I ordered online, never tasted any of the bakery and did not disappoint, I ordered the birthday chocolate cake, moist and delicious with selection of cupcakes which were also very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back with friends. Thank you

So the first time I came in to give them a try I got a cupcake and croissant warm, my wife got a fancy coffee and some egg thing. She was happy with her order other than the iced coffee came hot.. so not really what she ordered after the long wait we didn't want to wait any longer. My order on the other hand was quite a disappointment, to me a fresh croissant should be light flaky and fluffy hot. This one .. this one was more like it was made at a beef shop it was flatted out and soggy.. I think it was over cooked in the electro zapper.. aka the food killer microwave.. just what I wanted to over pay for some microwaved slab of dough..thanks.. Now.. let's get to the second chance before reviews.. Wife ordered an iced coffee, I ordered a few donut holes.. The vanilla glazed was a wreck, dried out, stale, hard.. this should have been tossed out.. Let's try the chocolate.. meh, almost dried as bad but the after taste was meh.. like cooking oil. My wife's coffee showed up hot.. after like 15 minutes wait.. overall this place is meh.. should have stuck with Starbucks or Dunkin even.. Cleanliness was also a question.. enjoy the pictures of the semi busy place with a long wait and dirty floors/tables/chairs.. wonder what the back of the house looks like..

Except when we got there we were confused - the only thing on that block was the old, closed Gladstone Bakery and nothing else that even resembled a business, much less a bakery. Figuring I got the address wrong, I started to head back to the car when a guy comes out of an old, beat-up, unmarked door. He sees us standing there and says "oh, you looking for Baking for the Taking? In here". Well, once inside it was a very clean, modern kitchen, but what the heck? Could we have a sign on the door - any sign - considering this was a rather sketchy looking building exterior? It was like being granted access to some kind of speakeasy...say the password and all that spy shit. Doesnt make sense! The cakes we tried were fantastic, and the girls working there were very nice. Unfortunately they turned out to be a high quote due to a lot of "upcharges"; for everything from changing the height of a tier to adding fruit. Plus the cake decorator had a very heavy hand - meaning, if you are looking for tiny, delicate decorations, dont come here, her style is better suited to big, chunky designs.

The birthday boy was big into cards s The owner of the bakery drove my cakes all the way out to Arlington Heights where my party was. One of the cakes was a lemon (yes, this birthday party had some seniors in attendance) and the other was a magnificent chocolate cake. That party was almost 2 years ago and I still get people asking me for baking for the takings number. If you want your guests to be raving how great the cake was, Baking for the Taking is the way to go!

Will it be good tomorrow? Will it be crusty? Should you even bother? Well, I'm here to tell you. Courage totally gets it. It passes the freshness test. We stopped in and ordered the classic Survivor cupcake to go. Wow, it's a cute little cupcake! How do they do that rainbow swirly thingy with the frosting? Anyways. Well for some odd reason life got in the way and I couldn't eat my cupcake until the next day. But that's okay! Because instead of landing in the moratorium, this cupcake had me on cloud nine. So thick and dense and cakey. And the frosting was yummy and flavorful. Wow..if it's this good a day old, I bet it's a twelve star same-day cupcake.

Fear no more Courage cupcakes are so delicious moist and reasonably priced. Plus some profits go to the cure for cancer. I was so happy I found the place open. They changed the hours so we barely made it today so it was well worth my trip, I tried four different flavors and I truly was happy with all of them. This is the very first time I had a red velvet that was so moist and the cream so soft and smooth is just melted in my mouth Yum. I had the maple bacon I removed the bacon but the maple flavor was so delicious. I also tried the chocolate banana cup cake it had a very delicious banana filling and the light chocolate cram top with dark drizzle of dark chocolate was like I was in heaven. They also honor the yelp special which is sweet because the proceeds go to the cure for cancer. I will definitely go back again. Oh yeah I forgot to mention they have food trucks in case you are in down town

As we walked in this place had a young boy and you girl working working the counter. Needless to say both were extremely inexperienced. Especially during the Christmas season and if they weren't they sure acted as if they were. I proceeded to order the remaining pies and when I asked if they could simply box 3 of the 10 pies up in a white box, the boy needed to seek "permission". When he came out he offered to charge extra. I replied "no problem, let's get them going". While he was in the middle of boxing them up another woman came in and ordered one of the pies. Rather than explain this to the young girl he stood there almost scared to say anything. We decided to watch this happen rather the interject since it was Christmas week. We honestly expected the staff member or boy to speak up and let the young girl know we had already ordered them. Well, he did not. And he then proceeded to tell us we were 2 pies short after waiting for 20 min with 4 customers within that time. We decided to just refuse the pies and thank him for the hospitality and left. Very disappointing and very disorganized. I absolutely recommend you avoid this bakery at all cost unless you want a single donut. Or until they decide to hire competent adult staff.
