Great meal garage or fried chicken as an appetizer and curry udon. We added a poached egg, seaweed and fried tofu to our dish. The frued chicken was served hot, was very tender and had great flavor. The broth with noodles was spicy and rich. The noodles were perfect and the portion was a nice size and I thought I could not finish but this was sooo good. The staff was courteous and the food came out quickly. When.we arrived we were immediately seated but when we left thete was a line to get in. Enjoyed this place!
We always have to visit here when we come to Paris since we discovered it several years ago. The small shop is run by twins. My go-to is karaage udon. Don't forget to pour the sauce on the soft udon and fried chicken/egg. Come during lunch and you can get the set. Hubby likes the Torigobo Gohan and omelette. Usually, you can't help but add more karaage.
** Perfect way to get your noodle fix for all the tourists that want to take a break from the local cuisine. A bit of a wait but well worth it! Tired of eating steak frites for the 4th time in a row but not sure what else to try? Look no further! This udon place was so good that my fiance and I came here not once but twice on our week long vacation in Paris. Might be the best udon I've had (granted I've never been to Japan) as it beats out pretty much every place I've had in the US. I ordered the Duck udon both times. The broth was incredibly rich and unique tasting, and the noodle texture was perfect. We came in March around a colder time, and this was the perfect fix on a rainy day. There can be a bit of a line depending on when you go, but its worth the wait! The only downside is that if you are very hungry, it might not be enough to just order one bowl. The duck udon was just a few pieces of protein and noodles, so not too much substance in the bowl, but the taste is on point. It seems like there are other add ons you may want to consider, or plan on hitting a bakery afterwards. The inside is very cramped but its expected for the area.
The first time we were in Paris I bookmarked this place. It just so happened we were looking for a brunch spot and I stumbled across my old bookmark. This is a small space so there can be a wait. Luckily we only waited about 5-10 minutes. We were seated inside along the window. The staff speak some English and were friendly. This is by far the best udon we've had in Europe. The broth is so rich and comforting. The noodles are made in house and fresh and cooked perfectly. We had a wonderful experience and can't recommend this place enough when you are wanting a nice comforting Asian soup while in Paris!
4.5 stars and rounded up! Doing Japanese food proud in Paris! Probably one of the best udon places I've ever eaten at outside of Japan. Came here twice on my recent trip to Paris. Expect a line at each meal, lunch or dinner, since it's a small casual joint that seats about 15 inside at bar areas, and another 10 people in the covered outdoor area. It's a place to loudly slurp down your udon fix while waitstaff greet customers together with "irasshaimase!" and bustle about placing and bringing out orders, not a spot to linger for hours with friends--it's also pretty crowded inside--so the queue moves fairly quickly. If you're hungry best bet is still to get there when they open. That being said I must also say the service here was very friendly and polite, they never rushed us even though they do bring you the check once all items have been served--you can take the check to the counter in the back to pay. Trying several items, I must say this spot holds down the fort with traditional staples like Niku Oroshi udon (beef, poached egg, grated radish), Tempura udon (2 prawn tempura, you can order Hiyashi tempura udon that comes with vegetable tempura too), and Kaisou udon (mixed seaweed). Each broth is unique and fantastic, I haven't experienced this level of authenticity in flavor since eating in Japan. Their Bukkamo udon (duck marinated in teriyaki sauce, poached egg) is hands down stellar, that duck is perfectly cooked, tender and savory...I'm drooling right now. Their eggs are poached perfectly. The side order of Nikumiso Gohan, a small bowl of miso pork over rice reminded me of a yummy Japanese breakfast. The Tonjiru udon was probably the one bowl that I might not get again, the yuzu miso broth flavor was ok, but the pork although sliced thinly felt a bit oily. Thanks for two delicious meals! Wish I lived closer so I could get this more often!
Lives up to the hype of being a Michelin starred udon restaurant! My bf ordered the Tonjiru (sliced pork belly) udon and I got the Bukkake Tempura udon. Both were delicious (pretty on par with udon restaurants in Japan) and the noodles were the perfect chewy texture. My tempura was also fried perfectly and I loved the broth of my bf's Tonjiru udon. I was only in Paris for a few days around Christmas time and the restaurant was closed between Christmas Eve and January 3rd or else I would have come here again because it's THAT good.
Boo Boo and I came here after a few hours at the Louvre museum. There was a long wait but it moved fast. The staff and the setup makes dining here just enough to pace everyone out. We shared the fried chicken and She got the shrimp tempura udon soup and I got the sliced beef udon soup. It hit the spot in a cold breezy day. Cc accepted. I've noticed every restroom in France to be very clean! way to go.
After eating all the French food I could eat for the first few meals, I needed some Asian food to comfort the soul. On a cold night, hot soba with some freshly fried tempura sounded great. My wife and I went around 9pm and the line was still long! However, we didn't have to wait too long before we were able to sit down. They have both indoor and covered outdoor seating. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I tried both the udon and tempura and both were spot on. The warm, perfectly salted broth complimented the tempura and warmed our bodies in the cool Fall night. This is a great place if you're feeling a little home sick from Asian food.
My good people, this is single handedly the best udon place I have ever eaten at. I was suggested this place by a friend who had spent many many years living in Japan. Admittedly, my udon experiences are limited and I came in with no idea of what to order. I was assured that anything I ordered would be positively delicious and that was indeed the case. In fact, days later I am still thinking about this meal and dreaming up my return visit. What should you order? I can, as my friend assured me, assure you that anything you order will be good. You will not be disappointed. Other highlights: Good prices, food cooked right in front of you, and a short wait to get a table or spot at the counter. Also half priced beer at happy hour!
Oh my was I glad to try this place out. There was a long line when I got there around 12 ish. It does move fairly quick. If you have a big party, it is best to sit separately so you don't need to wait for a bigger seating to open up. Anyway, I was happy to eat some udon since I was feeling for something soupy. The udon was bouncy. The broth was flavorful. I didn't feel dehydrated after eating this meal. Overall, stop by this place to give it a try if you don't mind waiting.
Literally one of the best ramen/noodles spots I have ever been. I can't wait to come back to Paris so I can eat here again. I am so happy our hotel was very close by so we ended up coming here 2x on our trip to Paris. It's nothing I've ever had before and it seems very authentic. The soup is flavorful and I loved everything about it! It's a must try. Note that it gets very busy here, we came right when they opened and it got packed every fast and there is usually always a line here. Our hotel was very closeby and we always saw people standing and waiting outside to eat here and that's how you know it's good. One of the servers spoke English too and was very helpful!
I was very surprised by how much I liked getting Udon here. I did not expect anything good Japanese in Paris but was pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong. Not only was everything super delicious, the staff was super kind and attentive. We really enjoyed the Japanese Hospitality that came with our meal. Nothing beats a cold udon and cold beer on a hot day after the Lourve. My only complaint is that it does get busy and the way is annoying as there is not much shade. Nothing they can really do about it except maybe put out an umbrella for your guests.
1. Casually bookmarked this because it popped up on Google Maps. 2. Stumbled around the Louvre for two hours because half of the directions to the Mona Lisa were incorrect. Let's be honest, you only go once and never again. 3. Walk hangrily to Sanukiya at 3pm to realize there's a line outside and think, "But why???" and then see the 10 Michelin stickers on the window. 4. Oh. Maybe this is good. We were totally caught off guard by the Michelin recognition but very down to try it since the line was so short. I'd say that 3-4:30 pm on weekdays is the perfect time frame without a wait. Plus, there's that happy hour side menu with large beers for the price of the small. Loved the A-lunch set side of rice, kaarage, and eggs (and I would get this for a full portion with a side of udon if that were an option). Decent udon, but nothing outstanding. Would go again... just during the hour and a half of no lines :)

This was one of my favorite meals in Paris. We got lucky during dinner time and only waited about 5 minutes to get seated for a party of 4. We asked for any table or bar that became available first. Ended up at the bar with a nice view of the chefs working their magic! I went with the duck udon. I was on the fence about getting this, because I had eaten duck several times already earlier in the week, but I am so glad I did. Incredible umami flavor, tender and delicious. I loved the noodles as well. Perfectly chewy! The bf got the Niku udon and our friends got the duck udon and curry udon. Everyone really enjoyed their dish. I highly recommend this place. Worth the wait and definitely will come back if I ever have the pleasure of visiting Paris again. read more

Awesome. I usually like to eat local food when I travel and was hesitant to get Japanese food in Paris but this was the best udon I've ever had. We tried the bukkake tempura udon (20 euros), karaage udon (14 euros), and the bukkamo udon (17 euros). The tempura udon is your basic tempera (shrimp and various vegetables) with a bowl of udon. The tempera was good and so was the udon but I wouldn't get it again because it is such a "simple" dish. The karaage udon is fried chicken in an egg omelette on top of a bowl of udon. Sounds so simple but it was delicious. The bukkamo udon is duck with a poached egg. The duck was soft, flavorful, and not at all gamey. We got an extra order of udon (kaedama for 4 euros) because the udon was just so good. Note this only comes with the noodles and there is a separate charge if you want more broth. There was a line out the door when we arrived but the line moves fairly quickly. Service is also amazing. The staff was very accommodating of their customers and definitely go above and beyond to help welcome people at their restaurant. They have some great combos for lunch. I highly recommend the karaage udon and bukkamo udon! read more
Hubby and I came here for lunch one afternoon. We had to wait approximately 15 minutes for a table. The restaurant is very small with limited seating. The udon was well worth the wait. I wasn't really hungry and initially try to order a lunch set to share with my husband but they didn't allow it and we both had to order a meal. He got the udon with beef and onions and I ordered a small bowl of miso pork over rice. The noodles had a great texture and bite to them. Surprisingly the miso pork was delicious as well. I would recommend trying the noodles here. read more

We are from New York so we are expecting a lot after reading the reviews. After eating all the foie gras & escargot, I was excited to try some culture food in Paris. Needless to say, I was not impressed but also not disappointed. Don't come here expecting 10/10 but you can expect Japanese hospitality and decent quality udon. Not sure if the udon is made in house, the texture isn't exactly chewy and the tempura is typical. read more

Great udon house. This place seems very popular since all the tables are full and long waiting line. Fortunately, we got there early and didn't have to wait. Udon soup is so good.. noodles are just rightly cooked. Upon visit, I noticed this place is Michelin star restaurant. Tables are very small and not enough space to pass by. They have menu in different languages and servers were very fluent in Emglish. 2 thumbs up..!!! read more
This place seems to be a family owned business and I'm so glad we found this hidden gem. We bought a couple of museum passes from Paris CityVision and came to the pyramid area to pick them up. Due to the yellow vest protest, no metro service was running so we walked about an hour to get here from our hotel. By the time we got here, we got so hungry that we had to change our dinner plan. Fellow Yelp reviewers, you did not disappoint us. This was one of the best Japanese restaurants, ever, period. Yes, it's a tiny little place and I'd imagine it'd be pretty hard to sit inside as it gets hot, but you know it's totally worth it. We are going to try to come back here before leaving Paris in two days. Servers are so sweet and kind and friendly. One of the gals there spoke 4 freakin' languages; Japanese, French, English, and Korean. Bathroom is small but it's clean and adequate. read more

Does not disappoint! I've been eating French food all week and toward the end of my trip, have caught a cold. This restaurant was the perfect food for both those situations! While it is not the best udon I've had, it's definitely up there. I ordered the curry udon (which was pretty spicy) with the raw egg topping (as suggested) and my friend ordered the lunch set A (comes with udon, fried chicken, omelette, and rice) with kitsune udon. The curry udon WAS SO GOOD!!! I really needed a spicy broth to clear my sinuses and this was it! On top of that the broth wasn't too salty and so flavorful!!!!!!!!!! I tried the fried chicken and it was pretty good but the tamago really took the cake!!!!!! The meal was also pretty cheap. Definitely get the lunch set because it is a lot of food and worth the price. Highly recommended. There is also a little Tokyo around the corner so it's a good place to check out afterward! read more

Great place for Udon in Paris! A short walk from the Louvre. I got the tempura udon and the tempura was perfect and the tempura remnants added to the wonderful soup flavor. I waited for 30 minuites which was considered a short wait. read more
Well deserved Michelin star. The line is long but goes fast. Come early if you can. The food is goood and you'll leave with a full stomach. Love that they have a little bench underneath the table to put your jacket and belongings. Most popular ramen is the Tempura vegetable ramen and the beef noodle ramen. Tempura ramen had a better broth concentrated and the beef noodle ramen was kind of a sweet tasting, but still enjoyable. The noodles were very soft and the broth I can tell they must have prepared it overnight. Best of all this combo meal comes with rice with some vegetables and fried chicken karage! read more

I came all the way to Paris from Seattle and I'm eating udon. WTH right?! Well it's just that dang amazing. We went to the night Louve and got out at 9pm on our first night in Paris. By the time we got out I was deliriously hungry and all I could think of was something nice, warm and homey. 2 blocks and 317 reviews told me this was the place to head to. At 9:10 there was a few people in line and we were seated quickly at the bar. They were like a machine and I couldn't help but stare at the deep fry master- making tofu, karaage and tempura. We ordered and I watched as our karaage was made. Sooooo good. Onto the udon. Everyone said the tempura was the way to go. And my Yelp friends did not disappoint. I got B1 so I could pour my own as I went vs soup and here's how good it is - we returned the next night for dinner. Don't be discouraged by the line. It moves quickly. Service is as quick and friendly as possible and everything is made fresh. read more

We came here on a weekday afternoon around 2 PM. There was only a few people in front of us. Within 10 minutes, we got our seats at the counter in front of the chefs. It was fun looking at them cooking. My wife ordered the bukkame (soup on the side) tempura udon and I ordered regular tempura udon. The restaurant was packed at this time so it was a bit of a wait before we could get our food. But they were worth the wait. Both bowls were absolutely delicious. The tempura were gigantic! We washed the food down with 2 bottles of Coca-Cola (en France). Amazing! At least 20 people were waiting in line as we were leaving the restaurant. read more

Wowowow. Aside from being Michelin starred for an infinite amount of years, Sanukiya is also literally the best udon I've had outside of Japan. Be prepared to queue though - my friend and I got there at 3 PM and there was still a wait. The food is absolutely to die for. I ordered the lunch special, which gives you rice, fried chicken, and an omelette on top of your bowl of udon for only 5 pounds extra. I honestly can't even describe the food well enough - imagine the most perfectly balanced bowl of soup you've ever had. The best tasting egg. The crispiest fried chicken. THAT is exactly how the food tasted, because everything was incredible. TLDR: brave the line to come here. Decent prices for Paris, super nice staff, out of this world food. read more
To be honest, I don't really like Udon but wow, this place might've changed my mind. After waiting for a half hour on line (you should expect a long wait), this Udon truly was #ohmazing and was the perfect spot for lunch after visiting the Louvre (5 minute walk). It's very nice Jap food - just udon no Raman. Can't complain. But for the price it felt steep for what you get. We ended up paying €48 and it wasn't like super impressive so I'd say it missed the mark a little. Having said that it's hard to find such quality in Europe... read more

Quite possibly my favorite udon place I have ever been to. I have tried it all over Japan, I've waited the long lines in LA and Vegas for marugame monzo, and even Fukada's Sansai udon in Irvine - which is one of my favorites - do not hold a torch to this spot. This is extremely authentic udon with a very rich yet clean flavored broth. I had the kamo udon (the roast duck breast 15€) and it was so succulent and tender. I was so impressed by how the flavor of the onion and sauce it was sautéed in melted into the udon broth. The udon itself was cooked perfectly and had a nice bite to it. Our other order was the Niku udon (not pictured - beef and onion 15€) which was also very rich in taste and every bit as satisfying. We ordered one small side of pork miso and rice and some pickled radish, which was palatable, but nothing too special (4€). The servers speak Japanese, French and English, and have different menus according to language. If you are craving a piping hot bowl of well made udon while out in Paris, this really is the place to try. It's also been Michelin guided for the past few years. There was a small queue outside before closing, so they're very busy through out the night and a bit of a tight squeeze inside, but again, very much worth it. read more
Amazing udon! Had the vegetable and shrimp tempura Lunch box with omelette, fried chicken and rice. It was so crowded on a Sunday at 3! My daughter and mother in law had tempura udon. Would have given 5 stars but it was a long wait for a table and the food. Also had to keep asking for water but it's understandable because it was crowded. Would definitely return!! read more
Living in Gardena, California, perhaps I should have thought twice about eating udon in Paris, but the reviews were so good and I needed a break from French food. We waited for about 15 minutes or so for a table, which wasn't too bad, but it was also pretty late for lunch by that time. I thought the udon and broth was good, very simple but I don't mind. I liked the large shrimp tempura in my udon. The beef was also tasty. Service was quick! If you're in the mood for udon in Paris, then this is the place to go. read more

Unanimously, this was voted our family's favorite meal of our entire Paris vacation -- and that's not saying the French food wasn't also awesome -- it's just that this really hit the spot for us. We're not new to udon, but this place was unlike any other . The side tofu dish and karrage were especially amazing. Fly to Paris if you're looking for amazing udon! read more
