Walked past this establishment several times, tends to look quite empty. About a year ago we stopped for a quick pizza slice to take away, was average at best (dough was way too thick, not much cheese and tasteless tomato passata), after that experience we had kept away. Today my husband walked by and decided to order us some sandwiches to take home for lunch. They took over 20 minutes to prepare 2 sandwiches...there were two employees and no other clients, the place was empty, neither of them seemed to know or be sure about how to prepare the order and were extremely slow, not very professional overall. We got home and reheated the sandwiches in their wrapper on a pan. The Bombay one was simply onion bhaji on an over buttered toasted piece of sourdough, this had a few leaves of spinach and there was, in an area of the sandwich, some tasty curry sauce...however this was not spread all over, if it had been, it would have been better...as a result this sandwich was very dry on some areas, gresy (due to the fried bhaji and the buttered bread) on others and just okay when you got a bite with the sauce... The onion bhaji were the floury dry balls type rather than the proper moist onion pieces with batter. This sandwich could have benefited of a better bhaji and some raita style dressing for moisture rather than loads of butter on the bread!. The second sandwich was also underwhelmingly disappointing. The caprese sandwich was supposed to have mayo? I only tasted it on one corner of the sandwich, I did however tasted butter, this one was not as greasy, however it had way too much flavourless mozzarella not enough tomato or basil (just two little pieces of an average tasting sun-dried tomato). All on all for the wait, the price we paid (around £8 or £9 per sandwich) and the disappointing food I would give it 2 stars, however as the bread on itself was good, I decided on 3 stars (also because the place looks clean, is dog friendly, has nice decor and is an independent business). It will be quite some time before I consider visiting this establishment again. read more
