I hired Hunter 01/25 to trim several trees on my property of which we agreed on a $2400 price. He…read moretold me it would be a two day job (2 - 8 hour days). He showed up at 9 am (day 1) and completed 7 hours of work. When he finished only 2/3 of the work he told my wife he was finished and requested to be paid. The wife paid him thinking he fulfilled his duties of which we agreed on and she also gave him a $200 tip. The next day I inspected the work completed and realized two trees were barely touched. I re-contacted Hunter and told him he had not completed the job as we agreed. Hunter told me he lost money on my job. I asked how did you lose money when you only worked one day of the two discussed and at this point he earned $385 an hour (7 hours worked). I again asked him to honor his agreement to me and finish the job he was paid for with a tip. He refused and asked me to pay him more money to complete the last two trees. Hunter taught me a hard lesson, never pay in full when you dont first inspect the work. I never thought hed take advantage of my wifes trust when I wasnt present.

A huge branch hung over our neighbors yard and was swung and safely landed on our property. There were other challenges(in my opinion) that were navigated and by noon the tree was now a pole. The guys had lunch then right back at it and a few hours later tree gone and workers left things clean. We were sad to lose this tree but what a huge relief to have it safely removed! Since then I've called at least six times and left three or four voicemails, including one saying plainly that it was important and asking him to call me back. Nothing. With El Niño storms on the way and my tall hedges at risk of breaking under wind and rain, being left hanging like this has real consequences. This isn't the first problem. On an earlier job, the crew broke several of my outdoor light fixtures. Nobody moved them out of the way beforehand, and when I raised it, the company wouldn't take responsibility, repair them, or credit me for them. The trimming work itself has been fine. But if you need a company that answers the phone, honors its quotes, and stands behind damage it causes, I'd look elsewhere. If you do hire them, move anything breakable out of the work area yourself and get every commitment in writing.
