes quickly. 4 tops need to wait a bit longer. The food is awesome but even better is the service is fast if you don't have time for dinner to be an all night affair. We had the beef udon and duck udon, the kind you pour the sauce on, not the classic. Yum! Tried 3 appetizers, all amazing: tempura, karaage, tonkatsu. read more

Unfortunately, while I had high hopes for Sanukiya, I wasn't too thrilled with it. But as a disclaimer, I'm picky when it comes to Japanese food (I eat it multiple times a week). I went here with my mom on our trip to Paris, and was sold by the glowing reviews and great photos. We both opted for tempura udon - it wasn't bad, but it was just okay. The tempura was fantastic, but I wasn't too enthused by the udon broth. The taste was just off. The egg I received with it was so close to being raw that I'm amazed it even held a boiled shape (I don't mind runny eggs but it definitely needed to be cooked more - I poked it and it completely dissolved). Overall, I've had much better udon in my hometown of Los Angeles. And for udon, it was pretty pricey - I imagine because of its close proximity to the Louvre. Service was nice enough, but the tables were crammed awkwardly close to each other. I was practically rubbing elbows with the neighboring table. I'd like to maybe return one day and sample their other menu offerings, since their tempura was great. But when it comes to their udon (their apparent specialty), I just wasn't wowed. read more

The wait to get in took a while, but once you're seated, service is quick and the staff are attentive. If I find myself in Paris again, I'd definitely pay another visit. read more

tldr; delicious udon, prices are a little high, but quality is worth it I really love this place. I come here all the time. Sanukiya is a small udon shop serving up a ton of different udon varieties. You can have traditional hot udon, udon with cold sauce to pour (kind of like soba, but with udon noodles), udon soaked in cold sauce, etc. They also offer a number of appetizers and rice bowls but you don't really come to an udon shop to eat a rice bowl. I've been here a couple of times, and have really enjoyed the Niku Udon (beef and onions) and the hiyashi kitsune udon (udon with fried tofu strips with cold broth to pour). The most impressive thing about Sanukiya relative to Kunitoraya, which were the two that I was trying to choose between when I was eating here is that the udon is frankly just better at Sanukiya. The noodles are firm in texture, and don't have little noodle frays peeling off to the side, making you feel like your noodles are falling apart. They are thick and chewy, and the sauces that accompany each dish are very flavorful. The beef in the Niku udon is very tasty. I've also had Kamo Udon (duck udon) here, but found the duck to be tough and flavorless, so wouldn't recommend that. Each bowl is fairly simple, so if you want additional items in your udon, you can add them on. They also have a lunch set for an additional 5 euros that includes chicken karaage, Japanese omelette, and Burdock rice. I thought the add ons tasted okay, but it was definitely a lot of food for lunch since you still get the size of a normal bowl of udon. I've seen a lot of people share the lunch set, and think that might be a better way of handling that quantity of food. They are English and credit card friendly here which I appreciate -- you can actually request an English menu which is helpful if you know no Japanese or French. Service here is extremely fast -- I usually dine alone and am in and out in less than 15-20 min. Sometimes there's a wait outside, but it's never more than 10-15 people long, and the line moves quickly as well since turnover is so fast. read more

Four stars for the food, three and a half stars for the service, 2 stars for the "ambience"; unfortunately we went when it was a hot day; service wasn't bad - luckily still spoke enough French to get by as some of the servers had trouble in English - I know it's Paris, France. Ordered the Tempura don - huge fresh shrimps, veggies were okay. The price was right though but would even with a tiny AC unit on - it was boiling. You can tell it's bad by the fans they supply at the counter. That's a first for me! read more
My friends and I were looking for some Asian food and found this place on yelp. The wait was about 15-20 minutes and it's a pretty small shop. I got the udon with beef and egg. I thought the flavor was just ok. Not as good as some Japanese restaurants I've been to in NY. Not sure if there are other options around but I wouldn't recommend this place unless you can't find anything else you like around the area. read more

A great restaurant with specialty in udon in the middle of Paris. We enjoyed duck udon in hot sauce and pork udon in hot soup. During lunchtime the wait could be up to 30 mins or so. The place is small and is a type of eat fast and go. I ordered lunch special which is included a choice of udon, karage, Japanese omelet, chicken and burdock rice. The price for lunch special is choice of udon price plus 5 euros. read more
Fantastic udon that's worth the wait! Definitely had the vibe of a Japanese noodle house with the lengthy queues (ended up around ~30 min for us) followed by quickly taking our orders and delivering our wonderful bowls of udon soup. Menus are in Japanese, English, and French, so hopefully that covers most bases. * Frozen beer - if you look around, you'll notice that pretty much every group is ordering these beers with a frozen swirl on top. If you don't mind neutral lagers, the novelty is certainly entertaining, if not for the photo ops alone. * Niku Udon (beef with onions) - Beef was very tender and tasty, broth hit that balance between straightforward flavors with a rich depth, and the noodles ultimately had a nice firmness to be pleasant to bite into. * Tonjiru Udon (pork with miso and yuzu broth) - Lots going on here with the intriguing interplay between the citrusy yuzu, savory miso, and pork flavors kept us wanting for more from the first slurp to the last. read more

Expensive, but delicious. My favorite part was the add-on bento box for 5 euros that included burdock rice, egg omelette, and karaage. I don't know why, but that burdock rice was so good, I liked it better than my udon. Tempura udon sets you back about $30 USD, which is insane!!!! But it actually looked amazing and I totally have fomo for not ordering it. read more
While for one reason or another Udon has traditionally played second fiddle to Sushi and Ramen amongst Japanese cuisine especially abroad, that doesn't mean that it doesn't deserve your attention, and Sanukiya is a great place to get it in Paris. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? While Sanukiya doesn't exactly have a ton of floorspace to work with, the atmosphere is a cozy one, and I was truly impressed that virtually the entire staff were at least trilingual in French, English, and Japanese. I was seated promptly given it was a Saturday evening, and my Beef and Onion Udon came out lightning fast. Just as an FYI, you pay at the counter with your receipt when you're done, which I liked. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Price is one thing that caught me a bit off guard during my trip to Sanukiya. Using the price of mid to upper tier ramen as a benchmark, I was expecting a standard dish (and Beef and Onion is about as standard as you can get) to run between maybe €10 and €12. Instead, my standard portion came to €15,00, which seemed to me a bit high. You can get truly fantastic dishes in this city for less, and my experience at Sanukiya would have been pretty much perfect if this were a bit more affordable. No Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Wow. Watch out ramen, because this was a truly fantastic Japanese noodle dish. Beef and onion may seem a bit basic when compared to some of the more exotic noodle dishes that are gaining traction around the world these days, but this Udon was out of this world, with flavorful broth and tasty noodles mixed nicely with diced beef and onions. This was perfect for a cold Fall evening. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? If they could bring their prices down just a bit Sanukiya would be one of my favorite spots in the city. Until then, I can only say it's A-OK. No Star Granted. read more
Wasn't actively seeking to eat at this place so when we got hungry and wanted to find a quick dinner, YELP saved us by recommending this place! We had just finished our tour of the Musee de Louvre and we needed something within walking distance and this was about a quick 10 minute walk after exiting the Carousel du Louvre. When we got there, there was already a line starting outside the door... I understand that it was around dinner time, but I didn't think it would be that popular that people would be willing to line up and wait in the cold. The restaurant was fairly small with a long table along one side of the wall, and the remainder tables in the dining area. The tables are fairly close to each other and you can practically hear the conversations of the people next to you (I know I unwillingly did.. found out some juicy stuff too.. lol). They serve traditional Japanese dishes such as udon, curry, gyozas, etc. and the food was fairly good. Their udon noodles had a nice softness that just seems to warm up your entire stomach. They also had expensive Calpico... which I found funny because they were so cheap back home in the States. When I paid my bill and left... there was still a line outside. Two trips - the udon is the TRUTH. Had the cold udon with pour over sauce. The tempura comes hot, but others come totally cold (eg the pork belly). Can get additions like radish, wakame and half cooked egg for additional euros. Will be back to try the hot udon and dipping sauce ones... Staff and menu can be in english read more

So good, Lunch Set B can get u any udon with rice, fried chicken and tamago with any drink. Only 27€ such a steal. Food was amazing. Great atmosphere. Waiters spoke english so it was easier to order and wpuld definitely come back again. I ordered the bukake udon read more
Superb service and food offering, featuring perfect noddle texture and broth balance. The karaage chicken was on point, as well as the tamago, mushroom rice and pickled fruits.
