Lloyds TSB Bank
(1 review)
I've been a customer of Lloyds Bank ever since I joined them as a student back in the mid 80s. The…read moreservice has generally been good over the last few decades and I've seen various innovations come and go. However, despite the internet age and the convenience of internet banking, it's still reassuring to see a branch of your bank on the high street. The Epsom branch of Lloyds is very convenient for me as I can pop in her before work. They've been trying to jazz up the appearance indoors but ultimately, what we want as customers is fast, efficient service by the tellers and customer service agents. My philosophy is to get in quick and get out quick! I've used this Epsom branch to make overseas transfers of money and to deposit cheques, which still can't be done online. They've been good at delivering the service. No complaints from this customer.

Well first the inside appears to have changed beyond all recognition, with separate "stations" depending on what your transaction is, a section almost for everything? I only wanted to pay in a cheque for another Bank, something I could always have done in the past, however was told that they only took customers whom banked with them, even though the cheque was drawn on their own bank!!

I will give an example of what he said to me, I asked about the £150. transfer fee that NWB boasted, he said nah you wont get that till February do you want to wait that long then you get it not all at once I wouldn't. It seemed to be that he didn't want the bother of transferring my account, shame on you NWB total of time I spent in his office 7 minutes. I would never recommend you to anyone.

Having recently moved to the UK, getting everything set up with a new banking system can be a little overwhelming, and Farishta made the entire process feel effortless. She took the time to explain everything clearly, helped resolve every issue I had, and genuinely made me feel looked after rather than rushed. It's rare to encounter this level of personal service these days. Farishta is a tremendous asset to Barclays and exactly the kind of person who makes you want to remain loyal to a bank. I couldn't recommend her -- or the Hampstead branch -- more highly. Thank you, Farishta!

It's a useful location within the shopping centre, offering basic banking facilities including ATM's which are open to pay in and withdraw money whenever the mall is open. Otherwise, the branch is open between 10 am and 5:30 pm Monday to Saturday, but at certain times which includes the final hour of opening during the week and the whole of Saturday they do only offer digital/automated services which isn't ideal, but at least it keeps the store partially open. From the outside, the store looks good with the purple, modern theme similar to the Natwest logo but the interior of the branch is a little old and it's a shame the interior and exterior don't seem to match - having a layout similar to the Piccadilly Station (Manchester) branch would match perfectly. I really like how the sort-code for this branch is "602012" with the 60 meaning Natwest and 2012 marking the year of the Olympic Games which were held in Stratford, with the Olympic Stadium just a short walk away (Westfield its-self opened towards the end of 2011 ahead of the games). A well-located branch offering basic banking facilities within a shopping centre, but if you're looking to do more, speak to a member of staff or avoid long queues for an understaffed counter, this branch isn't for you. 3*

I think perhaps the reason I like it in here, is because I like gadgets. Anything that makes my time in a bank or in any establishment for that matter, faster and or smoother, gets a thumbs up from me. They also have people at the door saying 'Hello, how may I help you today.' Makes me think of that film with Will Smith, I Robot - with these scary murdering machines that will all one day take over the world. Funny old thing technology. I love it but at the same time have a deep seeded loathing for it because there is no such thing as anonymity anymore. That's life in the 21st century for you. Makes me thing of that 60's series with Patrick Mcgoohan, yelling about not being a number, but rather; "a free man." What was it called again? Oh yeah, The Prisoner.
