I had flooring installed by Jeff and his team a…read morefew months ago and discovered some pretty substantial issues that were clearly from installation. We called the company that makes the floor finish used and got some guidance from them- they told us Jeff used the wrong grit of sandpaper for finishing- we shared this email with Jeff. AND we kept the floor covered and protected since installation. The issues we found- such as uneven coverage with the finishing product- are impossible to have been caused by us. Called Jeff to discuss, he came by and acknowledged issues and told me to call him back to schedule a time for him to fix the discoloration and uneven finish. You can see spots in the floor where the finish coat was pooled, there are sun bleaching issues- all things that shouldn't be happening with a well finished wood floor. However, when I called to schedule a time for him to come by, he started blaming me for the issues he already acknowledged in person were odd and a potential issue with the product. Then he started ignoring my emails and not answering my questions (about cost, scheduling and how to proceed). Just now finally got him on the phone. I asked him why he had been ignoring my emails and he gave me some bogus answer about being in the woods for a week- we've been talking about this for over 6 weeks. He denied that too, telling me it hadn't been that long, even though emails are dated so nice try on that, Jeff. He backed pedaled completely on having seeing the issues in person and when I stated that I needed him to do something to fix the flooring- since it was a clear issue with installation- he told me I would have to pay for their mistakes and the only thing I can do now is get some mediation to work this out, and then childishly hung up on me. When was the last time someone actually hung up on you?? Here is the deal- I am a customer and I paid for a premium job. Forget the fact that Jeff and his team completely scuffed up and dented the walls (he come back to "patch" the drywall but did a shit job on that too)- and forget the fact that Jeff straight up agreed there were issues with the finish- this happened in person, guess I should have been recording because now he is lying about having said this. I have been communicative and clear this whole process and I am asking for something totally reasonable- that we work together to make sure I am satisfied with the finished product. Its beyond inappropriate to have a contractor ignore my emails and calls, lie to me about something he already agreed to, and then hang up on me when I pressed him for better customer service. I am done with passive aggressive man baby contractors, and as a female home owner it's ridiculous how often I find myself dealing with the lowest of the low in terms of respect and professionalism.

BUYER BEWARE! This company has the WORST customer service I have ever encountered. I purchased…read morecarpet for 2 bedrooms and rubber flooring for my exercise room in early July. Was given two different install dates for each floor type. First install was for the rubber floor which happened without issue. Stan was my installer and he was GREAT. If that was the only installation, my review would be five stars. Installation of the carpet was to happen on 7/28 between 8am - 9am. Received a call at 9am that the installers truck broke down and he'd be here at noon. Noon comes and go without anyone showing up OR an update. Called them around 1pm and they say they found an installer and he's on his way. A crew of two guys show up, do a walk of the rooms & inform us we need to remove everything out of the closet due to the built-in inside the closet. We were told by the estimator/owner when we got a quote we could leave everything on the top rod of the closet, hence why we didn't remove everything. My husband starts pulling everything out of the closet & asking the installer questions about the installation inside the closet. He was frustrated that the plan changed but he's moving clothes out. The installers walk out without a word and never return. We didn't know what was going on so we call the store & they didn't seem to know either. Find out later the installer was "offended" by my husband. For what? No one knows. At this point I am offended by the installers unprofessionalism and disrespect. My husband did not yell, curse, or do anything that should to walk off the job. Gilford's response is they were taking him to a "nice dinner" to talk to him and would work on getting an installer for the following day and they'd call us with an update. They didn't and we ended up having to call them, again. Fast forward to Tuesday. We called around 11am because no update. They tell us an installer will be out "between 12 and 1" after another job. That time comes and goes without an installer or update. Text them for an update: he's finishing up and he's coming today. At 4:00pm when no update or installer shows, I call the office to be met with more rudeness and unprofessionalism. Rob starts yelling, talking over me, told me he doesn't care AND hung up on me. Apparently he didn't like that I'm frustrated with their missed commitments, lack of communication and unprofessionalism. Told me I'm "flipping out". I don't know who wouldn't be frustrated with the situation. Rob doesn't know how to deal with customers or de-escalate situations and made it worse than it already was. Installers show up at 5pm and don't leave until after 10pm. Still have to put everything back and set up beds in order to sleep so we don't go to bed until nearly midnight and I have to work the next day. Why wasn't our installation prioritized for that day since it was missed on the promised day? Why were we put off until the LAST appointment instead of the first? Again, no customer service. I've waited 6 weeks since our installation before writing this review to see if they'd reach out and apologize for their screw up and Rob's disgusting response towards me. Nothing. Not an email or a phone call. When the 2nd set of installers heard the story, they apologized, which I appreciated, but felt it was the owners that should have been making the apology. It was the first time these installers worked for Gilford. Why do they recognize the behavior was unprofessional but not the owners? I have more floors to do but I'll be looking for a company that doesn't berate customers when they want an update on missed appointments. Rob made it clear when he said he "doesn't care". It shows and I'll be giving my money to a company that does care.

I told him what I was looking for and he was able to show me my options right away. Kurt, a lead installer, was able to come out to measure my space right away. He had a wonderful attitude despite sacrificing some of his own time to be there. I ended up having to go a different direction in my situation but I found it very noteworthy that Crown Carpet was willing to go above and beyond!! I will definitely keep them in mind in the future. Side note for those of us that are frugal: when comparing quotes some installers do not include things such as: pick up/delivery, baseboards & mouldings, etc.. (Crown has you covered)
