Sometimes you just need something quick and cheap for lunch, and if that is the case and you are in the mood for Indian food then Sangam Mart is certainly an option. I have not had an opportunity to venture around their supermarket so I don't know how good or bad that area is, but I've had their cafeteria food on a couple of occasions. Just to be clear, the speed and price of the food are the big positives, but it comes at the cost of quality. On my first visit, I ordered their Kongu mutton biryani and paneer tikka masala. The biryani was really dull and not very well conceived. The mutton itself was on the dry end and the spices did not pop like you'd expect in a fresh biryani. I'd say the color of the biryani itself is very telling. The paneer tikka masala was decent, but the paneer itself was really dense and chewy. I could at least enjoy the curry some, but would have liked a little more spice in that too. I came back and ordered their chicken curry. To be clear, it was labeled as "chicken curry", not a butter chicken, a korma or a vindaloo, just a curry. The flavors were Indian in nature, but not very harmonious like a well thought out curry. It was also very watery, and the chicken was dry and more bone than meat. The prices here are probably the biggest pull factor for Sangam Mart, they are the cheapest Indian spot in the area by a good bit! With such short lunch breaks and the desire to not burn through your wallet, Sangam Mart has its place. However, with so many other fantastic Indian restaurants in the area, it is hard for me to justify choosing Sangam Mart over the competition. read more

Today was my first time dining here, and I will definitely be back! I ordered a paneer biryani and gulab jamun. I've been searching for gulab jamun for over ten years and finally found it here at this restaurant! My friend's mother made even better ones than this restaurant's, but it was still sweet and delicious. The paneer was creamy and the dish was very spicy. WORST INDIAN STORE TO SHOP NOW. Sangam Mart used to be great, with a great staff and service. Now, it seems that their popularity has made them think they can do and act however they want, because people will keep coming back. I went today to get their "Fresh" rotis. I asked the person making the roti to give me 50 of the ones that were drying so that I could get ones that haven't been sitting there for 2 hours. The person said No. Then I asked the cashier, and she said "No because we don't have anyone to count and pack it." We can see the person who packs them counting and packing very clearly, and the cashier lady said they can't do that. HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE? Absolutely ridiculous. Never going back here again. Dear Sangam, Yesterday, When me and my friend came to your shop for a nice evening tea, one of your employees stopped me and asked me to pay extra for an empty extra cup. Is this a new rule that, If I take extra empty cup for sharing the tea with my friend, should we pay extra? I believe this is unusual even in American shops... I am a person don't drink a full glass of tea and at the same time, I don't want to waste it as well...Taking a glass of tea and sharing it (1/2) with my friend is an offense? This review is for their kitchen and not the grocery store. While the grocery store is pretty standard, I like the way they have been trying to disrupt take-out Indian food segment in this area (we do not have many). The kitchen is a no frill, simple order counter with chefs preparing made to order items. They do have ready to take-out food selection bar setup at the entrance. Menu has a good mix of appetizers, entrees, north, south food selection. Some of the daily evening snack selection is great and sells out fast. Damn, I can't believe I have been a loyal customer to this store since 2007 now. Phew!!! Its been while since I have been shopping here now. I just love the variety of products they offer from snacks, ice-creams, and preparation ingredients. Recently, this year they have opened a to go food service with a fully operating kitchen where they offer lip-smacking Indian appetizers and entrees. Sangam Mart is located in a brand new strip mall, in a pretty isolated part of 54 on your way into Morrisville proper. There's a Subway on the front corner and Sangam has the back corner of the strip mall. Sangam attempts to do what no other local Indian store has done- Westernize! Sangam is like the Whole Foods of Indian groceries in the Triangle. The isles are really wide. The store is well lit and organized. The isles are numbered and labeled. The patrons are young and hip. The food selection tends to be pretty broad- with a fair amount of both North Indian and South Indian foods in terms of breads, snacks, vegetables, etc. The staff are pretty friendly. They'll invite you to open a credit account with them, which is common in India and now offered at Sangam Mart. Sangam has a nice-looking movie selection of rentals/DVDs for purchase in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Telegu. Tons of rice and dal, lots of frozen foods. Nice shop! read more

Though they are giving few dishes for a cheaper price compare to other restaurants quantity is not up to the mark. I am not sure whether he is legal immigrant or illegal immigrant. Long story short he has to change his attitude else some one will file a compliant on him. We were the old customers of this shop. It got all the Indian veg. But if u want fresh veg u should go by Thursday and Friday. In other weekdays u cannot get so fresh veggies. The price are so high and that is the reason why we moved from Sangam to Patels. But onething i like here is that their snacks section. It got so many varieties.
