They knowingly put my son in a BROKEN truck! In March 2018 I traded in our 2003 Silverado which my son had been driving Since his 16th birthday, and purchased a 2014 Silverado. The salesman "Terry" gave us the usual hype, " trucks like this don't last long on the lot, so you better move fast", "We just got this one in yesterday as a trade-in, with the Denali engine, and all the bells and whistle's someone will scoop this up fast ". My son fell in love with it(especially since our old Silverado didn't have A/C) and high school graduation was right around the corner. We drove it off the lot smiling and waving to Terry our salesman. Little did we know we were in a death trap! About a week before my son and daughter were due to drive out to Albuquerque to visit their grandmother, he mentioned that he heard a strange noise coming from the rear of the truck. We asked around and found a mechanic who took it for test drive with my son. After "Andy" the mechanic looked it over he said not only would he not drive that truck to New Mexico, he wouldn't even drive it to Pensacola. He threw out words like tie rods, radiator leak, etc.,roughly $5000 worth of repair work needed to be done! I told him that we had only had the truck for about 50 days, and he assured me that these things don't just happen overnight, and that Southern Chevrolet Must have been aware of these problems when they sold it to me. After I had what I like to call a "mommy meltdown"I called the dealership right away and asked to speak to the sales manager. Instead they put me in touch with the salesman Terry, who told me that I bought the truck "as is". When I asked if any problems were found by their mechanic, who I assumed had looked at the truck just as they always do on trade-ins Before they sell them, Terry informed me that their mechanic never looked at the truck, because "I" was in such a " hurry to get the truck" !!! Whaaaaat??? First of all, the only one who is in a "hurry" was the salesman! I had no idea that their mechanic had not assessed the truck. As a mother my frustration soon turn into outrage!!! How dare he accuse me of skipping the most important part of buying a used vehicle! I was certain that they knew to some extent that there were many things wrong with the truck when they sold it to me, made worse by the fact that they knew my 18-year-old son would be driving the truck!!! Finally , The usedcar manager would get involved, and After much back-and-forth, offered me a 2012 Sierra to replace the " broken"Silverado. They felt no shame in passing on over $4000 worth of Lost profit on to me by adding it into the financing of the Sierra. And of course I drove the Sierra over to my mechanic and hero "Andy, " to have it checked out first. I always thought that there were certain lines that even used car salesmen wouldn't cross,... But evidently I was very wrong. Shame on you Southern Chevrolet! read more
