We used Rug Bug to Install our hardwood floors and molding Throughout our whole home besides bathrooms. Jason and his team did a beautiful Job, and they were a pleasure to work with. We had so many other contractors coming in and out of our home while the Rug Bug guys were working, and everyone always told us how great and hard working our floor guys were. In addition to just being a pleasure to work with, and doing great workmanship, they were right on schedule every day, and came in at their quote. They charged a flat fee for the flooring and a very reasonable hourly fee for the molding. We would definitely use Rug Bug again for future projects, and I would highly recommend them. They're fantastic, and I will post pictures of the floors as soon as the house is no longer a construction zone. read more

Rug Bug Eco Flooring - Our Woven Strand Bamboo Floors done by Jason at Rug Bug Eco. - Flooring Near Me

Our first visit on Saturday, we spent a good deal of time talking with Jason the manager and Stephanie the owner about flooring. They have an excellent selection and very good prices. Jason gave us a written estimate, which was very good for installed flooring, plus a sample of the flooring that we're interested in. We're going with their bid to have three rooms done in our house. Talking with both of them, it's clear that they really get it about sustainable, non-toxic flooring. It's a bonus that they're local, have been in business for decades, and are a family business. UPDATE: we had Rug Bug install cork flooring in three rooms of our house. They did everything that they said they would do when they said they would do it, they finished early, and Jason's attention to detail was spectacular. We're very very happy with our new cork floors, and very happy indeed with Jason and Rug Bug. Highly recommended! read more

I don't know where all the 5 stars came from. Possibly friends of theirs. We are generous in giving the 2 stars. Everything was dandy when we were ordering the flooring. But we were eventually talked out of what we really wanted and have done more research and our conclusion is they try to sell a lot of just a few things. The installation process was bad. 1 day easy job turned into 4. The installer only came for 3 hour days and took a lot of breaks at that. Sorry, we will not recommend this company. The aftercare when the problems were pointed out was not satisfactory. And their response to this review regarding intolerance and racism is very odd. That is a very random comment. read more

My husband and I went to Rug Bug to purchase cork flooring for our partially finished basement. On our first trip to the store (when we were just doing research and pricing), we talked to Stephanie, the owner, who was happy to tell us all about her cork products, the prices, and everything else we wanted to know. There was absolutely no pressure to buy at that time. After visiting some other flooring stores and checking out their cork selections, we quickly found out that Rug Bug had not only the friendliest service, but also the best prices by far. So we returned to purchase the flooring. Jason was just as friendly as his mom and was happy to answer all of our nervous-DIY'er questions! Our experience up until this point was fantastic and would definitely have earned them a 5-star review. But even after the purchase, Rug Bug went above and beyond for us. We installed the floor but found ourselves three planks short...on Sunday morning. We called the store expecting to have to order another box and wait 3 days for it to come in, but Stephanie said they happened to have three extra boards on hand that they could sell us. Thanks to Rug Bug, we were able to finish our project this weekend like we had hoped! I can't recommend this family-owned local business highly enough--they are spectacular and truly committed to their customers! We absolutely love our new cork floor and are looking for more flooring projects just so we can return to Rug Bug! read more

Things going through my head about the Rug Bug as I shopped around for floors: o Yes, the Rug Bug was in a convenient location and they seemed to have a nice selection. o Yes, they know just about everything there is to know about flooring, from wear and tear down to each company's ethics. o Yes, their prices are competitive. o Yes, being from Philly, I loved Jason's brutally honest attitude towards sales. He flat-out told me which products were crap compared to others when answering my specific questions... and which products gave more bang for your buck. That is a rare find in this industry. But really? Even considering the above, I'm usually a very cautious shopper and take forever to choose. However, every time I walked in with questions, I left thinking that if I hired Jason and his crew, I'd also be getting the added bonus of eye candy. It made it difficult to shop around, so I barely did. So, there you have it. Jason ultimately earned a 1500+ sq ft hardwood floor job by looking good in jeans. However! The reason I would RE-hire The Rug Bug if I ever needed more floors... The reason why I'd recommend them to my friend's lesbian grandma who would have zero interest in staring at a cute, young tattooed guy riding around in a smart car... THAT reason is because Jason's crew did a stellar job on my floors. High quality work. Everything as promised, and then some. I get a ton of compliments on how great they look, and I'm very happy with my choice in flooring which Jason (very patiently) helped me choose. Jason is very reachable, honest, and (really!) goes above and beyond in customer satisfaction. If you go through my Yelp reviews, you will see that I'm not easy to please, but I do stand by a 5 star recommendation here. With extra credit. read more

So. Happy. And I'm not just saying how I feel about my new drop-dead gorgeous acacia wood floors. Those two little words also describe my attitude toward Rug Bug and Jason's work. All of it's a wow. When we bought our house this past spring, we'd been planning to use a floor guy recommended by our awesome realtor, but he turned out to be non-communicative and unhelpful. So we were kind of on the hunt for someone else, or at least for clearer ideas about what we wanted floor-wise, and stopped in at Rug Bug. Jason was so helpful on that initial visit, even though we'd said we weren't necessarily interested in using his install services and were just looking around to learn more. He gave us a clear and extensive education about our options, and as soon as I said the words "big dog" pointed us toward pre-distressed floors as a way to accommodate our lifestyle. So. Right. Furthermore, I've never loved the look of shiny new floors, so was quite pleased that my new ones wouldn't look 'new.' We scheduled the installation for a week that we'd be out of town on vacation (his suggestion for the ideal time to plan one!), so I can't speak to their daily routines in the house. However, I can say that our entire twenty-six hour drive home we anticipated the first sight of the new floors, and we weren't disappointed. They're lovely, dramatic, and beautifully installed. Aside from basic floor installation, I really appreciate the care Jason and his team took to get everything right. Our house is the typical old 1920s Portland Craftsman, which means there are no level floors and several weird things to accommodate. Jason anticipated every single one of the issues, discussed options in advance with me, and was able to make everything work in the moment whether that required building a custom shelf for a floor grate or working magic with a door frame. Whenever we need new floors in the future, we'll be back to Rug Bug. So. Perfect. read more

I realized in late October that I was likely to be moving into a house I had owned for years, but that had been a rental for the past 5. Previous tenants had left the place an utter disaster. The floor was fir and on its last legs. I told Jason the house was likely to be vacant for most of November and wondered if he and his crew could fit me in their schedule. They were already pretty much booked, but he agreed to eek me in between other jobs so that the floors could be finished before I moved into the house. He and his crew refloored my entire 1800 sq. ft. house with cork in the kitchen and strand woven engineered bamboo elsewhere. It looks so amazing. They had to rebuild the stair treads and there was a bunch of funky weird old house stuff like cutting doors to fit frames that had settled to look like a fun house. The crew took it in stride and Jason worked collaboratively with me at every step to make sure that every tiny detail (giving me time to paint the quarter round, finding flooring transition strips that fit my aesthetic sense and a bunch of other little things) was covered. If my requests were annoying then Jason had the good sense to pretend it was all in a day's work. Jason was also flexible with payment. And I am noticing that no one else is really mentioning this, but you can only have so many people rave about the flooring before you get it: yeah, yeah, yeah Jason and the crew are reliable and do good work. But they are also super sweet, adorable and impressed the hell of out a girlfriend of mine who remarked - after we stopped by to see how the floors were going - "So, what? You have some cute hipster boy band remodeling your house? Only in Portland." If Jason starts selling "The Men of Rug Bug" calendar I'll be the first to order 50 copies. I bet it'll make an awesome stocking stuffer. read more

Fantastic!!!! Superior customer service!!!! Highly Recommend!!!! I was in the market for new flooring and after reading lots of reviews I went to Rug Bug. Jason asked me lots of questions about my house, family makeup, any pets, my preferences for flooring and colors, etc. before recommending flooring. He was very knowledgeable and explained the pros and cons to each one that was in the range of what I was looking for. He was very good at explaining everything while also giving me time and space to come to a decision on my own. No pressure which I really appreciated as it was a hard decision for me. I ended up choosing a rich, medium brown finished woven strand bamboo. Jason came out the next day, a Sunday, to measure my house. I was putting bamboo in the whole house except the bathrooms and laundry room. He emailed me an estimate the following morning. I normally get three estimates for any work I have done, but based on the reviews and my experience thus far with Rug Bug I committed to them without getting any other estimates. They started the job three weeks later and showed up when they promised. The crew was great to work with - very pleasant and hard working. I was amazed at how much they got done in a day. They pulled up the old flooring, a medley of cork, carpet and laminate. They also removed all the old 70's style 1" trim that I hated for its lack of character. After laying all the new bamboo they installed new 4" baseboard that changed the whole feel of the house for the better. They also moved all my furniture and then put it all back in place when the job was done. The whole job took seven work days and I could not be happier with the final result. They just finished last night and the difference in my house is amazing. They removed all the debris and old materials plus they did a great job cleaning up after themselves. I wish I could find more service providers like Rug Bug. They are a tough act to follow. I highly recommend them. read more

Oh my god!!!! I just called these guys because my cat peed on a section if carpet at the place I'm renting and the smell won't go away and I have been freaking out. I was really worried about the price of having a guy come out but Jason told me how to fix the problem myself so his guys didn't need to come out. That was amazing and so thoughtful. I will definitely use these guys in the future and recommend them. I guess all the reviews were right! read more

I can do my best to praise Jason and his team, but it wouldn't be enough. The team was friendly, easy to work with and to be honest, a pleasure to have around. Jason was informative, very knowledgeable and did a great job steering us towards options that best suited our needs and not his bottom line. I felt secure in every step of the process and after watching his team work, and seeing the final product, I am beyond pleased with the craftsmanship. They installed all new Acacia on the bottom floor of our home and even did the bathroom in vinyl that looks amazingly like marble. They had to adjust to several poor flooring layers from decades ago that we didn't even know existed, they had to replace subflooring in some places. They handled it all! If you are looking for multiple flooring options and a team that can handle curve balls and provide quality affordable choices depending on your needs and tastes, call them! read more

Could not have turned out better. Super Happy. I recently bought a house and it had some terrible stained carpet. A friend suggested Rug Bug. i was not sure exactly what i wanted but Jason made some helpful suggestions and got me lined up with some new carpet and cork for my new place. Two different crews came out to do the installs both were really efficient. The two older guys did a great job on the carpet really seemed experienced. The Cork installers were fast, helpful and cautious about making sure my cats didnt sneak out during the install. I have no issue with comfortably recommending them to friend and family. check out our bamboo styled cork read more

Wonderful business!!! Rug Bug's prices are competitive with the larger retailers in the area, plus they provide great service. Jason was kind enough to provide me with some needed information even though he knew I wasn't planning to make a purchase. Good service and good prices mean they will be my first stop when I am ready for new flooring. read more

I was referred to this company as well as others by a real estate acquaintance. The other positive Yelp reviews posted here prompted me to pick up the phone! I hired Jason, whom I really liked immediately, to take out the wall-to-wall carpet and replace it with Jatoba Brazilian cherry hardwood floor upstairs in my new home in Portland. They did such a exemplary job that I subsequently hired them to take out the hardwood floor in the downstairs and replace it with the same hardwood floor that they had installed upstairs. They also replaced the wood in the stairwell, which was not an easy task! I work in the field of visual communication and am extremely detail oriented. If I characterize any work as exemplary, I believe it is truly meticulously done! I am very happy with the results and am complimented the moment people enter my home. Jason and his subcontractors, lead by Josh, definitely stand by their work. We encountered some hiccups, so to speak, and they have fixed and redone whatever needed to be done without hesitation. Jason has personally extended himself on a number of occasions to ensure that I was happy with the results. I feel compelled to share that it wasn't always a smooth experience for me, and I did experience a handful of disappointments both the first and second times. The crew's daily and overall clean up, for example, is an area that didn't meet my expectations yet, the reason I have posted 5 stars nonetheless is because of Jason's deep commitment to customer satisfaction. He will ensure all is well no matter what. If I expressed any concerns, he would do all that he could to reverse my experience. Thank you so much, Jason, for your authetnic care, support, and communication! I apprecaite you. read more

I was referred to Jason at Rug Bug by a colleague of mine when I told him I needed to list a rental property that had been completely thrashed by a tenant (every surface of this home needed to be touched). Jason met me and my client at the house with samples and pricing information for what we needed. We needed new flooring throughout the entire home. We had checked with two other flooring companies, and Jason not only was the least expensive in his bid, he was extremely helpful and very easy to communicate with. The work was exceptional, completed on time, and on budget. I am really pleased to have met Jason and to have worked with him. I'm definitely adding Jason and Rug Bug to my "preferred vendors" list and look forward to working with him and his team again in the future. Relationships are key in Real Estate, and I now know that I can call Jason and fully trust his bid, his work ethic, and the quality of the job (both in materials used and work completed). If you need flooring, Jason is the guy to call. Hands down. read more

Jason and his staff are excellent from start to finish! They took the stress out of this process for me, were always prompt in answering questions and getting back to me. Even when I changed some things, they were able to adjust seamlessly and delivered flawless results. Very, very happy. Thank you so much, Jason & Rug Bug! read more

We purchased a foreclosure that needed new flooring throughout the house and Jason and his team came through in a big way. We didn't expect to have floors in until late October or November, but Jason was able to get everything done from bidding the opportunity on a Saturday 45 minutes outside of Portland to completing the whole project finished in one month. The previous owners of the home hoarded cats. Lots and lots of cats that enjoyed marking every single room of the house, including the linen closet. Even after pulling out all of the old carpet, the house still reeked. Jason's team painted every square foot of the flooring with BIN primer, 8 gallons worth, and the smell disappeared. He was confident throughout, which certainly eased our minds, and he absolutely delivered on all of his promises. That is so rare these days. Thank you so much Jason and to all of the guys at Rug Bug, you made our home livable! Oh, and the bamboo floors are absolutely gorgeous! read more

So happy with the work Rug Bug did installing cork floors in our living room! Brady did a great job of helping us decide what options best suited our home. He took a sincere interest in making sure that we felt good about our choice and that we were pleased with the final product. We were! They also had the best prices of any other business we could find. I cant say enough about how friendly, professional, and knowledgeable both Brady and Mike were while completing the install. The final product was magnificent and they are now our go to guys when it comes to all things floor. I highly encourage any and all to use Rug Bug Eco Flooring. Top Notch!!! read more

We called the store on a thursday asking about some bamboo flooring. The manager quoted us some prices and suggested we check out the bigbox stores for their prices. Home depot and Lowes prices were slightly higher but didn't have the specific color we were after. Saturday we went into the store and looked at the product he had and bought 350sf on the spot. Since we came from SW PDX, the store is a little out of the way, but glad we made the trip. I like the fact that Jason is the 3rd generation to run the store. read more

All I wanted was some inexpensive padding for an area rug... After being given the runaround from Marion's Carpet, where they offered about 5 different expensive options before getting to what I had asked for, I left denigrated and discouraged. As luck would have it, I called Rug Bug to get a second opinion. These guys are awesome! I called and explained that I wanted some padding for an area rug that wouldn't cost more than the rug itself. After listing my options, they suggested scrap pieces as the most cost effective way to get what I wanted. I stopped by to see what they had. The manager Jason, met me and took me to their inventory. Super helpful, and very friendly. I walked out of there with a piece of "soy" padding that is antimicrobial, hypoallergenic, water proofed, and wont break down like rebond padding. Basically I got the best thats out there, and he gave it to me for 20 bucks! I hope I have to carpet a house soon, cause I'm going to call you guys! Thanks Jason! read more

Disappointed- left two messages and never heard back- not a company I want to do business with.

We moved into our home in 2014. The family room was a combination of cheap carpet and sheet vinyl. I remember the home inspector saying "I hope you're planning on replacing the carpet in a couple years." He wasn't kidding! Young kids and a dog really tore it up quick! We went to Rug Bug on the advice from a friend. The service was excellent and so was the price. I wanted to go with a laminate to replace the carpet and vinyl, but they suggested luxury vinyl tile which I've never seen before. It's perfect! Looks great, feels awesome, and best of all it's waterproof which is nice with the dog and kids. Could not be any happier! Thank you so much! read more

Purchased cork and vinyl flooring for our daylight basement. Jason was very helpful and patient while we made our selections. Called Jason and left voicemail, just like the other 12-15 contractors I've reached out to over the past week. Except Jason was different - He immediately returned my call! This place is great. I was looking for new carpet, and of all the places I went into, they were the only ones who didn't treat me like I was crazy for being concerned about the toxic gasses carpet offputs. I feel terrible that it has taken me so long to write this review. We purchased our home 8 months ago and took on an ambitious kitchen remodel that has taken over our lives, lol. As a result, the move-in and flooring timelines were a mess. Jason was more than helpful in answering questions and providing guidance on the best flooring option for our lifestyle and pups. He came to the house and provided a free of charge estimate and honest feedback on how to proceed considering there were so many moving parts. Well 8 months have passed and we could not be more pleased with our flooring (Wellmade Engineered Bamboo) and our experience with Rug Bug Eco Flooring. In addition to having the best prices around, the floor has taken a beating, and shines despite the wear and tear of a 70 lb Pit Bull and 55 lb Lab. We were skeptical about how well the flooring would fare after a few months and expected scratches and marks, hoping they wouldn't be too noticeable. Fortunately we haven't found one. The flooring has lived up to Jason's thoughtful recommendation. What really put our experience over the top was the customer service and kindness Jason and his crew provided. Jason constantly impressed us with his responsiveness and willingness to work through both his and our busy schedules. We installed the floors ourselves, but were nervous considering we had no experience and were on a tight timeline. Once again, Jason was more than helpful and sent a crew to walk us through the first part of the installation. The "A-Team" spent a few hours working on the more technical part of the installation (hallway, doorways and getting into rooms), took the time to give a thorough tutorial and answer questions, all for a very reasonable price. I am confident those hours saved us days in addition to a lot of stress. When we found we did not have the tools to complete the installation, Jason did not hesitate in lending us a table saw at no extra charge. Did I mention he let us borrow his truck to pick up the flooring from the distributor when we were too impatient to wait for the flooring to be delivered to his store? I really cannot say enough about our fantastic experience with Jason and Rug Bug. There is no doubt that Rug Bug will be my first and only choice for future flooring needs. Thank you Jason!! read more

We did comparison shopping before ending up at Eco Rug Bug. Our experience with Eco Rug Bug was wonderful from beginning to end. Jason took lots of time to inform us about our choices, to answer our questions and to help steer us to the right choice for us. I felt he had a good sense of who we were and helped us to save a lot of money. When we did our final comparisons, Eco Rug Bug was markedly less expensive than the other vendors. We replaced carpeting in living and dining rooms and had a new cork floor installed. The installers were wonderful. They went the extra mile in every way, even helping us to get the water turned off to the refrigerator and getting the refrigerator moved. Jason checked in frequently during the whole process, making sure that we were happy with the results and we certainly are. We will recommend Rug Bug to anyone we know who is replacing flooring. They definitely stand out from the rest in terms of prices and service and a job well done! read more

I am absolutely thrilled with the job that Rug Bug Eco Flooring did! I had LVT installed in my living room and kitchen. I was originally thinking hardwoods would be the way to go as I have them in the rest of my house. Brady informed me that LVT would be durable and waterproof and look just like real wood. I am so glad I decided to go with the LVT, not only do they look phenomenal, they are super durable which is great since I have two dogs. Both Brady and Jason were great to work with and made the experience easy. I love to support local business and am thrilled at the competitive price and professionalism of Rug Bug. Rug Bug installed an engineered bamboo floor in our living room and hallway back in June 2013. Work was done on time, at quoted price, and looked great. Jason was super helpful in working through various options and his crew was efficient and did an excellent job of clean up. In 2014, some time after installation, we noticed a few good sized gaps had developed in between several pieces of flooring. We called Jason, he came right out and inspected the situation. Without hesitation Jason said it would be fixed under warranty, and that he'd send a crew out to fix. Crew came as promised, adjusted the flooring, replaced a few pieces, and made everything right. And they did it with a smile. Rug Bug understands customer service and they stand behind their products and installation workmanship. I can't say enough good about these guys. read more

We worked with Rug Bug to re-do all of the flooring in our house, including hardwood on the entire first floor and new carpet in the bedrooms upstairs...and we couldn't be happier. They were great at every step in the process, including unbiased guidance as we planned everything and selected products. Their price quote was very competitive and it ended up being a bargain considering the quality of the work. The installation team did beautiful work, especially given all the quirky little areas of our house where hardwood was tricky to install. And Rug Bug was incredibly flexible adapting to the schedules of other worker at our house (e.g. painters). I went to Rug Bug after reading Yelp reviews, and these folks don't lie. Jason was very knowledgeable and was no-pressure when chatting about different flooring options (I looked at several), and gave me quick quotes for several options, as well as a scrap sample of cork flooring. I decided to go with the cork and did a bit of research to try to find a cheaper option. I did some research to find the best deal on comparable products advertised by discount flooring sites, and I was really shocked to find that Rug Bug had the best deal, having my preconceived notions about boutique-y shops in Portland. I would highly recommend both Rug Bug and cork flooring. Cork flooring is really sweet, people. read more
