I inch piece of elastic was replaced for $20 vs $130 price Santana shoe repair was asking
    Kathleen P.

I sent pictures of pair of Via Spiga sling back heels that have a damaged elastic stretch band on one shoe. They quoted me $130.00 to fix the elastic strap. Went to dry cleaning/shoe repair shop and was charged $20.00. something awry at Santana shoe repair. total scam. how can you justify $130 quote to replace one inch , literally of elastic?

I had the opportunity to tour Santana Leather Care today. I have done business with them before but this time I got a behind the scenes tour of the place. Which was amazing. The parking is decent. Everyone that was on the tour was able to find parking which was great. The GPS bring you directly to the location. The parking lot was very clean, just as I remembered last time. When we first arrived we were greeted by Kara who is Robert Santana's PR person as well as her intern who was absolutely amazing as well. They both were stunning. Robert Santana was extremely pleasant and very humble he gave us the background of the company and walked us through some of the processes they use to restore items such as handbags, shoes & other high end items. One thing I was impressed with was how they treat their staff everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and Robert & Yury seemed to care about them a lot. The quality of work that they do is absolutely amazing. I plan to come back in a few days with some items that I need fixed. Overall great place awesome location and impeccable service.

I'm going to give 4 stars because the *Sole replacement sticks out, *The heels have a tiny gap between the shoe itself. *And it took forever!!! They also feel really hard when I walk, like the sole has something else added to it? Not like my others.. Anyway positive: *Red lacquer is more close to factory than Leather Spa Care in NY *They did an amazing job on color matching some spot that were scratched up pretty bad on the heels *The point at the front looks like it's new *I think they cleaned the inside as well, which is awesome All in all, I will be sending in my others to be repaired

I have a love-hate relationship with my wedding shoes. I lusted after them for months before laying down the plastic; but then hobbled around with what must have been a sprained toe for months after, having jammed my feet into their dainty Italian toebox all day and night. But they're beautiful shoes, with sentiment, and I do still get use out of them, so I want to keep them looking nice. I'm also notoriously tough on shoes... so despite only a few wears, the leather was quite scuffed up, and the heels were absolutely chewed (getting caught in sidewalk cracks and that sort of thing). I also brought in a second pair of Lobo's -- satin. These poor puppies also have nicked-up heels and snagging to the satin on the sides. I was told they could order the leather and re-cover the heels on the first pair; and that they'd need to consult and call me back on the second pair. The next day, I received a call that they could strass the heel; but not re-cover... I passed on that. The first pair was set to be done in one week. I got a call the day before telling me that the leather had not yet arrived so the shoes were not ready. But they failed to call me when the shoes were complete... I finally called them after another week had passed, and was told they were all ready for pick-up. Slightly annoyed they hadn't notified me, I headed out to Raleigh to pick them up. Very pleased with the work -- they're a definite improvement, and well-cobbled. I shot a pic of their work on the heel. They also offer red restoration and vibram-like soles to preserve the bottoms of your Lobo's.

When I opened the box that my shoes were in, I almost cried!!! They did a beautiful job! I My shoes look almost brand new again! Thank you Santana Creative!

Here's a sample pair of Bruno's which saw many months of abuse and are new again.

We take all of our loubies here and they always do an excellent job for shockingly reasonable prices. The staff is always extra courteous and helpful. The back shop talent does such an amazing job that we wear our CL's daily, no need to stare at them on a shelf hoping that they don't get scratched. Santana has your back!

I sent my brand new never worn Louis Vuitton shoes in to have the toe repainted. The shoes is mostly white and I wanted to protect them so I sprayed them with repellent. After spraying them I placed them back in the duster bag without allowing them to dry which rubbed off the paint. I sent in both shoes to ensure both shoes would be the same color and would match. I get a call notifying me they received my shoes and it could be repaired no problem. About a week later I get a call asking me did I want to repair my other shoe as well. I immediately say the other shoes is fine there's nothing wrong with it. He then states it has a scratch on it. I tell him to send picture to my email bc that impossible. The picture show a cut not a scratch which clearly was done with a sharp object a razor a knife of some sort. I sent pictures of my shoes prior to me send them only for them to say we didn't do it and will not pay for me another pair of shoes and they are not responsible. I paid over 1200 for those shoes never worn don't waste your money with this company they mess up your stuff and refused to pay for THEIR MISTAKES!!!! BEWARE PEOPLE OR THROW AWAY 1200us dollars

BAD JOB when replaced heel!!!! (Bump, wrinkles & different leather material than the rest of the original shoe).

BUYER BEWARE. A simple rubber heel tap replacement cost $56 and took 3 weeks. Kicker is they didn't even bother to buff the boots.

If I need a strap replaced on one heel, can that be done if I lost the original strap? If so, how much is the repair?

While I do not know the cost, expect to pay at least $200+ if they have to get another strap. They will try their best to find a match.

    Can you clean sheepskin (Uggs)?

Hi Amanda, yes we can, we charge $55. Thank you for your interest in our business!

Despite that, I found Galatea to be a classy store but with a bohemian laid-back vibe. The separates were mostly of softer, less constructed fabrics, and of styles you don't see in the mass market stores. The fabric textures could work well for both casual or professional wear. It's always good when you can add something to your wardrobe without fear of seeing it on someone else the next week. With that; however, Galatea isn't someplace for young fashion, but rather a store for the woman who feels young at heart without necessarily being slotted into the "middle-age" genre of clothing. The clothes aren't inexpensive, though, so be prepared. Galatea also has some truly beautiful jewelry, scarves and handbags to complete whatever look you're after. The ladies working here cheerfully answered my questions and made recommendations on some of the jewelry I was perusing, but were not pushy, overbearing , or shadowing me around the store like some crazy stalkers. It's not a place I'd gravitate toward, mostly because it isn't my style; but I wouldn't mark it off my list if I needed something different.

Many of my Galatea items become favorites and get worn out because I reach for them so often. The prices aren't super cheap, but since I end up wearing the items for a few years they actuallyl become bargains. I'd rather pay $75 for a shirt I wear 100s of times than $12 for one that shrinks weird after two washings and has to go to the thrift store. The styles are mostly comfortable and unusual, but work well for artsy or relaxed offices, low-key dressy events and socializing. A friend characterized the clothes as "California" in style. The store stocks several Made In The USA brands and lots of organic cottons, linens, etc. They also have lots of locally-made jewelry, handbags, candles, etc. While it's a grown-up, non-trendy women's store, my 15-year-old has been known to pull an item off their substantial consignment racks in the back of the store and make it work in her teen wardrobe (she's a Free People, Madewell, Urban Outfitters shopper usually.) The staff is friendly and very low-key. If you prefer shopping without having to make idle small talk, they will allow that. If you want assistance and like talking through your wardrobe choices, they will do that as well. Bonus: they sell Locopops popsicles which is always nice on a summer afternoon!

And I say this as someone who has been to many a thrift shop, as well as a couple of the other vintage doors that show up on Yelp in the Research Triangle area. On this occasion I was in dire need of a dress to wear for a mehndi social event and was looking for something very much in alignment to a beautiful multi-colored number I had rented from Rent the Runway last summer. In hindsight, I should have bought that dress when I had a chance, but that's the thing about hindsight. . . Anyways, Dress proved to be a really fun browsing experience. The store is large and the racks are full and generally assorted by color, which really helps when you're looking for something specific. I tried on two items. One: a multicolored tunic style dress and 2: a really cute romper with some lace appliques. Neither of them got me super excited, so I will keep up my search for the dress that got away. Meanwhile I was pleased to find that Dress also has a healthy selection of well-made jewelry, as well as designer shoes for perusal. I may have struck out this time but this shop is definitely going into my rotation. This Brooklyn girl is definitely starved for some fun fashion finds.
