I love all of the employees there from Joe at the front desk he also works in the back and Sandy which is the owner and the dentist and all of her associates are absolutely great it's like real hometown doctor like they should be. If I have an issue or a question I called they call me right back or they just put me on hold and take me right to the doctor. They are amazing and just a wonderful group of people. My recent dental procedures at Isle Smiles have all been performed in a very friendly, professional and caring manner! From cleanings, fillings, crowns, braces to a root canal! They do it all! Dr Pape, her associates and her staff are truly caring professionals that guided me through each procedure. I would like to commend Sam for my recent cleaning, she is very thorough and efficient! Dr Ramjit performed my root canal and Dr Patterson did the crown! 5 stars! Joe did my whitening procedure, he is the best! Also, I had my teeth straightened by a team of orthodontists, Dr Lucas, Angie Menendez and Christina! This orthodontic team are true professionals and really cared about my individual results! It's like getting a new face! My overall experience with all of these procedures was a feeling of the passion that all of these professionals have for dentistry. My second visit was even better. I was greeted with warmth and familiarity. I went in for a whitening which was free with the package/insurance I bought. My teeth had a 2 stage lightening effect. The procedure is painless Bring an e book and headphones. For me it was relaxing. Would recommend this process. read more

This practice is a nightmare. If you can make it to a different dentist, even on the mainland, get in the car, take a Greyhound, and go. The billing is a joke and you must comb through each statement to address the discrepancies. The office is filled with nicknacks and dust collecting odds and ends, it is a filthy facility and not like any hygienic dentists office in the real world. But if kitsch is charming to you above service then enjoy this second rate gift shop. Moments added up over the years using this practice that were red flags and I should have not been so polite and perhaps found a different practice. But, this is an island community and clearly they would have your health and interest at heart... Which brings me to a teeth cleaning first thing in the morning. I was met with a dental assistant cursing and yelling at the staff, slamming things, and shouting at everyone. The partitioned wall between each patients room is clearly not permanent. On the other side was pounding and banging by workers as they fixed or did something on the other side. I commented to the staff how the pictures on the wall were literally bouncing. The dental assistant left the room to get tools ready for my cleaning. With a loud bang I felt cold and saw black. When I came to, I yelled in agony and asked what happened?! With ringing in my ears I realized I had been knocked unconscious and I instantly had a splitting headache and felt nauseous. The staff came rushing in. I thought the heavy metal arm with the light attached over the chair came loose and fell knocking me out. A staff member picked up a dust covered birdhouse built out of 2x4's, not plywood, from off the floor. Blood and my hair was caked on the corner and blood was running down my head. I was handed paper towels I kept bleeding through, whereupon I mentioned I needed to go to the ER. The pain was unbearable and I was bleeding so much. The staff convinced me it was a small cut and the head bleeds a lot. How no one there had the foresight to remove items from the high partitioned ledge is baffling. My critical thinking skills were compromised as I just experienced a concussion. They proceeded to work on my teeth for the next hour as I laid there holding a rag on my head, disoriented and with a splitting headache. It wasn't even 10am yet. After all this, I stood up as I was finished. Blood started pouring from my head, an hour or more later, and I felt faint and saw spots. Again I mentioned I needed to go to the ER. They wanted me out of the office ASAP. Knowing me for years, that I ride a moped, and that I just had a concussion, I was advised to ride home, take aspirin (which thins blood) and to take a nap! So essentially, they wanted no legal recourse and thought it best I thin the blood leaking from my head and go lay down. Great way to die. Thanks Sandy Pape and your remarkable medical knowledge. The very next morning I went to work, same job for 7 years on Duval, and my staff could tell I wasn't right. I felt completely off and a coworker who went to school for nursing said I have all the signs of a concussion. Called a friend to drive me to stock island to go the ER. The staff there cleaned my hair from the wound and said after treatment that I had a concussion. I would have needed 5-7 stitches but being the next day it was too risky for that so I had liquid stitches administered and had to treat the would so it would heal. 3.5 years later, I still have ongoing issues from this concussion. Sandy Pape refused to provide insurance information to my attorney. No ER bills were covered, nothing paid out. Isle Smile did send flowers to my house. The office is insured should accidents happen. But this wasn't even related to risks associated with treatment. I got a concussion due to their negligence and they feel flowers were appropriate. This experience says so much about the staff, their responsibility and advice. Without foresight, ownership, or humanistic tendencies, is this the place you can trust or spend money? Good luck. I decided to check out what this place has to offer and was pleasantly surprised the moment I walked in. Kay Wilson delivered all of the information I needed and was a treat to converse with. Having been a smoker for 17 years, I will likely have a cleaning + whitening done with Dr. Pape and her lovely associates. If I had children, this would be my go to dental office in the Keys. The dental plan Kay provided for me seemed especially supportive of family needs. read more

I am very happy that I chose Isle Smile for my dental care in Key West. Dr. Sandy Pape oversees and evaluates every patient. She sets the tone for the comfortable teamwork. I seldom end an appointment without getting a hug! I have had root canal and crown work done by Dr. Ravi Ramjit, who explained everything he was doing and why - very thorough. I also appreciated the way he spoke to his assistant; he was clear and considerate in explaining steps and requesting her assistance. Hygienists Cassandra and Dana advised me on preventive and maintenance steps to take. Isle Smile is not on my dental insurance network, but staffers Michelle and Joe have been super helpful in dealing with billing with my insurers. read more

I had a few pleasant experiences here for both myself and my child, but after I was told that I needed a gum graft for a tooth that was bothering me, they never scheduled the appointment for me to see the specialist, despite me following up several times over the course of 3 months. As annoying as this was, I'm giving them 1 star for telling me upfront that they took my insurance, then slapping me with an $800 bill a year after having multiple exams, cleanings, and (of course) extra recommended dental work. I feel completely disrespected, misled, and taken advantage of! Stay away, especially if you have military dental coverage!! read more

I have to say I had the worst tooth ache and needed a dentist so I just picked one from the list of providers on my insurance. Absolutely loved the office, totally island and sea themed. The staff was amazing. Took care of my needs. Dr. Pape was a fellow Texan gal like me, which is always a plus to find people from home. I had a dental emergency (broken crown) when I was vacationing in the Keys, I stopped in by chance at the office and they were able to see me immediately. I found Dr. Pape to be a fantastic dentist. She is truly a lovely person, and capable dental professional. If I lived in the Keys, she would certainly be my first choice as a dentist. Incompetent staff and scam artists. Told me of course they took my insurance then after performing lots of painful dental work I have never been told I needed before in my life (I religiously go every 6 months for cleanings and exams) I come to find out "yeah, they take my insurance but they're out of network" so I have to pay more. Which I do, in full before any procedure. I pay the amount they say I owe and insurance will cover the rest. Then they NEVER submit the bill to my insurance company, continually send me bills for the unpaid portion even though I told them I talked to my insurance and NOTHING from that service date was ever submitted. So I submit it myself, then get another bill from them that says "insurance paid balance is yours." I call the office to ask what I am paying if insurance finally paid after I submitted the bill MYSELF and they said, no since we're not a network provider insurance won't pay so that's your balance. No one really LIKES going to the dentist, but this has become painful on so many levels. Avoid at all costs. read more

I had such a bad experience getting my first crown here. I thought that crowns must normally be that painful and time consuming (over 3 hours of actual work), until I had one done somewhere else. Turns out they're NOT, unless you have inexperienced technicians working on you. While I waited to check out at the end of my appointment, Dr Pape and the tech that had worked on me were around a corner a few feet away whispering about my bill. Then the tech comes out and hands me a bill for over $9,000! They were trying to bill be for the next 6 or 7 crowns that I still needed. Now, I was under the impression that you don't have to pay for dental work until you come in and actually get the work done, but I guess they realized I probably wasn't coming back, so worth a try, right? Extremely unprofessional. On a side note, most of the staff was related to Dr Pape. I would recommend going ANYWHERE else. read more
