Great service and dinner experience here. Didn't have reservations on a Saturday evening but was seated fairly quickly. My bf and I shared the Salento combination and it was definitely enough for two and we had leftovers! The chimichurri sauce and habanero sauce was very good and paired well with the meat. Went to this Salento's for a date night. The inside was so clean and I loved the little nostalgia points by the hostess table like the rotary phone and phonograph. The wait staff was amazing. Smiles all around, gave great suggestions for drinks and food and we're so prompt to take care of things. Now for the food, we split the dinner for 2 and it was soooo much, it was a great sampling of their meats. The thinly cut steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection with some salt and pepper. It melts in your mouth, I ribs were super tender and the chicken was delicious as it was butterflied and seasoned so well. The chicharon could have used a little more seasoning but I added some salt and it was on point. We ordered rice and beans and I they were some of the most flavorful beans I've had. Inside was very calming lots of people but not overly loud where you can't hear the person next to you like other places. We sat at the bar because he wasn't able to get a reservation. No biggie the bar was fine. Dishes were big portions, quality & taste on point! Prices were stellar! We both ordered the same thing it had chicharron, chorizo, carne asada meat was cooked perfectly, so much flavor 10/10. Priced at $27 which was nuts for all the food. That price will keep me coming back. I have gone to other spots that offer a similar dish both places serve way less and price the dish anywhere from $30-$50. So Salentos was a winner!! It came with white rice, beans, sweet plantain, fried egg, corn cake. We got drinks I ordered a joy guanabana 10/10 I also got a guanabana juice to-go no sugar it was wonderful. Desserts are served in a small mason jar that you get to keep. That was cool, but they were small and overly priced. I ordered the Maracuya & my brother got the Coconut. His tasted like white cake and coconut. Mine tasted like cheesecake. I like neither so desserts I'll give them a 3/10. Service 10/10 it was a but delayed but great service. Wow!! This place is freaking delicious! It was my dad's birthday and he wanted to try something new and luckily it was close to where we live. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and atmosphere with a large bar area. The appetizer of beef empanadas was yummmm! The texture of the outside of empanada was so crisp, I loved it! I ordered the Salento combination plate for one person and was blown away with the amount of food. The flavors were so good. My family all told me to give this place 5 stars for my Yelp review lol Our server Michelle was so sweet and helpful she explained everything to us and had some great recommendations for our meals. I've heard a lot about Salento and their Mandarin location. I was excited to see a location in SilverLeaf had opened as it's much closer to my home. I was a little concerned that the suburban version would miss the mark, but being I have nothing to compare it to, here is my two cents. Interior is well decorated. We chose to sit outside. Ambiance was nice. Service was prompt and very good. Leo was our server and very likable and helpful. My mother had the filet cooked medium rare and it is served with their whipped yellow potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and not overly seasoned. We enjoyed having complimentary sides of chimichurri and their spicy habanero sauce. I opted for their Bandeja paisa, which is a traditional working man's meal in Colombia. The chicharron was cooked beautifully. The sausage was so flavorful. The rice and beans were absolutely seasoned to perfection. Absolutely loved this meal. Overall, I'll be coming back. They've got a nice long bar as well. It was a great experience for us! We had never tried Colombian Restaurant before - located in St. Augustine, this is our first visit and the waitstaff was super helpful. We went on a Black Friday, not as many customers when we dined in. The waitstaff explained everything on the menu from the appetizer, main menu, to the dipping sauce to pair up with certain dishes. We ordered e for Two - basically everything they have 85-90% are served onto this dish. There were sausages, pork rinds, ribs, flat steak, grilled chicken, and 3 side dishes- yellow potatoes, corn cake, and vegetables kebabs. We got chimichurro, and sweet n spicy sauce - perfect for the meat and pork rinds. They also have kids meal options and we selected fries and sausages. Like its other location, this Salento has excellent food. I'm delighted to have a second location (and this one a touch closer). When we first went they were still working some kinks out but the key things are all there. It's a beautiful interior with a lively (sometimes loud) atmosphere. We need to figure out quieter times and target those, especially given they can have a pretty lengthy wait on the weekends. Servers are kind and the food is delicious. Especially recommend the bandeja paisa or any of the mixed frills. Get a maracuja (passionfruit) smoothie with milk, too, and always get the rice and beans - so good. read more

Came here to celebrate roughly $260K dollars worth of promotions and job changes...why not splurge a little? Order the tomahawk MEDIUM for $150 dollars. What was dropped of was a beautifully seared BLUE steak. Half cut down the middle, the steak was sent back to the grill as I decided we would simply switch to filets as twice cooked half cut $150 dollar steaks aren't quite celebration worthy. I was than introduced to a "manager" who brought my recooked steak back held above her head as she repeatedly suggested the idea of "dropping the steak off as she talked to the owner about a minor discount". Call it an unpopular opinion, but 10% off a half ruined $150 dollar steak isn't what I consider a nice night out. Safe to say I paid for my appetizer and walked out as I was pleasantly told by the "manager" that they "won't hold me hostage if we do not want to stay." Highly recommend avoiding this establishment based off my experience, although plenty of people have seemed to enjoy their 110 degree "medium" steaks. Happy celebration to us! :) read more

I was so excited to see their new location and it did not disappoint! It's definitely a newer and nicer interior than their first location. Plenty of parking outside since it's in a plaza. We were seated right away and made our usual order. I got my favorite Grilled Chicken Breast with an additional grilled onions, as always they were cooked to perfection and very tasty. My husband ordered the Salento Combination, which consists of Carne Asada, Ribs, Chicken, and Chorizo, his personal choice every time we dine at Salento's. So bad news first. While they are not crazy busy on Sunday night, beware as they close at 8pm and close the bar before that. Given we had a 7pm reservation it really put a damper on our night out with friends. Second the service was a tad spotty. Waited spilled drink on table putting it down and it took 2 requests to get some paper napkins and same issue with to go boxes. Otherwise the food was very good. We shared the Bandeja Paisa and lamb chops. Lamb chop portion very generous - 4 doubles butterflied with 3 sides. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare- maybe a tad over but delicious. We had plantains (yum), veggie skewer (skip) and baby yellow potatoes (good). Other entrees - chorizo very nice, skirt steak tender and well cooked, pork rind tasty. Red beans and rice very good. I ate here a few weeks back and I loved this location. The best trait I took away is the incredible service. Our server checked on us multiple times through out the evening and gave delightful menu suggestions and a little bit of history about how Salento came about. We ordered the fried yellow potato's, a sweet plantain with a side of guava, a 12oz rib eye cooked medium, a 16oz rib eye cooked medium rare; one beer and one glass of red wine. There was no wine menu available so the server gave a couple of great suggestions verbally. I went with a popular red she said most customers seem to enjoy and it was very delicious and smooth. I'd say the only downfall to this method of ordering is you do not know how much the glass of wine is, but I knew I'd only be ordering one since I drove from Jax to this new location in St Augustine. It was a pricier glass of red (close to $20) than I would normally order, didn't know that until the bill came but again, totally okay because it was very good. I would order the same glass of red all over again. The sweet plantain was so good it didn't even need the side of guava but since it was an option on the menu, I felt the need to order it. I did notice this location is quite loud acoustically. We dined late so most of the restaurant was actually empty on a Friday night, but with how the acoustics are in the restaurant, it's very hard to have a conversation with the party at your booth. Our rib eye's came out either too done/slightly overcooked, and the other a smidge too rare, but the flavor of the rib eye was out of this world. Neither of us complained nor wanted too because the steak was so delicious. You could taste that slight butter and salt it was seared in among other flavors - chefs kiss. We were thanked upon leaving by other employees working, who also striked up a small convo with us asking us where we are from - Finishing the evening with more great service. This restaurant is beautiful inside and out. They do have a patio but it was quite warm out the night we visited, so we sat at a booth inside. The bar is also a great choice to dine because it is big and open - very inviting. I am looking forward to coming back to this particular location. 100% worth the drive to St John's county. read more

I recently went with my monthly dinner club with a part of 14. Overall this is a nice restaurant and you will have adequate service, selection/choices and food at this price point. In my opinion, I believe it is notably overpriced and not quite as good of a value as similar steak houses in the same price range. That being said, they do have unique sides and apps that set them apart and my entire party was happy with how their steaks/burgers were prepared and overall quality of the food as well as the ambiance (can get a bit loud when full). Staffing seemed a bit light for a complete full house and they don't hesitate to include 18% tip on parties of 5 or more. I recently went to try out this place after months of hearing good things about them. So last week, I took the family for an experience since my mother in law was visiting from NYC. I must say I was pretty impressed by the decor, the staff, and the amazing ambiance. Their menu was also to my liking, as you can tell, they put the extra effort into making it look high-end. Our server was very good and very friendly. The food was delicious and drinks were a delight! The only negative thing out of everything was the surprise when we got the check. Aside from gratuity, we found an additional large group fee, which was tacked on to the cost. I don't know if this is common practice for a party of six? Made my first visit to this new Colombian steakhouse. Food was great; service needs improvement. Started with chicken and beef empanadas which were excellent. My wife and I shared a combo platter which included chicken, steak, four pork ribs, a two sausage and chicharrones. Included sides of fried yuca, plantanos maduros, and a chicken kabob. We had a 5:30 dinner reservation, and the restaurant filled up pretty quickly. Service was quick, friendly, and professional. The menu is huge, including about 20 pages. We opted for the skirt steak, flat steak, and Salento combination. The Salento combination included Carne asada, chicken, ribs, and chorizo. All three entrees also included three sides. Side options included rice, plantains, salad, vegetable kabob, and red beans. Everything we ate tasted great, and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more
