I have consigned dozens of items (and probably bought as many pieces) and always appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. I have introduced several friends to the store who have consigned furniture. Recently, we have noticed that a young woman who accepts items falls short in the customer service area. She has an air of self importance, and as my friend said recently, acts as if she is too busy saving the world to stop and help us mere mortals. Like any business, Couches to Curios would not exist without customers but this person doesn't seem to understand that. The rest of the staff, from owner Becky, manager Patrick (her son), and the sales people are all great.

When the furniture…read morearrived, there were problems with the scale of the pieces, in particular two side tables that were too tall for the two new sofas. When we took them back to the store with the intention of returning them and replacing them with different selections from the same store, the store refused to accept the return because it was not in its original shipping box. We were told that the in box requirement was in the signed contract. I asked to see a copy of that policy and that contract and they could not provide either one because they doesn't exist. So first the designer chose pieces that did not actually work together, and when we tried to exchange them, they wouldn't accept the return of the pieces, even though we'd only had them for a week. And to add insult to injury all of the pieces, several thousand dollars worth, immediately went on sale a week after they were purchased and they would not make a price adjustment and they certainly never mentioned that in a few days all of these pieces were going to be significantly reduced. This store makes returns and exchanges of furniture so difficult that I will absolutely not buy furniture there and I certainly wouldn't use their designers.

This is not the place to go of you need something same day. Michael greeted us and then was available as we had questions. He balanced giving us space and being available perfectly. We spent over an hour of visiting about different bedroom sets, living room sets, and rugs. We then went to two other stores shopping before calling it a day. Furnture Deal$ had the best price. Furniture deals had exactly what we wanted. We returned a few days later and Michael had all the notes and we ordered everything ( bed, mattress, chest, sofa, love seat, rugs, kitchen table, chairs.... ). We scheduled delivery for the day we moved into our new home. When you're there, make sure what you want is in stock. Make sure that you get everything you want. The Delivery Fee is a set amount no matter how large the order. The day before the delivery, at 3pm I received an automated call with a time window for delivery. The morning of the delivery I received a call with an update that we were next and they would be arriving in 12 minutes. Scott and another furnature specialist arrived and unloaded everything, moved everything, and then assembled everything. They were very respectful of the building, the elevator, and made sure everything was placed Exactly where we wanted it. Through the process, everything was unwrapped and all the shipping materials, cardboard, and packing materials were all removed. A few weeks later, I am very satisfied as everything is perfect, comfortable and functional.

The salesperson was…read moreperfectly adequate and could answer all my questions and since I paid cash, it did not take very long to complete the transaction. The delivery was within the time window that I had been told. The delivery people were very good and while it took about an hour to deliver and set up the moveable frame and mattress, they were careful of the surroundings and did a good job. However, after having had the mattress for 1 week, I emailed the salesperson to say that the moveable bed frame did not appear to be centered on the space and that allowed the mattress to leave a large gap between it and the headboard and effectively no gap between the mattress and the foot board. I also said that I had been mistaken about the height of the mattress and would like it to be higher. The salesperson turned my email over to the service department and they called me to say that "the large gap between the headboard and the mattress was to be expected." As for the height issue, I was told that the charge to adjust the height would be $200. I anticipated that this was 15 to 30 minute job and, thus, the $200 price tag was unacceptable to me. I realize that $200 compared to the $5400 that I had already spent was perhaps considered trivial by the service department. Sadly, I had not read reviews before this purchase and as I see now, there are a number of 1-star reviews primarily complaining about the service after purchase. In the past 10 or so years, I have bought a number of furniture pieces from Crowley Furniture in Lee's Summit. This experience has convinced me to never do business with them again.
