    Salento combination

Wow!! This place is freaking delicious! It was my dad's birthday and he wanted to try something new and luckily it was close to where we live. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and atmosphere with a large bar area. The appetizer of beef empanadas was yummmm! The texture of the outside of empanada was so crisp, I loved it! I ordered the Salento combination plate for one person and was blown away with the amount of food. The flavors were so good. My family all told me to give this place 5 stars for my Yelp review lol Our server Michelle was so sweet and helpful she explained everything to us and had some great recommendations for our meals. My dad left his birthday dinner happy and full. We will definitely be back soon!

This was our first visit. The restaurant was simple on the outside. Inside well decorated and the smell of food was amazing. Our server welcomed us and made several suggestions for both appetizers and the entrée. We shared a meat platter which was plenty! Ordered 2 bottles of wine which was also reasonable in cost. The meat was cooked a little more then medium rare which I preferred more rare then medium. Overall a great experience we will return.

It was a great experience for us! We had never tried Colombian Restaurant before - located in St. Augustine, this is our first visit and the waitstaff was super helpful. We went on a Black Friday, not as many customers when we dined in. The waitstaff explained everything on the menu from the appetizer, main menu, to the dipping sauce to pair up with certain dishes. We ordered e for Two - basically everything they have 85-90% are served onto this dish. There were sausages, pork rinds, ribs, flat steak, grilled chicken, and 3 side dishes- yellow potatoes, corn cake, and vegetables kebabs. We got chimichurro, and sweet n spicy sauce - perfect for the meat and pork rinds. They also have kids meal options and we selected fries and sausages. In the end, our bill was just around $60+ for that much of food that can feed at least 3 adults.

Salento Steakhouse -- A Hidden Gem of Colombian Warmth and Flavor By Peter & Susan Martin, The Culinary Duo "When a restaurant surprises you from the moment you step inside, you know you've stumbled upon something special." Tucked quietly into an unassuming strip mall in St. Augustine, Salento Steakhouse is one of those rare finds that redefines expectations. From the outside, it's easy to underestimate; but the moment we walked through the door, we were struck by the elegant décor, soft lighting, and a bar that would make any mixologist proud. The ambiance is upscale yet welcoming, with beautifully appointed seating and thoughtful details that transport guests far from its modest exterior. The décor carries the warm sophistication you'd expect from a fine Colombian steakhouse, where wood, texture, and light come together to create an atmosphere made for conversation. When it came time to explore the menu, we were immediately impressed. Presented in full color, with vivid photography and clean design, it's one of the most creative menus we've encountered. The wide range of offerings speaks to a culinary team that knows how to balance authenticity with artistry. We chose the Salento Special for Two. A generous spread that showcased the kitchen's talents. The platter arrived brimming with carne asada, chicken, ribs, chorizo, and pork rind. A feast designed for sharing. Each component was distinct yet harmonious. The carne asada was seasoned to perfection, tender and deeply flavorful. The chicken, while thinner than expected, was juicy and well-prepared. The ribs, with their subtle dry rub, became the star of the show; smoky, tender, and effortlessly falling off the bone. The chorizo sausage brought a burst of spice and richness, while the crispy pork rind added both visual flair and satisfying crunch. To complement the spread, we ordered shrimp in garlic sauce. Plump, buttery, and infused with bold flavor. The vegetable skewer, cooked just right, added balance and color to an already impressive table. The service matched the quality of the cuisine. From the warm greeting at the door to the attentive pacing of each course, every touch reflected care and pride. Our waiter was both personable and professional, anticipating our needs with ease. As for value, Salento confidently earns its place in the upscale dining category. Prices reflect the quality, yet portions are more than generous. The Salento Special for Two was enough to satisfy more than a couple, and when paired with the shrimp entrée, it felt like a full culinary journey across Colombia. Our overall experience was nothing short of delightful. Salento proves that great dining isn't about location or hype; it's about passion, precision, and hospitality. For those in search of an unforgettable date-night destination or a vibrant social dinner, this is it. "This is one of the best-kept secrets in the area," we agreed as we finished our meal. "The kind of place you tell your friends about but almost want to keep for yourself." The Culinary Duo Rating: 5 Star

    Dinner for 2!

Came to this new to me location and I have to say I loved it! it was a busy Saturday night but our large group was seated faster than our quoted time and that's always the best start to a dinner out! our dinner was so delicious our meat was cooked to perfection the beans however left a lot to be desired, the hot sauce helped "fix" them. They said it was a dinner for 2 but we had plenty of leftovers.

I was so excited to see their new location and it did not disappoint! It's definitely a newer and nicer interior than their first location. Plenty of parking outside since it's in a plaza. We were seated right away and made our usual order. I got my favorite Grilled Chicken Breast with an additional grilled onions, as always they were cooked to perfection and very tasty. My husband ordered the Salento Combination, which consists of Carne Asada, Ribs, Chicken, and Chorizo, his personal choice every time we dine at Salento's. This is much closer to where we live and will definitely become a regular spot for us when eating out.

Ambiance decor and staff all very friendly great looking and the food is as amazing and it looks!! Only thing I can say is they are a must try if you're in the area. Our server FIR was awesome in helping us decide what to get and FIR had an amazing smile and personality.

The staff was very helpful and helped us choose items from the menu. The inside was busy and we sat at a booth. We were glad we made reservations as without them a seat might have been a challenge. I ordered a papaya drink, very fresh, an appetizer of fried plantain with cheese and guava sauce, and a marina combination for the entree which came with a tilapia filet, 4 shrimp, salmon, and 2 vegetable skewers. The plantain with cheese and guava sauce was new and surprisingly tasty. That's a first for me and I'd definitely enjoy it again. The entree looked great and had minimal seasoning. I added the sauces to add flavor and heat. All in all, it was too much in one sitting so I took it home. I would recommend additional seasoning for the seafood & a lemon to squeeze over it and wake up the flavor.

It was a cold day and we were looking forward to some Colombian cuisine which was new to us. The place was easy to overlook as the signage didn't really stand out. And more construction is ongoing along Hwy 301 further obscuring visibility into this location. In any case, this is not a "sit down" restaurant as we had to place our order before sitting down. We previously checked out the menu online so we pretty much knew what we wanted to order. I ordered the Paisa Bowl ($17) and my wife tried their Steak and Papas bowl ($20). We also ordered French fries ($3.50) and a can of Coke Zero ($2.50). I thought service was a tad slow (there were maybe 5 tables occupied including us) but we were served our lunch soon enough. Our first impressions were good presentation but the portions were meager. The fried pork belly pieces were nice and crunchy but there weren't enough of them. The ground beef had good flavors and I liked the fried egg over the rice and beans. My wife liked the flavor of the beef, although a bit fatty for her taste, but found the potatoes a bit dry and wished they were French fries instead. Speaking of French fries, it was served with this savory dipping sauce but again, the serving portion was miserly. My wife thought the guacamole was nice and fresh, making it the best part of her meal. All in all, we came away liking the flavors but thinking the value and portions were lacking. Service was a bit detached as well. Lunch for 2 with tip came out to just over $51.
