Lloyds TSB Bank

I've been a customer of Lloyds Bank ever since I joined them as a student back in the mid 80s. The…read moreservice has generally been good over the last few decades and I've seen various innovations come and go. However, despite the internet age and the convenience of internet banking, it's still reassuring to see a branch of your bank on the high street. The Epsom branch of Lloyds is very convenient for me as I can pop in her before work. They've been trying to jazz up the appearance indoors but ultimately, what we want as customers is fast, efficient service by the tellers and customer service agents. My philosophy is to get in quick and get out quick! I've used this Epsom branch to make overseas transfers of money and to deposit cheques, which still can't be done online. They've been good at delivering the service. No complaints from this customer.

Well first the inside appears to have changed beyond all recognition, with separate "stations" depending on what your transaction is, a section almost for everything? I will give an example of what he said to me, I asked about the £150. transfer fee that NWB boasted, he said nah you wont get that till February do you want to wait that long then you get it not all at once I wouldn't. It seemed to be that he didn't want the bother of transferring my account, shame on you NWB total of time I spent in his office 7 minutes. I would never recommend you to anyone.

Having recently moved to the UK, getting everything set up with a new banking system can be a little overwhelming, and Farishta made the entire process feel effortless. She took the time to explain everything clearly, helped resolve every issue I had, and genuinely made me feel looked after rather than rushed. It's rare to encounter this level of personal service these days. Farishta is a tremendous asset to Barclays and exactly the kind of person who makes you want to remain loyal to a bank. I couldn't recommend her -- or the Hampstead branch -- more highly. Thank you, Farishta!

Queuing is the biggest issue in this newly refurbished branch…read more Wait times to see an advisor, a cashier or even to use the self-service tills are above average. The staff do try and make sure that people are in the right place but it does little to solve the fact that a lot of people use this branch. The advisors operate an open appointments system and you book in and wait your turn. The waiting area is acceptable and the branch is bright and clean. Privacy is not that great in branch. There are rooms for consultations but there are also open units which are visible and audible to other customers. It's luck as to where you end up. Staff are generally helpful, although, as with all banks and building societies there is the odd issue. Account opening and maintenance is, in general, hassle free though. Facilities for the disabled are more limited but the branch is fully accessible. New passbook machines have been introduced which allow certain passbook transactions to take place without a cashier - these should help queues as people get used to them but, at present, much help is still required!

Visits to banks seem to be an necessary evil these days and, even if you're not struggling…read morefinancially, the trip to the bank can still be full of stress. This is certainly the case at Abbey Woking. The branch, situated in the Peacocks Centre is bright and well-lit. There's a cash machine on the outside of the bank and an internal lobby with a further two cash machines and a phone line to their telephone advisers. Unlike some banks the lobby is not accessible when the bank is shut. Recently the branch has undergone some cosmetic changes to offer a little more privacy to those talking to advisers because, with the exception of three small rooms, advice is given in the open in the area between the lobby and the customer service desks at the rear of the branch. Privacy was always poor. Now it has improved slightly but is still not great. There are 5 cahsier positions in the bank although if you find more than 2 manned you'll be lucky. This is one of my gripes as often there is quite a long queue. Although staff will sometimes line walk to see if anyone is just paying in a cheque it would be great if they could increase the cashier numbers at busy times - there always seem to be a lot of staff seemingly milling around. Staff at the counters are generally friendly but the same cannot be said of those who staff the front desk (incuding some of the management). They will try to fob you off at every opportunity. They are also unwilling to offer any flexibility for finance review meetings. The branch opens at 9am but the first meeting cannot be arranged until 10am because of staff meetings. They clearly don't want the custom that badly. In terms of selling to you, Abbey are not that bad - they're not perfect, but they're not bad. This really is a branch that's let down by poor management.

From the outside, the bank really does stand out, it is cool and beautiful with modern bricks. Inside and outside the store has a good amount of cash machines and newer ATM's where you can do most of your banking activities, and they also have a counter service too. The bank also has slight twists in the decor which are pretty cool and modern to emphasise the location in Westminster, London such as Big Ben engraded into the wall where some of the banking machines are. The staff didn't seem too friendly or welcoming, albeit this is common for London, it again is a shame to see.
