We ordered 2 appetizers: portobello mushrooms and corn dip. Both were great in their own way. (Honestly would like to try and duplicate the corn dip!) We ordered a variety of main dishes. I met some old grade school friends who suggested the Lakes Grill Restaurant just North of Silver Lake, Indiana. Their tenderloin sandwich was the special of the day and it was absolutely FANTASTIC! It was huge, tasted great and met all the Indiana standards for a fried pork tenderloin sandwich. It hung over the bun 3-4 inches on each side! Plus it came with your choice of side (I had fries) AND a delicious homemade chicken noodle soup. This is a great little restaurant out in the middle of Indiana cornfields. If you can get there, Go! I was surprised to see no review for this place on Yelp, so I thought I would add a review and a picture of my sandwich!

Tonight was "Cigar Night," which was obvious as soon as you opened the door. Fine with me, and I might have joined them if they took credit cards. I only had a modest amount of cash and I wanted to be sure I didn't overspend on a Macanudo or Cohiba, then have to raid the ATM to pay my dinner tab. Special of the evening was a Chicken Philly. Made to order, it was hot, fresh and HUGE. Which is not to say I didn't eat every bite because I did! Washed it back with a bottled beer (of which they have plenty). I believe I was the only non-local because everyone else was talking amongst each other. The owners/bartender/cook were very attentive and made me feel at home so I wouldn't let not being a local scare you away. The food and drink were excellent and reasonably priced. Chicken Philly and a beer, out less than $20 including tip. Check it out.

Walking into this building off Canal St. in Wabash, IN you would NEVER expect what you find. Everything from the seating to the tables and art on the walls to the drinks and food screams heart and soul. Julie seems to have poured every ounce of her being into this place and you feel the warmth and joy the moment you step through the doors. M and I went here last night and I want to go back to again tonight! We were lucky enough to sit next to the kitchen and speak with Julie throughout our evening. We started with drinks, I got a Ginger Citrus Mocktail and M got a Vodka Soda, the mocktail was AMAZING!!! Then we ordered the Bruschetta and the tomatoes were amazingly prepared and the balsamic glaze was the perfect pairing. I opted for the Grilled Mediterranean Chicken Skewers for my main course and the little pearls of quinoa and couscous were like little pillows on your tongue! The flavors all married so well together and the chicken and Tatziki were amazing! M got two orders of Roast Beef Sliders, and I now know why now, they were amazing, freshly toasted from the oven, and the perfect combination of sweet and savory! We ended the night with BOTH desserts and there was NOTHING left on the plate after I was done, we got the Brownie and the Butter Cake -- delicious!!! I encourage everyone to try this spot out, and if you do, make sure you have NO plans after because you will not want to leave! We can't wait to go back again!
