Love Sante. The staff are fabulous and the services are great. I've gone for quite a few massages (along with my hubby) and they are always wonderful. The crystal suite is very nice if you're looking for a couples massage. It's nice to sit and talk by the fireplace in a private room after a massage. I've also had great manicures and pedicures, but the thing that makes this spa five stars for me is the girls helping me with my makeup and face cleansing issues. I have terribly reactive skin and they had solutions for me that have changed my life (you must ask about the face cleansing mitt - it's amazing!). The only con is a limited spa menu for food, but the food is good. One of my favorites on the island. read more

This place kind of sucks. Was not offered a robe upon check in, which I thought was odd. But I did get a perfect gel manicure which I love. But my pedicure was awful! 3 hours after I left the spa my toes were still not dry and I ruined them! I think 3+ hours for nail polish to dry is just ridiculous, I've never been anywhere that it takes so long. Overall an unenjoyable experience I will not be returning and do not recommend. read more

I booked a makeup lesson for my mom in May 2016. It got off to an awkward start + the woman teaching her said some inadvertently insulting things ("the skin around my eyes will look like that someday, too... Sad but true") but ultimately my mom learned some great new tips and tricks, which colours were flattering for her + some strategies that worked well for her, which tools to use and why, etc. The woman teaching her would show her something on one side of her face + then have her try it herself on the other side, so she really learned how to do things. It was worth it and we had fun. As a result, I booked a makeup lesson for myself + my best friend while she was in town visiting. Again, awkward start. The women who greeted us seemed a little unsure as to what to do with us. They asked us how our day was going three times in a span of one minute. They sat us in a small area where they basically bumped into each other constantly and struggled to share a workspace. Fair enough, my guess is they generally don't do two lessons at once. I explained that my mom had learned about colours + different ways to do things according to her face shape/skin type/skin tone + I was interested in that. I also mentioned that I was interested in how to use things like primers, and that I wanted to know something about contouring. I made it clear that I really don't know anything + that I really was excited to see what she had to show me. This woman appeared to listen to that, + then went about starting. She started putting some stuff on my face + briefly mentioned what it was, but then remained silent. I started asking questions like "why did you choose this? how did you pick the colour?" she was very quiet and super vague. She continued doing stuff to my face silently. I had no mirror + couldn't see what she was doing and so I was asking questions constantly seeing as this was supposed to be a LESSON. Examples: Me: "Ok so what kind of brush are you using?" Her: "This one" Me: "... Ok but why?" Her: "Everyone kind of has their own preference" Me: "What are you doing now?" Her: "I am doing your eyebrows" Me: ".... With that?" Her: "This" *shows little palette* Me: ".... Ok I don't even know what that is. What are you doing?" (I had no mirror) Me: "Ok so what are you doing now?" Her: "Putting the concealer here" Me: "So how are you doing that?" Her: "You just kind of put it on" Eventually, about half way though, she went + got me a hand mirror. So at this point I am laughing + my friend is trying not to laugh because she is listening to me asking hundreds of questions + trying to figure out what is going on + I am getting nowhere. So then she pulls out the mascara. She says that you first put on the mascara, then add the fibers, and then add another coat of mascara. So she does one coat. Pulls out the fibre coat, drops the mascara brush directly on the floor, + then immediately applies to to my eyes without cleaning it off. Then adds another coat of mascara (at this point it has been such a disaster that I am no longer fighting it, I am just in awe). I look in the hand mirror and laugh, + my friend laughs, because it looks so atrocious. It looked like 15 coats of 5 year old mascara. So I tell this woman that it looks terrible. She actually agrees with me + then tells me it doesn't usually look that bad when she does it on herself, but she just doesn't know how to put mascara on other people. What? So she washes it off + applies normal mascara + it looks way better. Then continues with my makeup. Silently. So I give up and mentally check out and listen to the woman doing my friend's makeup because she is actually teaching her something. At the end of the lesson, the woman doing my friend's makeup asks if we have any questions, so I start asking questions because I have learned basically nothing. Again, she was very vague with her answers saying things like "it's up to you", "everyone does it differently", "you have to use your own judgement". At which point out that I don't know enough about makeup to have any judgement. She just kind of shrugged+ laughed. Let's review what I said I wanted to learn about: Primers and such? No. Contouring? No. Although she did briefly run bronzer underneath my cheekbone. Anything regarding appropriate products for me according to face shape/skin type/skin tone? No. At which point I say, "well, I guess I will just have to go to Sephora if I want to learn this". Both women agreed with me, not recognizing the irony in the fact that we had just paid $200 for a makeup lesson. When I left, I told the staff at the front that I was not happy with my end product, but that I was willing to see what it looked like in natural light before I made my final assessment. They graciously said that if I didn't like it, I could come back in for a touch-up. But after 2 hours and $200, I didn't have the time or the energy. Should you book a makeup lesson? This spa was quite nice. It is large, spacious and very calm, even when fully booked. The lounge area is almost like a living room and quite nice, with windows on two sides. There are several different outdoor spaces, allowing different groups to find privacy. The mineral pool has a fantastic view over the valley. There are nice touches in the change rooms, as well, including plastic bags for wet swimsuits. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend it to someone in search of a spa experience. It may have been due to being there on a very popular weekend, but it was very well staffed and the spa host was around constantly, offering to move chairs, bring us anything we needed, pick up glasses, refill things, etc. read more

At the top of Bear Mountain in the Westin Hotel, Sante Spa is a great spot to relax after golfing one of the two world class golf courses the resort has to offer. Steam facilities, sauna, and outdoor mineral bath are included with treatments. A full selection of massages, and beauty regiments are available. The staff is friendly, and eager to help. The change rooms are well appointed with toiletries, deodorant, toothbrushes and such if you forgot your own. Clean, and comfortable, I will go back next time I'm in Victoria. read more
