Got a recommendation to visit this winery on the way back to Liberty Hills, TX. Glad we accepted the recommendation as this was a great family owned winery with many wines that is produced exclusively from grapes grown in the field in front of us as we drank the wine. We really enjoyed the Neighborly as it was one of the best offerings. The Grenache and Sangiovese were also very good and we bought all 3 of these wines. As you can see in the photographs this is great venue for just lounging in the sun or in the shady pavilion. If you have a large group and want a private tasting from the tree house, that would something very memorial. I recommend having reservations as there's not much space in the pavilion and the tree house would need to be reserved too. read more

I can finally check "visit a Texas vineyard" off of my adventure list! Only about an hour north of San Antonio, Sandy Road Vineyards is located out in the beautiful hills near Fredericksburg, which is home to the nation's second-largest wine country. Who knew?! We chose to do a wine flight along with a charcuterie board while we listened to the host tell us all of the great things about the vineyard. Once the tasting was over, we were able to take a walk through the vineyard and visit the treehouse, which offers a STUNNING rooftop view of the entire property. Overall, this place ended up being a great location for a double date outing and one that I would highly recommend. Things to Note: - The road to get the vineyard consists of gravel and dirt, including the parking lot, so you may want to leave the convertible at home. - The bathroom facilities are in an outhouse, but a VERY nice one, that consists of one large room. - This location is obviously outside, so if bugs are an issue for you, I would think about reconsidering. read more

Made our way out to Fredricksburg. Not going to lie. Thought I was going to someone's farmhouse as we pulled into this winery. We passed a couple of cows that weren't fenced in casually minding their own business and beautiful long horns (those were fenced in) Ordered wine tastings from here and had a lovely server. He gave us details on each of the wines. One that caught my eye was the one that had an almost orange ish tint. The tasting was so good. The standout for me was the Tempranillo. The vibe was so nice here, relaxing and they even have a treehouse area you can rent out if you have a larger party. Overall great place to visit and you must try the Tempranillo! read more

Very knowledgeable on wine - I learned details about variety of grapes, wine stoppers, methods of culturing, and most of all - the best wines for different environments! He really made our visit memorable and contributed much to the experience. We arrived a bit early to our reservation so we hung out at the Pavilion and met with Bryan! He was hospitable and told us the history behind the property and timeline of the vineyard. We purchased three bottles to take home (Albariño, Tempranillo, and Sangiovese), they were carefully packaged in a special cardboard box with a handle. Came here with a girlfriend in the fall and had an absolute amazing time. The two of us were the occupants at the time which we loved at the time, since we'd been on Main Street in fredricksburg all day and all the wine cellars were overcrowded. The vineyards were so beautiful and we even got a visit from the cutest guest (a cow). The wine was also very reasonably priced and I fell in love with the treehouse. Can't wait to visit again this summer with my girlfriend for her bachelorette weekend. read more

Sandy Road was a great final stop on our wine trip. We sat up in the treehouse with Andy serving us, and had the best time. We booked the 5pm tasting, and saw an amazing sunset in the peaceful Hill Country. Andy was very knowledgeable, and did a fantastic job with our big group of 10. The wines were all delicious...but everyone's favorite was the Marselan! Although the main tasting room is still being built, we loved the smaller feel, and the great wine. Great intimate experience. This was everyone's everyone's favorite winery of the day. I am giving it 5 stars because everyone liked the wines and the setting, but personally I was not a fan of the wine. I do not like that they don't distill their wines so there is a lot of sediment in the bottles. I am use to my Napa wines like Silverado and Miner and this just couldn't come close to comparing. Came here with a group of 6 friends and opted in for the treehouse tasting. The tasting was great, very informative, and loved the private elevated area. It's very shady which is great for warmer weather. We each walked away from the tasting purchasing at least one bottle each - so I highly recommend all the wines. We enjoyed our stop into Sandy Roads. It was on a whim so we called to make sure they could accommodate a drop in. They confirmed so we drove over. We love how it's set back off the road. It's very small but full of charm and personality. Only one lady was there to serve everyone which made us spend a lot of time waiting. To the point it felt excessive. But we understand it's a small space with an intimate vibe The most disappointing part was the wine. It was just okay. A few of them had a rough bite at the end leaving a bad aftertaste. I can't speak hugely to the wine because I was DD - but in terms of experience this place is perfect for a group! A rather off-the-beaten-path location means we probably wouldn't have discovered it of ourselves own accord - but some friends had been just before the lock down started and had raved about it. I'm glad they did - when we arrived they had set up our group of ten at a beautiful tasting table in a treehouse - great views + breeze + privacy + novelty. We loved it! First time visiting Sandy Road Vineyards this weekend. It was my first time ever visiting a vineyard so I was really looking forward to it. Debated giving 3 stars because I booked a reservation over a month ago for the Private Treehouse tasting but when I arrived, I was informed that my friend and I could not do the Treehouse tasting because of the cold weather. This would have been good to know prior to arrival instead of finding out the the moment we showed up. But I'm going to give them 4 stars because it seems I may have gotten a discount for not being able to fulfill my reservation (?) and Bryan was nice. I would recommend but definitely make sure you'll be able to do the Treehouse before arriving if you're going in cooler weather and possibly bring your own plastic ware as there wasn't any available when we went. But even if you don't book the Treehouse, the pavilion is nice. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this winery and the family that owns/operates it! Wine is spectacular, balanced, easy to drink with or without food. From the first time we tried their wines (at a local wine bar) we loved them! After our first visit to their property, we joined the wine club as Case Club Members after a tasting in the "Treehouse". The wine maker and his family really put their heart & soul into the wine, the vines, the venue and the overall experience of visiting their vineyard. It is a MUST TRY for anyone visiting the Texas Hill Country! They are off the beaten path, but it seems like those are the best places these days. read more

Tree-house wine tasting folks! That is what we got here and you can also. A small open patio space more so, built 20′ in the air around a large tree with stunning 360 views around you. On this occasion it was my and Natasha and Bryan our host. You could likely get a tasting for six up here at max plus a host but that smaller size makes for a intimate experience. Bryan is a wiz on all things wine making from Sandy Road as well as the area in general. A really chill guy that clearly loves his job and the work being done on the vineyard now and what's to come as well. It was here at this tasting Natasha and I both noticed an ironic theme of really good Roussane wine was becoming the norm. I actually have to suggest that the 2018 they have here be one you purchase and bring home, I did! Good As Gone is another I really enjoyed very much and feel many others will also. We found a new favorite winery in Sandy Road Vineyards. The experience was amazing and ALL the wines were fantastic. Bryan made the tasting experience very enjoyable. He walked with us down to the vineyard, told us all about the different vines, explained the process of growing them and answered all of our questions.
