I stopped by to take a peak inside Sanrio, since it was a few doors down from Daiso. The staff warmly greeted me when I walked. They were very kind and helpful when I had a question about a product. The store was nicely laid out and organized. I loved all the cute plushy charms. They had so many to pick from. They also sell t-shirts and cat accessories as well as iPhone cases. I enjoyed looking around and taking in all the cuteness. The only downside to this store are the prices. Everything is extremely expensive. I was looking at some of their ball point pens and they ranged from $10 to $15. Daiso and Miniso both carry Sanrio produce that are way more affordable. I bought a Hello Kitty pen, at Miniso, for $2.99 and it's adorable. I can't justify paying $10 to $15 for a pen at Sanrio. It was fun window shopping here today, and this store is lovely. But, I will stick to Daiso and Miniso for all my Hello Kitty needs. read more

Finally came across Cupertino's very popular and well known Sanrio. To be honest, the store was a lot smaller than I anticipated. Yes, there were cute plushies throughout the little shop but that was kind of it. There wasn't much else beyond stuffies. I'm not sure if I came on a bad day or if this is essentially the norm but nothing caught my eye where I absolutely had to purchase. Keroppi items were extremely extremely limited and I don't think I saw a single Badtz-Maru piece. Pros: -The young lady running the show this evening seemed to be handling things solo. She was extremely attentive and greeted each and every customer that walked in. She even made sure to thank us for visiting- how wonderful is she???!!! -The lunar new year background was adorable. There was a gudetama toki doing bag and pen only. I grabbed the pen because I love a good classic gudetama pen as always. . We loved the stuffed animal selection. There was mostly hello kitty and friends style. There was a few hangeyodon items but not much as well. Lots of melody and kuromi. Overall it's in a busy parking lot. The Ambiance inside could be tight and crowded when there are more people. The service was nice and quick. The value of the items is expensive but good quality. Came here out of curiosity. Pros: You are finding a larger selection more than others. I managed to find some rare characters I normally wouldn't find elsewhere. The workers here are also very sweet and attentive. When I asked if they had certain characters, they knew what product they had immediately. Cons: Prices are higher than most. With how hard it is to find some items in the states, it makes sense. They are significantly higher though. So keep that in mind. Overall, a cute little spot with interesting items! I grew up loving Sanrio stores--walking in felt magical, with walls full of adorable stationery, plushies, and all things cute. So when this Cupertino location opened, I was genuinely excited. I waited a few weeks to let the hype die down before visiting... and unfortunately, I left seriously disappointed. First off, the prices are wild. A tiny stuffed keychain was around $30--seriously?! I expected cute and collectible, but not to feel like I was shopping in a luxury boutique. But what really broke my heart? The lack of stationery. That was always the best part of Sanrio stores growing up, and now it feels like that core magic is just missing. I'm glad Sanrio has a presence again, but I won't be returning anytime soon. For any Sanrio lovers out here, this is a place you should check out. They have a lot of plushies and accessories that one would love. It was a little disorganized which made it less appealing for me. I would also say that it was hard to justify some of the prices of their items here. Hard to justify a $30 small hello kitty key chain when there's a DAISO a few doors down that sells Sanrio products as well! As a kid, Sanrio would be a place to spend kid money, but this is definitely not the case for this location. Cute shop, bright and clean. A lot of Hello Kitty and My Melody items, which was fine by me since I was shopping for my niece and those are her favorite characters. They had a nice variety of bags of different sizes and designs (totes, backpacks, coin purses, and more). Love the sweet little quotes on the merchandise. Some items seemed to have the Sanrio character branding, but were just plain paper or containers (with the high price tag), no clear indication of what was actually inside the wrapped plastic, so I wouldn't take the risk as they have a no refund policy. The store did not have as much variety of products as Sanrio stores offered when I was growing up... they do have stuff for electronics though, lol. I did purchase a handful of items for the kiddos (bags, stationery, and stickers), cuz in the end, Sanrio products still have the cuteness factor that the kids love, regardless of how unique it is. Just know that they have mostly bags and plushies here, so if you're looking for something specific, this place has limited offerings. The new generation of Sanrio stores shattering nostalgia...one [inner] kid at a time. Like many in line, I was hoping to relive my childhood but this is not the Sanrio that us millennials grew up with. Where you can get a notebook, pencil/pen, and an eraser for a reasonable $10. Maybe even a piece of gum or candy. They don't have any of that. It's about 80% plushies + keychains. There's also socks, sweatshirts, utensils, pillows, blankets, wallets, purses, and backpacks. Inflation aside, Sanrio seems to be living in 2040 because their prices are HELLA WILD: * $7 for one My Melody Sticker (cheapest thing I could find) * $28 for a thin Cinnamoroll Stationary Set (paper, envelopes, and some stickers) * $44.50 for a 5 inch Pochacco Plushie * $53.50 for a Temu looking Pink Wallet (no characters) I was too scared to look at prices for the larger items. The one thing that seemed kinda affordable was the Pompompurin Dog Harness ($31.50) but with their 100+ inventory of harnesses, they only had medium and large sizes. They didn't get any x-small or small sizes in. So, we left empty handed. If you've made a trip from far away, at least there's Hello Kitty items at Daiso next door that won't make your wallet cry. A couple of friends tagged me when this shop opened up, but I wasn't able to come until today when I was in the area for something else. It was early in the cold morning, and while there wasn't much of a crowd in this shopping strip - there was already a line for this store. There were 2-3 groups in front of me, so the wait wasn't too bad, but since it was cold out - I was definitely glad when it was my turn to go into the store. The store itself in on the smaller side, but filled with a bunch of different Sanrio merchandise for the various characters. Of course, I kept my eyes out for Kuromi and HK stuff. I spent a good 15-20 minutes inside (again, small space, so not many aisles to browse around), and ended up not buying anything. While I thought many of the merchandise was cute - there weren't many items that I had to have, especially for the prices on the tags. I saw a few things that I already had, which were priced higher than what I got them for at other shops. There were a few items that I hadn't seen before, but again - the price just didn't make sense for me to buy them. My fiance stood in line for an hour while I was in another line for matcha. After I bought our drinks, we waited an additional hour. I expected to see hoards of children, but it was mostly millennials shopping for themselves. And I was one of them. I gave this Sanrio 4.5 stars because my favorite store is the one in Irvine. However, this store has more variety than the Little Tokyo store in Los Angeles. The one in Los Angeles sells more clothing than the one at the location. In the future, I hope they have more characters like Badtz Maru, Kerroppi, and Pekkle. Since we waited for two hours, we bought a bunch of things. They gave us 20 minutes to shop, so we had to rush. For those who don't know, I bought this toy set for my daughter at this Sanrio store for $82 before tax, and they told me it was final sale. The price honestly felt higher than I expected, so I checked online -- and I was surprised to see that on Sanrio's official website the original price is $72, and after the sale it's only $54.99, with direct shipping to my home. Out of curiosity, I went back to the store to ask, and the staff told me they're a franchise and they never follow the website's pricing. The funny part is they said the item was final sale, but on the shelf there was no original price and no sale price displayed at all. This place might be good to see products in person, but you can definitely buy it much cheaper on the Sanrio website. read more

04.19.2025 - Sanrio made a come back!....But can you really call it "Sanrio"? When I first heard Sanrio Cupertino was opening, it brought me back to the 90s when I was a kid. (Yes, I'm a millennial and I'm proud of it!) Fellow millennials and the generation before me, have you ever noticed that when you think back to Sanrio, there's a scent? When I think back to the days of strolling through the cramped aisles of Sanrio, where every shelves and display cases were filled with ALL the Sanrio characters, the smell of their magic eraser section comes to mind. Slightly gummy, slightly fruity, slightly sweet. Or, I'm just weird and no one else can relate. What about when they had several sticker picture booths set up? Did you go with your friends every week after school to take multiple pictures only to accumulate hundreds of them over the years? And Sanrio actually had a section for sticker picture books so we can make a little album of our own? Do you remember the crazy amounts of different origami papers aligned with cute small to large jars to keep them in? I probably bought 10+ crane/star origami jars and 1000+ origami papers. The consecutive late nights folding away to achieve the goal of filling the jar? Was your childhood filled with this hobby? Mine was. How about the different music sounds coming from the array of music boxes lined up playing in the background? Each character had a section of their own. Hello Kitty. Hello Daniel. Hangyodan. Keroppi. Although I spotted a very few, it would have felt more magical and interesting if they had brought multiple blasts from the past. It's been a very long time since I set foot in a Sanrio store. Last time being when they opened their store in front of their HQ out in San Bruno (which is closed now), so it was really nice to hear that they're bringing these stores back. There's a huge selection of various keychains, mini pouches, and plushies but when it comes to character selection, they're pretty limited. I was on the hunt for Keroppi items but they didn't have much. The cashier told me that they'll be getting more in since a lot of stuff is being shipped in directly from Japan, which is pretty cool! A lot of items are a little on the pricier side, especially the anniversary collection stuff. There are a few small items that are pretty affordable but it really depends on what you want, which character, and what you're looking for. Pretty small store, which is expected from Sanrio since a lot of their stores were small to begin with. This location doesn't take cash and only takes card/mobile payments only, so keep that in mind when shopping. I went today, Sunday, and it was super busy with a line reaching daiso, so if you're going to shop here on a weekend, expect a long line. Not sure how the shopping experience will be during the week but I'm hoping there isn't a crazy line, but also keeping my fingers crossed for more stuff from some of my favorite characters very soon. The staff here are super friendly, and are very good with crowd control. The store opened yesterday and it was a hit. Today I was able to go early in the morning. We lined up for half an hour to get in. It was worth the wait. The line was organized. Someone was there at the door to call on the next person. The store was a good size. Enough shelf space to display different collections and item type. Found the sanrio items I was eying online. They have good selection of items. I'm glad they have good amount inventories even if there's a lot of people since yesterday. They have plushies, key chains, accessories, bags, slippers, mats, pillows, and more. I've seen both adults and children enjoying their shopping experience. Checkout was fast. There were 3 people at the register so it went by quickly. They have different price ranges. If you are not familiar with the prices online, you might find it pricey, but fans know the prices and getting the items on the spot gives a nice feeling than having to order online and wait for shipping. It's also nice to support the business owners who brought this store closer to us. Can't wait to go back again! read more

As another Yelp member mentioned (Fancypants X.), this definitely is NOT the Sanrio I remember as a kid at the local malls. I was expecting it to be a sensory overload of cuteness, smells (you knooooow what I'm talking about), trinkets, stationary, crafts, all of the characters, etc. Instead, it was lack luster and EXPENSIVE!!!! I'm assuming this place gets busy since they had stanchions outside for crowd control, but when we visited on a Saturday mid-morning, the place was fairly empty. We were asked by two different employees if we needed any help, so I appreciate the attention from the staff. Yes, the store had stuff, but you could really look at everything in the store in under 5 minutes. Main focus of this store was Hello Kitty, but they also had a few Kuromi, My Melody, Cinnamorol, and a couple other characters available. Not the full spectrum of characters that I was expecting and hyping up my daughters about. They had one small rack of apparel, but there wasn't much variety. Looks like the stuff you could buy at Daiso to be honest, with a handful of unique items...but those items were $$$! In the end, my daughter got two pencil pouches, a smaller coin pouch, and a key chain... $48+ later. The bag that they put her purchased items in was a basic white ULine bag with a blue "Sanrio" stamped on it. That just felt like we just visited an outlet store. read more

As others mentioned, this isn't the same as the Sanrio stores we had growing up in the early 2000's. I was hoping for those little goodie bags with the Sanrio bubble gum, but it's different. A lot of plushies ranging on the higher price. Sanrio has gotten a lot more popular in the last few years, and the prices reflect that. However, it was my birthday and so I decided to splurge a bit. I ended up buying a huge cinnamoroll plush, keychain, and socks. I was pleased with my purchase even though I ended up spending $100. But I'm no longer a kid at the mall and now I have adult money so it's okay! Opened less than two months ago, the line to get in was non existent when we came in the late evening. Cheery associate helped me locate the Kuromi, My Melody, & Little Twin Stars items on my wish list, & when I mentioned that I couldn't find a good variety of stickers in-store, the cashier generously gave me a handful of special 50th Anniversary stickers. Service is wonderful, however my middling rating is a reflection of their selection of products; it is lacking compared to the myriad I remember from the bigger Sanrios and Hello Kittys I frequented from ages 2 through 22. I am a die hard Hello Kitty fan and I am very happy that a Sanrio Store has finally opened. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven when I visited this store on February 7, 2025. The only problem is the merchandise is expensive and they are card only and do not take cash. I bought a $6 keychain there that I used to keep on my backpack since it was the only item I could afford, but it broke and got lost! What a bummer! I tried to visit in November and December 2024 and the line was out the door! I have not been back since my visit on February 7, 2025. Given the nostalgia of Sanrio and the hype of its newly opened store in Cupertino. It's a nice addition to drive in more people to the plaza. They nicely manage the crowd and probably to help avoid theft with numbering the amount of people coming inside. Lines have been 30+ min wait to get inside. Most likely you'll see 2 lines in this very corner facing different directions. People are also lining up for Izumi so take your pick. :p I decided to come with my daughter hitting up both spots. It was a rainy day so the wait to get inside Sanrio was no more than 15 minutes; I guess that's the secret - Rain. Majority of the people in line were adults. Guess we're all trying to relive our childhood. Oh this is tough. The store itself was cute but we left empty handed. There was nothing that really stood out for me to want to buy. For those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s on the Sanrio stores at the mall, this is NOT the same as the ones we grew up with. Gone are the plethora of pens, pencils, erasers (that smelled sooooo good), stationary, stickers, pencil cases, wallets and other childhood essentials. This store is filled with overpriced bags, stuffed animals, and clothing. I couldn't find any pens or stationary, which were my two favorite items to get at Sanrio. They're probably trying to differentiate themselves from the cheaper items sold at the Daiso nearby. However, the long lines and merch at this store have no appeal for me. Me and my wife and daughter were around the area and saw that they were holding a grand opening so we decided to stop by. There was a very long line had about a 40 to 45 minute wait but that's expected for a grand opening. Once inside, we noticed how small of a store it was with all honesty. You can probably walk around the whole store within 10 minutes. The selection itself was very small there were a lot more plushy's than anything else. What caught me by surprise was the prices one plushy was $65 and the smallest one I could find could run you up to $30. The service for the most part was OK. Wife loves Sanrio, so we make it a point to visit stores with Hello Kitty merch whenever we get the chance. She got these Pochacco mittens that she absolutely adores, but they are indeed overpriced. In fact, if you use a translator on your phone and do the conversations from yen to USD, you could get the manufacturer's suggested price. In the case of the gloves, they were $24.12 with taxes added, but the suggested retail price from the manufacturer is...$9. Must be them tariffs! The store itself is small but clean and well organized, and the staff is very kind--so no complaints there. It's also in a great plaza with lots of things to do or eat, so you can make a nice trip out of it if you're coming from out of town. Just wish there was a more diverse selection! read more
