Had my tire replaced. Was spoken to with rude service by chris and john I believe. And was forced to pick up my car with my key hidden on the back tire. I took my car to seal my tire from a nail puncture and it wasn't on the side-wall of the tire, the staff member insisted that I had to completely change the tire and tried to up-sale a expensive azz tire which I didn't need... The staff member completely lied and said he could not patch up the tire because it was next to the side-wall and said it needed to be replaced... next I took it down the road to Neil at Daly City Automatic Clinic to seal the tire for 30$ and was given great service!! I absolutely hate when mechanics or auto shops cheat consumers who don't know better and take advantage of uneducated customers. I trust these guys more than I trust my parents' Honda service. I came here back in 2016 because two of my tires were flat, and they took me in right away without an appointment. It was the most service I ever done to my car without the help of my parents scheduling an appointment. So mind you, I was 22 and clueless at the time but I never felt like Chris or John took advantage of the things I didn't know. Two years later and they still continue to provide the best service. Today I came in for just a oil Change, battery replacement and brake check. they did the job in two hours and called me for an update. I was in the market for some new tires for my 2006 mustang, and went to these guys to see what they could do. Chris was very helpful, took the time to look at my car, and made some suggestions. I told him that I was thinking about upgrading my wheels to boot. After some discussion and catalogue browsing, I picked my wheel size (18 x 9, standard fitment) and he took the time to ask what I was looking for out of my tires...he made sure that I would be getting what I wanted. It took time for the wheels to come in (they had to be special ordered) but when they did, he took his time, made sure they were installed properly, and made sure that I liked them. Install took less than an hour, and he was a real pro throughout the process. I have nothing but good things to say about this shop. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat. read more

I went shopping at the store in the mini mall came back it was 35 minutes in and the car still hadn't been put on the rack. I tap the guy at the counter on the shoulder and ask about the rotation and balance. He goes out to the shop area and screams something. I sit there for another half an hour and finally just thought "screw it, I'm not going to wait". The gentleman hands me my keys and says oh you can go now. No - "I'm sorry to sorry to keep you waiting for an hour here and not even start on your car", no "Sorry" at all. I had bought two full sets of tires from the shop too, never again. I wouldn't ever come here again. I have a 1994 Honda ex coupe and it needed a ignition timing set adjustment for it to pass the smog check. The guy at the smog check told me it would cost $40-$60 dollars to fix it because it's real simple. Even online said it. Anyways, I woke up early since it open 7:30. Commuted from San Francisco to Pacifica. When I got there I told him my problem and charged me $188. You got to be kidding me. I had no choice but to accept it. I pretty much depended on this place since somebody referred it to me and it look reliable. If you don't know a lot about cars. Don't come here because it's not worth it and they will ball you out. It is really hard to find a good, reliable car place. I was spoiled by my last car shop down in Southern California. I will make this brief. I had to take my car here 3-4 times since the end of January. The first 2 times were average. The last 2 times, were more bothersome and inconvenient than anything else. I brought my car in at 7:30am to have the check engine light diagnosed... at 5:45pm (read 15 minutes before they closed....) I still hadn't heard back from them at all. I called and was told they didn't have any answers for me yet. I was kinda bothered by this because it was so close to closing time... If I didn't call them, were they NOT going to call me? I don't get it. Looking back, I called them for updates more than they called me. Maybe I'm impatient, but maybe it shouldn't take all day to run a check engine test (with no diagnosis). read more

Not sure why the negative reviews... I initially debated on taking my car here based on the reviews left by others, but thought I would take a chance. I called last week to make an appointment for a tune up and oil change for my vehicle, which I dropped off today. I had no clue if I needed new tires or brakes (I had a feeling I needed new brakes), so when I checked in, I asked about the additional services. I said I thought I needed new tires or at least 2 new tires (it was 2 years since I had purchased a set snd at that time the tread on the other 2 were fine and did not need replacing) Chris went to look at the tires and could have easily told me I should replace all 4 (since I originally thought I needed to anyway) but instead told me they were fine and he would just rotate them. Secondly with the brakes he could have easily told me I needed to replace both front and back brakes, instead when he called he told me my front brakes needed replacing but my back brakes were fine. I went ahead with the brake replacement and had my car back before the end of the day. When you hear about new brakes you also think $$$... I had a $ in mind and they were right inline with the estimate I formed in my head, so there was no surprise when I was given the quote/final bill... Chris was friendly and honest. This place is close enough to my house where I could walk home and back to pick up my car. I will probably be back for my next service. The only thing I regret was not asking when the next service should be ( I suppose I can always wait for the maintenance light to turn on again and show up). read more

I have to post this because I do not want people to be scammed. I came here few times before for oil change and such, but today I came for a different reason. Initially I wanted to change the oil, but then decided to come back another day due to my work schedule conflict. While driving to work I noticed the car not accelerating properly so I drove back in the emergency lane with the blinkers on to get safely to the point of my destination. I came back to the shop and I clearly explained to the guy what happened with my car. He said that he needed to run diagnostics on the car which will cost $150.00. He said he will have the car ready around noon and I told him you can keep it as long as you needed. It was approximately 9am when I left the car. My husbands comes in the afternoon and they tell him that the transmission is busted. Which would be clear to conclude actually without "testing" the car, based on the details I had provided earlier. I had explained that the car was not able to accelerating pass 25 miles and would occasionally not accelerate at all. I came back to the shop at 5:45 to pick up the car. I asked the guy to provide the report to me and he told me that he did not have the report. Then I asked if he had run the test and he said he did but does not have a report. He told me that he had hooked up the car and took it for a test drive, up the hill (the car cannot accelerate and he takes the car up the hill, duh) and the car got stuck there and needed towing. That clearly indicates what kinda morons these people are. That is besides the point, he then proceeds on telling me that all proper checks were done on the car and I need to pay him $150.00. I said ok but I still wasn't clear why they took the car for test drive someplace on the street and got stuck and they couldn't clearly tell that the transmission failed? I paid him and left because I had no other choice. He did not have to charge $150.00 because the job was not done. I immediately called my husband and explained to him what had happened. He tried to move the car but the transmission had its last breath and failed. He went in to request to keep the car on the parking. He guy then proceeds to tell him that the report was not done because I stormed in the store and demanded my key. WTF, what kind of uneducated moron is this guy? He lied to my husband straight up. He did not tell me to leave the car to run a report and why would I have paid him then? If he had told me that the test was not done then what did I pay for, taking my car up the hill? Clearly he was trying to defend his ass therefore he lied through his teeth to make me look bad and to cover himself. I don't understand why he contradicted himself by telling me that all the checks were run w/o providing the report and telling my husband that he did not have enough time to run the tests because I wanted the key. The car was in the shop for 9 hours. Duh... Wow, I really thought that these guys were nice and honest, apparently they are scammers!!!!! You really want someone with better values to take care of your car. read more

If I could give them a negative rating, I would. I had purchased a used vehicle which I wanted inspected. I looked on Sanford Firestone's website and they offered a 160 point inspection that included changing of the oil, topping off fluids and an extensive inspection of the vehicle. I even called the station and they told me they were having a special for that service for $30. Unfortunately, I was unable to bring my vehicle in during that special period so when I finally went in and requested that inspection, it cost me $60. A few hours later, I got my vehicle back with some recommendations. However, there were many services that were to completed that their website clearly stated would bed one. After realizing those services were not done, I notified Firestone. They gave me a call back and told me to bring in my truck to complete those services. However, the manager I spoke to obviously sounded irritated because a customer complained and now he has to make the customer happy. I didn't feel comfortable bringing my car in anymore so I just requested a refund since the service I paid for was to completed. After writing a letter to the owner of Firestone and including copies of the description of the service on the website, he wrote back to me that they did nothing wrong and that they weren't going to refund my money. And conveniently, the service I spoke about MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared from their website. This service station and ownership know nothing about honesty, accountability, responsibility and customer service. I will be bringing my complaint up with the Better Business Bureau and Firestone Corporation. read more

I am not sure about all these bad reviews, when I read them, a lot of it sounds like people who had their own unreasonable expectations of paying nothing for labor, or miscommunications on their part with Firestone. Well folks, labor costs money. .. deal with it. I have NEVER had a bad experience at this family owned business, I have been using them for over 15 years. I won't even take my new car to the dealer because the dealers are such a ripp off, but not Sanford Firestone. I used to always take my cars to dealers until I tried Firestone. They do my brake jobs, I buy tires, good tires from them, the do my rotations and so on. Great service. I have been turned away several times thinking I need service, checking my brakes, and they have NEVER done work that did not need to be done, nor have I ever been charged for anything without getting a quote before they do any work. I would like to think I had visited this location on "a bad day" but after two bad experiences here I feel that is simply not the case. My first encounter with this location was when I suddenly had a flat tire after running over a piece of jagged metal near the Pacifica recycling yard. Sanford Firestone was the closest tire vendor for me to have my tire replaced. After my car was towed there I asked if they had any promotions for tires and if I could have my oil changed at the same time as my tire being fixed. The response to my question was a cold: "We don't have time, you're lucky we are doing your tires." I was a bit taken aback but with a nonoperative vehicle I didn't really have the option to take my business elsewhere. After I purchased two tires (with quite a large price tag) I was told that the mechanic could not put my spare tire in its proper location because the trunk would not stay open for him to do so (the shocks are out) and the trunk was too heavy to hold up. I was surprised because I had watched the kind man who towed my car take it out without much trouble. Before I left the parking lot I managed to put the spare tire in its compartment by myself after a five minute struggle - something that would have taken an able bodied mechanic no more than a minute and any two persons no more than 30 seconds. The staff saw me struggling and no one offered to help. One week after my tire was replaced I noticed a loud, jagged sound when turning my wheels to the right. The rubber in the well where my driver side front tire was had not been fastened securely and was bent from scraping my new tires while driving. This time I returned to a more friendly and trustworthy mechanic to have the issue resolved . . . for free. My most recent experience with Firestone was also frustrating (yes I decided to give them another chance because of the outstanding reviews here on yelp and proximity to my house) I called to ask if they had time for an oil change on a Saturday afternoon. The response again was cold a cold: "no, too busy today" When I asked about Monday I was told quickly and with a frustrated tone that I could call back Monday morning or book online. Once again, it was not so much the message but the delivery. Perhaps Sanford Firestone has so much business that they do not need to practice quality costumer service with all of their clients. I'm afraid as a consequence of this experience I will not be returning. If you choose to have your car serviced here I hope you have a more positive experience. read more

Very helpful and friendly staff, and the location is very accessible and close to starbucks, shopping, and restaurants to keep you busy while you wait. Was disappointed however, when I went to start my car (which only had an alignment done) to notice a very rough idle / dieseling. I popped the hood and found that a technician had disconnected a vacuum hose and haphazardly left a rag in the engine bay. Not a big deal, as this was only one careless technician's misstep, but I probably won't return due to their carelessness. At first they seemed like a decent place to go but after a few repairs that had to be re-repaired at another shop I will never go back. We had the brakes repaired on our FJ toyota and we spent over $600 only to have the same problem in 3 months. The Toyota dealer fixed for the same price and fixed it correctly. We also took our sons VW Jetta there for a water pump repair it's been 6 months and the water pump is leaking. I am most likely going to have another shop fix it since these people can not be trusted. read more

I wish I knew more about cars to properly review this place. But I drive a turbo vehicle and recently had my "check engine" light come on. Not a good sign for this type of car. Don't go here! Especially if your a woman like me. I made an appointment to get a screw removed from my tire. They told me it couldn't be fixed and had to order a tire ($200+). The reason they stated because it was on the side of the tire. I told him I couldn't wait around and he warned me that the tire might rupture and I shouldn't drive it. Thank goodness I didn't listen and drove it to Costco where a wonderful man took a screwdriver and popped it out (it was the size of a tack) and checked to see if any air was coming out. I love supporting local businesses. I made an appointment to drop off my car for a brake job. They called me when they had the quote to get authorization to do the job. I asked if they could also rotate the tires while the tires were off. They did so and didn't charge extra. They also adjusted my emergency brake so that it works better and is much stiffer. I've had them change oil and put new tires on in the past. I've always been happy with the service I receive here. Thanks for the solid help. read more

They were able to fix the problem and I was out the door in no time. Another time he gave me a price for tires and a wheel alignment that saved me hundreds. I am very critical when it comes to customer service. John and Chris have excellent customer service! They go above and beyond when it came to explaining and attending to my questions. Came on a Friday with no appointment around 730ish. John greeted me as soon as I walk up to the counter. Needed a complete brake job. He told me that he won't know what the cost would be until he starts the work and will call me to let me know once he finds out. Sure enough I received a call with a thorough explanation of what needed to be replaced. John said that I would get my car before 430p. Chris had called me to let me know when my car was done (at 430ish) and made me feel like I was taken cared of! My dashboard notifications were showing that my tires were deflated. I went in and the shop let me know that actually my tires were down to their last legs. They quoted me a fair price (I did a bit of internet research), and they replaced all four tires in the same day. I would go to these guys again! Horrible, horrible service. They were nice when I dropped my car off told me it would take 2-3 hours. Called them 4 hours later was told someone would call me in 30 mins no call. I called 2 hours later and was told that it would be ready at 4:30 and they closed at 5 so i better be there at 4:30. My appt was at 9am. When I get my car someone's lunch was in my seat. Napkins, chip bag, crumbs! Do not go to this place. Might I suggest honesty with your customers. If the car needed special fluid then the multiple times I called, it would have been helpful if I was informed instead of told it would be ready in 30 mins. It is hard to believe that his lunch fell out of his pocket and was placed inside a cup holder and napkins on the passenger seat. read more

This place is very reasonable, at least compared to going to your local car dealer for work. They guarantee the work they do and workmanship is always great (local VW dealer commented to me on how nice a job they did to replace a muffler and shocked at how inexpensive it was) The people who work there are completely polite, efficient and friendly. So long as you are sane, can communicate in proper English and detail your problems effectively, you won't get a run around. I've been there 3x now for 3 different problems and they have always come through in a timely manner. I'm shocked by the person who went in for a tire change and who wrote such a scathing remark about not having their tires repaired/replaced within an hour. My car was having problems starting but they tried and tried to replicate the problem but couldn't. My car was there for about 24 hours and they kept trying. I appreciate them trying consistently. They did charge me for half hour of labor but I felt that it was fair. I wish they would have found something because I am not fully convinced that there is nothing wrong BUT I appreciate them being honest about not being able to find anything. I trust them with my car and they give me the right suggestions for my car maintenance needs. Chris and his dad. Christine and Rich. They all help the community with everyone's car issues and daily maintenance and they will not beat around the bush. "They keep it real" (as the kids call it now a days). You can tell that everyone who comes in for service are regulars including me. I like that when you don't have a ride. I realized when I got to my car, that my driver's side back tire was rather flat. I called another shop and and I wouldn't be able to get the tire until the next day. I called this shop and they were very helpful. I was able to get right in, they had the tire I needed, and it was changed. I was in and out in 45 minutes. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I have used Sanford Firestone ever since I got a geriatric Jeep 10 years ago that I needed to get up and running. They are dependable, accurate, and won't inflate prices...they give you options of premium, standard and bargain parts when available, and with my Jeep they also gave me a list of need-to-dos and things that can wait. My Jeep has since moved on but my wife and I still go here for all of our automotive stuff. They are a mechanic you can trust, which in my book is huge. read more
