Dog park Review…read more Wowzer this might be the biggest dog park I've ever seen. Felt like a training facility with multiple gates, long fenced walkways and areas off limits. All in all so grateful it was such a big area as our dogs had the place to themselves. It does get very muddy in the parking area so beware after rain or snow. I would liked to have more time here so the puppers could explore more but we were just passing through.

Last week I brought in a dog that came to my door crying, that I can only describe as "emaciated." I kept the dog overnight and observed that he was so hungry he literally was choking in his food. It was hours before he peed he was so dehydrated and drank lots of water. When I brought him to the shelter, the intake officer took a look at his body condition and said "omg that is extreme!" The dog was literally a skeleton. according to owners who claimed him, and dog was released to (the same day I brought him in) he was only "gone one day." No dog gets that thin in a day. My opinion is he was not being taken care of. Today I called the shelter to find out his status. I was told he was sent home to owners same day he came in. Evidently they did not have to account for the poor condition this dog was in! I thought this shelter advocated for the animals; clearly that is not the case. It will be a cold day in hell before I bring in an animal like the one I am describing. I will deal with it in a way that will truly help the animal. Wow, I almost donated to them.... ohhh nooo, not me, not ever. I have photos of this dog, but not posting because it is not helpful and it is downright shocking.

Let's start with their website: the most comprehensive cat personality descriptions and information on shots, spaying, and likes and dislikes (gets along with...). They also feature multiple images of most animals. As an organization that relies on donations to fund their operation they are willing to take on animals other shelters cannot find homes for, and they are willing to keep them for the lifetime of the animals. As someone up in years I was surprised and thrilled that their adoption agreement stipulates that if the owners manage to depart this life without having made provisions for the cat's future, They Want The Animal Returned to Them! not in 50 years of pets have I ever encountered this level of care and concern. we met Tommy at the local Petco after visiting their main facility in the residential hills of Santa Fe, and hen we chose to meet the other cats at Petco and fell for one of them, Maggie agreed to meet us there after the weekend and do the paperwork. this is an exemplary organization that deserves your trust, and adopt or not, donations.

Many times I have brought a foster cat to their "furever" homes and thought "wow, this cat will be living better than I am!" They take great care in their screening process to make sure each cat is placed with a home that suits their personality and requirements. I have never once felt like one of the cats I fostered was going to anything other than the perfect home for their individual personality. Their care and concern shines through everything they do. As a foster, I appreciate their excellent communication and the way they will line up vet appointments as needed. I have been to their facility many times and it is always sparkling clean and cared for by kind and friendly folks. They really support their foster folks, and take the absolute best care of their cats. I can't imagine this is an easy endeavour but they never cut corners and truly care for not only the cats, but the fosters, and the furever families.

She probably wouldn't have been here tomorrow. Jacqueline, who helped us pre-adopt, told us that she had received calls about her. Emma Took her outside so we can get acquainted with her. I lost one of my pups a few months back and my other is lonely. I've been looking for another pup and decided to check out the facility. This new center is really nice, there is a ton of parking as it is kinda out there on its own. It is located about five minutes from El Modelo, just head south on 2nd from Bridge and it is super easy to find. They have a check in system and are trying to maintain social distancing by limiting capacity. You check in and then are free to walk through and meet the dogs and/or cats. If you see one you'd like to spend more time with, you just tell them and you can interact with them further. I found that they had some really great dogs and I could see they had a good amount of cats too. I met a really cute pup named Luna and even brought my pup to meet her but had some concerns, mainly how much larger he is than she was. Anyways, definitely recommend checking them out!

I made sure to set him up for success with all the training I could give him since he was already 2 years old approx. I want to bring awareness to give dogs time to adjust, my dog took about a full year to show his true personality and even then he has improved over the years. I adopted him 3 years ago and he has kept on growing in trusting people more and becoming more confident. Give dogs a chance only if you are willing to give them time, they are 10000% worth the investment of time and effort. Also, donate to your animal shelters when you can! I try to, every year on the day of his adoption :)

Their facility is bright, clean, open, and welcoming. Founded in 1965, Animal Humane is New Mexico's oldest animal welfare organization, and it shows in the care and dedication they provide. When I adopted her, the process was simple, efficient, and fairly priced. Lately, I've been thinking about how I can give back to my community, and the first place that came to mind was Animal Humane. I signed up to volunteer through their website, and they responded quickly--I was able to attend an orientation within two weeks. The orientation was incredibly informative, not just about the organization's mission, but also about the many ways volunteers can get involved. Since then, I've been volunteering in their on-site low-income pet food distribution center, and it's been amazing to see their mission in action. If you're looking to adopt a pet or find a meaningful way to give back, this is the place. Thank you, Animal Humane, for bringing so much joy into my life!

We adopted our Border Collie mix dog Norman aka "Norm" from Westside Animal Shelter and I'm so…read moregrateful we got him. This was my first time adopting a shelter dog on my own, although all the dogs at home I grew up with were all stray dogs that my dad usually got from some golf courses he played. The process was a bit time consuming...given COVID, the shelter could only take very limited number of people in at a time..so you'd have to sign up on a virtual/digital wait-list to be inform when your turn to go into the office was. We arrived around 2pm on a weekend...and our wait was around 1.5hours. They were definitely limited by the number of staff and I wished I knew they needed many volunteers earlier (I talked to one staff when we went in to pick up Norman after his neuter..and the staff mentioned they were 11 people short!!)..so I could stop by to help in any way I could before this adoption. We had Norman for a lil less than a week now and I was so happy with him. At first he seemed shy and timid..but he definitely made huge improvement and progress each day! With more and more days..I found he loved nature...walking..and interested in plants (he was a stray...and from his behaviors..it sermed he didn't really have much interaction with people or other dogs at home before). He's also very gentle...no barking..no aggressiveness at all. Somehow his pot training process was a cakewalk! I didn't really have to teach him much what to do and it seemed he kindda preferred to elimite outside of home anyways! I can't wait to work and spend more time with him. Thank you ABQ Animal Welfare for letting us adopt this precious dog as a new member of our family!

We greatly appreciate the fast service, knowledge, and eagerness to help us find our little Tiger Lilly.
