It is absolutely beautiful out on the lake, and the views can't be beat. Here are some thoughts/recommendations for your visit: -The dock is NOT the place to fish with young children. It sways back and forth and kids are likely to fall in if they aren't watched carefully! Also be careful- there is lots of bird and deer poop on the dock! -It's hard to guess what might make the fish bite. Salmon eggs seemed to attract the most fish, but we still only caught one. We tried worms and fishing cheese as well. -The playground is really fun for kids, but the grassy area is filled with poop that make it hard to walk safely -The parking is so close to the lake, which was awesome!! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here, and would recommend a visit! It's not a terribly far drive from Boise, either.

It was sunny, warm and beautiful out today so I took it as a sign to take a bike ride along the river. I started my ride at the Marigold and Glenwood entrance. I made my way down the path. A lot of construction going on for the new park that is being built by the Fairgrounds. I look forward to checking it out when it's finally complete. The ride along the river was beautiful. The trail was easy to ride and had a lot of spots you can stop at to check out. Wildlife, plant life and of course the water. Every stretch of the river is so different. I did stop at a part of the river that looked like a lagoon. The trees covering the benched area. The sun shining through the branches. You get beautiful rays of sun peaking through. It was truly a magical area. Made my way further down by the white water rafting area. People everywhere on thier bikes or folks just walking. Everyone had the same idea about enjoying this beautiful weather today. We were all soaking up mother earth. I biked all the way down to Main and Chinden. I decided to flip around. I still had to ride my bike home and didn't want to overwhelm myself with a longer ride back to my house which was another mile from the Marigold entrance. If I would have had a partner with me or have driven to the river, I probably would have continued on. But, that's for another adventure! This stretch of the river was so pretty. I'm happy I got to check it out today. It's amazing how beautiful our little city is. I'm looking forward to checking out the other side of the river heading towards Eagle. I'm sure it's just a beautiful as what I experienced today.

I just love how everyone is doing their own thing, whether that's walking, strolling, biking, fishing, kayaking or even surfing! Yes that's right, there's a section where you can actually surf the stream.. how cool is that?! There a signs at the entrances that remind people not to be a "speed demon" and also signs warning about blind curves, which I very much appreciated. We rented those Lime electric scooters and were able to scoot nearly the entire path, which felt so epic and fun. Of course, we were mindful of pedestrians, bikes and foot traffic. One of my favorites parts of the path was when went past the Boise Zoo and saw not just one, but too giraffes poking their heads up at the trees. They were ginormous and even seems to acknowledge us with curious eyes and ears. What a special treat to have such an open, accessible and convenient public space right in the heart of a city!

The water was moving pretty good, if I had to guess somewhere around 1.75 to 2.5 mph, but I was still able to get a workout and my best Mile split time was returning in the current, I took a lot of pictures along the way. I paddle all over the country, and in many other countries, I like to record my Paddle, especially first time, and transfer it from my Garmin watch to the relive app. This app creates a video of the trail and any pictures taken along the way or Geos stamped on the trail while you watch the video. It's really amazing. This park was clean, self service for Park entry if the booth is closed. Nice restrooms. Apple parking and it was mowed later in the week so it really looked nice. Lots of ducks and geese so watch for poop bombs but not that bad. Overall a clean park. We noticed scuba divers, fishermen, magnet fishers, kayakers, and lots of paddle boards. The water is pretty clear and clean and is on the cooler side. There are rentals available if you want to pick up a paddle board or bring your own. On the hot summer weekends, get there before 11am because there is little to no parking after noon.

The event is right along the Boise Greenbelt, so you can stroll through all the incredible art vendors and then enjoy a walk around the large, beautiful park. Fun fact: Julia Davis Park is the oldest park in Boise, established in 1907, and it's still one of the city's most popular gathering spots. There were so many vendors with a big variety of artwork, with something for every taste. I even found the perfect gift for my step-dad-in-law: a mountains and sun piece made out of different kinds of rocks. If you're an art lover, this event is a must-go-to. Another bonus is how easy it is to explore the area. You can rent e-bikes and e-scooters nearby to cover more ground. And every time we go, we always stop to see the giraffes at Zoo Boise, which is right next to the park. It makes for a full day of art, nature, and fun. Great place for families and anyone who wants to soak in Boise's creative and community vibe!
