Best place to go if you don't eat red meat. Their portion of chicken is huge, you will not go hungry eating here!

This place has been around forever and is really needing to be remodeled badly. That being said, I can't find a better Pastitsio anywhere.

Three and a half stars. The food is tasty for such a run down looking place. I love the mushroom Swiss burger. Wings are good if you order in. Not so great for takeout. I don't go as often as I'd like because my wife thinks it's too unattractive inside. read more

First time going to this place and the service was exceptional! Everyone is very friendly which makes you feel welcomed to be in this place. I tried the Greek salad and it was awesome. I also tried their gyros and that was very good as well! They make their gyro meat from scratch :) can't wait to go back and try some more food :) read more

Family favorite! Love the pasticcio & spinach pie. Wings are different but good, we get them plain & breaded with sauce on the side. The gyro pita & platter are both great as well. read more

Nice variety of items on their menu to choose from. I enjoy trying something new each time I go. So far there hasn't been anything I haven't enjoyed at Sandy's. I also enjoy it's convenient location, easy access, & large parking area. read more

The gyros are great! My boyfriend gets the hamburgers and he loves them. I even got my best friend addicted to this place. She got the chicken philly and loved it. The food portions are good and very filling. :) read more

I love, Sandy's, the food there is so good. I have a cousin that is Greek and also a good friend, His name is Nick forget his last name. There hamburgers are so big, and there chicken, and fries are yummy too. Hope, that restaraunt, never goes away. read more

Best Reuben I ever ate, they just need to have them everyday instead of on occasion. 5 stars for the Reuben. read more

I love this place! The food is great, the beer is cold, and the servers are friendly. I highly recommend Sandy's for lunch or dinner.

Tasty and inexpensive! We ordered one souvlaki platter ($10) and one gyro platter ($10). They both had one pita bread, a very nice size Greek salad, crinkle-cut fries, the BEST Tzaziki sauce I have ever had, and a generous portion of meat. We did take-out so I can't say anything about service and the only reason I've taken away one star is that I would love to have more options like moussaka (my favorite), avgolemono, and kataifi (favorite Greek dessert). read more

Sandy's is amazing! Homemade soups are tasty, especially the manhattan chowder. Souvlaki, Pastichio, Tzatziki sauce all have a handmade Greek Authenticity. Salads are fresh and presented well. Everything is flavorful, keeps you coming back for more. Sandy's a bit dead-pan, kind of reminds me of Seinfeld's soup nazi, but a casual place that puts out great food! read more

sandy's was the best place i have ever eaten. i simply could not be more delighted with the food. just thinking about the gyro platter brings a tear to my eye, and water droplets to my mouth (aka makes my mouth water). i would choose to eat at sandy's if i had but one last meal on this earth. i would most certainly eat here again, particularly if i were say... hungry like the wolf;) god bless. read more

Hi as one of the Managers and Family members here at Sandy's I would like to thank all of our customers for your great reviews and for the not such great reviews as for those they helps us to improve our business, the one thing that I would like to put out there is the fact that anyone can write really terrible things trying to ruin your good reputation which was recently put on here from a friend ( Andrew Arrington) of a former employee that was recently let go, this is very childish of them so i would like to comment on a more mature level, Sandy's has been in business for 15 yrs that has to say something for the way we do business and for the wonderful food and service that we put out there every single day, most of our employees have been with us for long periods of time, Sandy the owner is from Greece and sometimes hard to understand so he comes across as a little gruff but he is not rude he has a heart of gold and enjoys his customers, so please excuse the immaturity of others that feel it necessary to post evil things that are certainly untrue and almost laughable especially the part about Sandy cursing at his customers and demanding they pay for the meal before they get it, Wow really, any way Thank you again for being loyal customers of Sandy's, we look forward to seeing you again!!! I have been to Sandy's on several occasions n the last 6 months as it is a local small business in my neighborhood and while the food is good (the reason for the 2 stars), the service is almost non-existent even when it isn't busy. Today is the first time I have ever not left a tip and I normally tip 20% or more. But after not receiving my complete order, the waitress never came back to the table, and not being able to get her attention while holding up our empty glasses with the other waitress facing us and making eye contact several times without responding or telling our waitress we needed her, I was done and I got up and went to pay. I requested for the part of the meal that wasn't served to be deducted from the bill which it was taken off. Even though I told her we did not want the food, she insisted we take it with us. I tried to discuss with the 2 waitresses that this is not the first time but is an ongoing problem, the response was "oh well I said I was sorry." The apology was accepted I informed the girl since but the issue has been consistently ongoing for a while who would be the appropriate person to discuss it with, was told you are looking at them. I told her I didn't think I would be coming back. As I was leaving the establishment, I dropped the bag with the items in it on a table near the door and told them to keep their food (it did not spill or make any kind of mess). A minute later the waitress who just stood by and watched us when we kept trying to get the attention of our waitress followed out behind us yelling at us about how rude we were and we were not to come back because we were not welcome. I wasn't counting on coming back because if today or any of the other times in the last 6 months were examples of being welcome there, goodness gracious knows what it would be to go there if not welcome. I have always believed in supporting our local small business owners, but it is no loss for me to take my business elsewhere. It's a pity because the cooks are doing a great job but are the ones losing out because of the actions or should I say non-actions of their waitresses. read more

I love this place. Sandy's Place is where I go that they know me and make me feel like family. The food is great and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Yes, I am a regular and there is a reason for that. I don't return where I don't feel that my patronage is welcome. I would recommend this restaurant highly. read more

We love Sandy's a family gem. Nothing fancy but the food consistent and always yummy. This is just a simple local spot where you can feel at home and think your mom did the cooking. read more

The food is great and the service is friendly. I have tried Greek, Italian, burgers, and more there and almost all of it is good. I also enjoy the live music on Friday's. It would be good if there were some appetizer specials, but the prices are reasonable and the food is magnificent. read more

used to eat there. service always great. food not. last time wife's and my food was dry. commented courteously. reply was "you're the 1st. to complain about that". Terrific! I don't need that information; but the place needed mine. owner at cash register NEVER says "thank you", and NEVER smiles. Phooey. There are many other similarly mediocre restaurants that are more appreciative. read more

I saw a review on here so I have to defend it just because it's not true. I've been a waitress there for 3 years now and not once have I ever been to jail. I'm personal with all of our customers (hence why we have regulars) and we all are hard dedicated workers. This was my first job when I moved to Gainesville from Ga, and they've all welcomed me with open arms. Sandy's Greek personality is what gives our place it's unique character. He can be a hard to understand sometimes but he has never cussed at our customers or demanded that they pay before eating their meal. And you can say what you want, you're entitled to your own opinion, but he's helped some of our best staff up off the street and on they're feet. He gave them a job when nobody else would. And they're all doing great. I'm so blessed to be working with such a great staff. It's a family own restaurant so you know what they say "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all." They've been like family to me. Not to mention, they food is great. And if there was honestly roaches crawling every where there's no way we'd keep the doors open. I personality eat the food there, and if our cooks didn't wear glove and/or "coughed on the food" there's no way I'd even continue working there as long as I have. That's disgusting, and if I wouldn't eat it, there's no way I'd serve it. Everyone I've served ALWAYS told me everything was great and they'll see us next time. We enjoy our customers and have a good time. On that note, I hope everyone has a blessed day and come check us out! We serve Greek and American food. His wings are the best! I like mine un-breaded cooked a little crispy with the mild on and dipped in his homemade blue cheese. Although he's know for his Greek food and in that case try the chicken souvlaki. You won't be disappointed :) read more
