We used Rug Bug to Install our hardwood floors and molding Throughout our whole home besides bathrooms. Jason and his team did a beautiful Job, and they were a pleasure to work with. We had so many other contractors coming in and out of our home while the Rug Bug guys were working, and everyone always told us how great and hard working our floor guys were. In addition to just being a pleasure to work with, and doing great workmanship, they were right on schedule every day, and came in at their quote. They charged a flat fee for the flooring and a very reasonable hourly fee for the molding. We would definitely use Rug Bug again for future projects, and I would highly recommend them. Jason gave us a written estimate, which was very good for installed flooring, plus a sample of the flooring that we're interested in. We're going with their bid to have three rooms done in our house. Talking with both of them, it's clear that they really get it about sustainable, non-toxic flooring. It's a bonus that they're local, have been in business for decades, and are a family business. UPDATE: we had Rug Bug install cork flooring in three rooms of our house. They did everything that they said they would do when they said they would do it, they finished early, and Jason's attention to detail was spectacular. I don't know where all the 5 stars came from. Possibly friends of theirs. We are generous in giving the 2 stars. Everything was dandy when we were ordering the flooring. But we were eventually talked out of what we really wanted and have done more research and our conclusion is they try to sell a lot of just a few things. The installation process was bad. 1 day easy job turned into 4. The installer only came for 3 hour days and took a lot of breaks at that. Sorry, we will not recommend this company. The aftercare when the problems were pointed out was not satisfactory. And their response to this review regarding intolerance and racism is very odd. That is a very random comment. read more

My husband and I went to Rug Bug to purchase cork flooring for our partially finished basement. On our first trip to the store (when we were just doing research and pricing), we talked to Stephanie, the owner, who was happy to tell us all about her cork products, the prices, and everything else we wanted to know. After visiting some other flooring stores and checking out their cork selections, we quickly found out that Rug Bug had not only the friendliest service, but also the best prices by far. We installed the floor but found ourselves three planks short...on Sunday morning. We called the store expecting to have to order another box and wait 3 days for it to come in, but Stephanie said they happened to have three extra boards on hand that they could sell us. Things going through my head about the Rug Bug as I shopped around for floors: o Yes, the Rug Bug was in a convenient location and they seemed to have a nice selection. o Yes, they know just about everything there is to know about flooring, from wear and tear down to each company's ethics. o Yes, their prices are competitive. o Yes, being from Philly, I loved Jason's brutally honest attitude towards sales. He flat-out told me which products were crap compared to others when answering my specific questions... and which products gave more bang for your buck. That is a rare find in this industry. But really? Even considering the above, I'm usually a very cautious shopper and take forever to choose. However, every time I walked in with questions, I left thinking that if I hired Jason and his crew, I'd also be getting the added bonus of eye candy. It made it difficult to shop around, so I barely did. So, there you have it. Jason ultimately earned a 1500+ sq ft hardwood floor job by looking good in jeans. However! The reason I would RE-hire The Rug Bug if I ever needed more floors... The reason why I'd recommend them to my friend's lesbian grandma who would have zero interest in staring at a cute, young tattooed guy riding around in a smart car... So. Happy. And I'm not just saying how I feel about my new drop-dead gorgeous acacia wood floors. Those two little words also describe my attitude toward Rug Bug and Jason's work. All of it's a wow. When we bought our house this past spring, we'd been planning to use a floor guy recommended by our awesome realtor, but he turned out to be non-communicative and unhelpful. So we were kind of on the hunt for someone else, or at least for clearer ideas about what we wanted floor-wise, and stopped in at Rug Bug. Jason was so helpful on that initial visit, even though we'd said we weren't necessarily interested in using his install services and were just looking around to learn more. He gave us a clear and extensive education about our options, and as soon as I said the words "big dog" pointed us toward pre-distressed floors as a way to accommodate our lifestyle. So. Right. Furthermore, I've never loved the look of shiny new floors, so was quite pleased that my new ones wouldn't look 'new.' We scheduled the installation for a week that we'd be out of town on vacation (his suggestion for the ideal time to plan one!), so I can't speak to their daily routines in the house. However, I can say that our entire twenty-six hour drive home we anticipated the first sight of the new floors, and we weren't disappointed. They're lovely, dramatic, and beautifully installed. Aside from basic floor installation, I really appreciate the care Jason and his team took to get everything right. Our house is the typical old 1920s Portland Craftsman, which means there are no level floors and several weird things to accommodate. Jason anticipated every single one of the issues, discussed options in advance with me, and was able to make everything work in the moment whether that required building a custom shelf for a floor grate or working magic with a door frame. I realized in late October that I was likely to be moving into a house I had owned for years, but that had been a rental for the past 5. Previous tenants had left the place an utter disaster. The floor was fir and on its last legs. I told Jason the house was likely to be vacant for most of November and wondered if he and his crew could fit me in their schedule. They were already pretty much booked, but he agreed to eek me in between other jobs so that the floors could be finished before I moved into the house. He and his crew refloored my entire 1800 sq. ft. house with cork in the kitchen and strand woven engineered bamboo elsewhere. It looks so amazing. They had to rebuild the stair treads and there was a bunch of funky weird old house stuff like cutting doors to fit frames that had settled to look like a fun house. The crew took it in stride and Jason worked collaboratively with me at every step to make sure that every tiny detail (giving me time to paint the quarter round, finding flooring transition strips that fit my aesthetic sense and a bunch of other little things) was covered. If my requests were annoying then Jason had the good sense to pretend it was all in a day's work. Jason was also flexible with payment. And I am noticing that no one else is really mentioning this, but you can only have so many people rave about the flooring before you get it: yeah, yeah, yeah Jason and the crew are reliable and do good work. But they are also super sweet, adorable and impressed the hell of out a girlfriend of mine who remarked - after we stopped by to see how the floors were going - "So, what? You have some cute hipster boy band remodeling your house? Only in Portland." If Jason starts selling "The Men of Rug Bug" calendar I'll be the first to order 50 copies. Fantastic!!!! Superior customer service!!!! Highly Recommend!!!! I was in the market for new flooring and after reading lots of reviews I went to Rug Bug. Jason asked me lots of questions about my house, family makeup, any pets, my preferences for flooring and colors, etc. before recommending flooring. He was very knowledgeable and explained the pros and cons to each one that was in the range of what I was looking for. He was very good at explaining everything while also giving me time and space to come to a decision on my own. No pressure which I really appreciated as it was a hard decision for me. I ended up choosing a rich, medium brown finished woven strand bamboo. Jason came out the next day, a Sunday, to measure my house. I was putting bamboo in the whole house except the bathrooms and laundry room. He emailed me an estimate the following morning. I normally get three estimates for any work I have done, but based on the reviews and my experience thus far with Rug Bug I committed to them without getting any other estimates. They started the job three weeks later and showed up when they promised. The crew was great to work with - very pleasant and hard working. I was amazed at how much they got done in a day. They pulled up the old flooring, a medley of cork, carpet and laminate. They also removed all the old 70's style 1" trim that I hated for its lack of character. After laying all the new bamboo they installed new 4" baseboard that changed the whole feel of the house for the better. They also moved all my furniture and then put it all back in place when the job was done. The whole job took seven work days and I could not be happier with the final result. They just finished last night and the difference in my house is amazing. They removed all the debris and old materials plus they did a great job cleaning up after themselves. I can do my best to praise Jason and his team, but it wouldn't be enough. The team was friendly, easy to work with and to be honest, a pleasure to have around. I hired Jason, whom I really liked immediately, to take out the wall-to-wall carpet and replace it with Jatoba Brazilian cherry hardwood floor upstairs in my new home in Portland. They did such a exemplary job that I subsequently hired them to take out the hardwood floor in the downstairs and replace it with the same hardwood floor that they had installed upstairs. They also replaced the wood in the stairwell, which was not an easy task! I work in the field of visual communication and am extremely detail oriented. If I characterize any work as exemplary, I believe it is truly meticulously done! I am very happy with the results and am complimented the moment people enter my home. Jason and his subcontractors, lead by Josh, definitely stand by their work. We encountered some hiccups, so to speak, and they have fixed and redone whatever needed to be done without hesitation. Jason has personally extended himself on a number of occasions to ensure that I was happy with the results. I feel compelled to share that it wasn't always a smooth experience for me, and I did experience a handful of disappointments both the first and second times. We purchased a foreclosure that needed new flooring throughout the house and Jason and his team came through in a big way. We didn't expect to have floors in until late October or November, but Jason was able to get everything done from bidding the opportunity on a Saturday 45 minutes outside of Portland to completing the whole project finished in one month. The previous owners of the home hoarded cats. Lots and lots of cats that enjoyed marking every single room of the house, including the linen closet. Even after pulling out all of the old carpet, the house still reeked. Jason's team painted every square foot of the flooring with BIN primer, 8 gallons worth, and the smell disappeared. He was confident throughout, which certainly eased our minds, and he absolutely delivered on all of his promises. That is so rare these days. We moved into our home in 2014. The family room was a combination of cheap carpet and sheet vinyl. I remember the home inspector saying "I hope you're planning on replacing the carpet in a couple years." He wasn't kidding! Young kids and a dog really tore it up quick! We went to Rug Bug on the advice from a friend. The service was excellent and so was the price. I wanted to go with a laminate to replace the carpet and vinyl, but they suggested luxury vinyl tile which I've never seen before. It's perfect! We called the store on a thursday asking about some bamboo flooring. The manager quoted us some prices and suggested we check out the bigbox stores for their prices. Home depot and Lowes prices were slightly higher but didn't have the specific color we were after. Saturday we went into the store and looked at the product he had and bought 350sf on the spot. All I wanted was some inexpensive padding for an area rug... After being given the runaround from Marion's Carpet, where they offered about 5 different expensive options before getting to what I had asked for, I left denigrated and discouraged. As luck would have it, I called Rug Bug to get a second opinion. These guys are awesome! I called and explained that I wanted some padding for an area rug that wouldn't cost more than the rug itself. After listing my options, they suggested scrap pieces as the most cost effective way to get what I wanted. I stopped by to see what they had. The manager Jason, met me and took me to their inventory. Super helpful, and very friendly. I walked out of there with a piece of "soy" padding that is antimicrobial, hypoallergenic, water proofed, and wont break down like rebond padding. I feel terrible that it has taken me so long to write this review. We purchased our home 8 months ago and took on an ambitious kitchen remodel that has taken over our lives, lol. As a result, the move-in and flooring timelines were a mess. Jason was more than helpful in answering questions and providing guidance on the best flooring option for our lifestyle and pups. He came to the house and provided a free of charge estimate and honest feedback on how to proceed considering there were so many moving parts. Well 8 months have passed and we could not be more pleased with our flooring (Wellmade Engineered Bamboo) and our experience with Rug Bug Eco Flooring. In addition to having the best prices around, the floor has taken a beating, and shines despite the wear and tear of a 70 lb Pit Bull and 55 lb Lab. We were skeptical about how well the flooring would fare after a few months and expected scratches and marks, hoping they wouldn't be too noticeable. Fortunately we haven't found one. The flooring has lived up to Jason's thoughtful recommendation. What really put our experience over the top was the customer service and kindness Jason and his crew provided. Jason constantly impressed us with his responsiveness and willingness to work through both his and our busy schedules. We installed the floors ourselves, but were nervous considering we had no experience and were on a tight timeline. Once again, Jason was more than helpful and sent a crew to walk us through the first part of the installation. The "A-Team" spent a few hours working on the more technical part of the installation (hallway, doorways and getting into rooms), took the time to give a thorough tutorial and answer questions, all for a very reasonable price. I am confident those hours saved us days in addition to a lot of stress. When we found we did not have the tools to complete the installation, Jason did not hesitate in lending us a table saw at no extra charge. Did I mention he let us borrow his truck to pick up the flooring from the distributor when we were too impatient to wait for the flooring to be delivered to his store? I am absolutely thrilled with the job that Rug Bug Eco Flooring did! I had LVT installed in my living room and kitchen. I was originally thinking hardwoods would be the way to go as I have them in the rest of my house. Brady informed me that LVT would be durable and waterproof and look just like real wood. I am so glad I decided to go with the LVT, not only do they look phenomenal, they are super durable which is great since I have two dogs. We did comparison shopping before ending up at Eco Rug Bug. Our experience with Eco Rug Bug was wonderful from beginning to end. Jason took lots of time to inform us about our choices, to answer our questions and to help steer us to the right choice for us. I never post reviews but here I am, trying to tell you how impressed I was with Jason! I had my carpet installed by another company and I was not happy with the job. I called Jason, asking him to help me evaluate how the installation was done(via pictures). I was listened to, advised about how the problems can be fixed(in great detail) and at the end, he offered to help me fix the problem if the company I contracted with is not going to repair the wrong doing! Rug Bug installed an engineered bamboo floor in our living room and hallway back in June 2013. Work was done on time, at quoted price, and looked great. Jason was super helpful in working through various options and his crew was efficient and did an excellent job of clean up. In 2014, some time after installation, we noticed a few good sized gaps had developed in between several pieces of flooring. We called Jason, he came right out and inspected the situation.
