A bit unsanitary and noncompetitive prices…read more My dad and I came to check out US Foods CHEF'STORE to compare it to the other nearby bulk foods stores like Costco and Smart & Final. I was unimpressed by this one. As soon as you enter this store, you are met with a very unpleasant, almost rancid, smell. I couldn't quite place my finger on what the smell was, but it was definitely not something you want to smell when you enter a place that sells food. We checked out the produce and meat sections first. The fruits and vegetables seemed fresh. The meat section, however, was a bit concerning. All of the plastic bins where the large cuts of meat were stored were filled with meat juices. Although the refrigerated section was cold, I was still a little concerned about the sanitation. Unless you are truly buying in bulk for a restaurant or event setting, the prices are very comparable, if not more expensive, than other grocery stores like WinCo. The smaller bag of potatoes, for example, was significantly more expensive than the same size bag at Costco. The giant bag of potatoes though, was very cheap in comparison. They definitely have a great variety of items that your typical grocery won't carry though. A lot of the items are unique. The sheer amount of drink/cafe syrups was astounding. They have every single thing you may need for a restaurant from take-out containers to sauce and jelly packets. I am not familiar with the pricing of these items, but this seems like a convenient place to buy them.

I have to give this place a five star rating for the items they sell, the price they provide and…read morethe customer service. Though they are not as big as Costco or Sam's Club, they do have the items that hubby and I typically needs when we come by here. They have a huge selection of Torani syrup's, and a good selection of frozen items, such as goat and beef. Decent selection of produce and dairy products as well. Quality of service: A++ Quality of selections: A Price: very reasonable

I chose to shop at Costco Wholesale specifically because of their well-known satisfaction guarantee…read moreand return policy. Unfortunately, my experience at the new Riverbank warehouse completely contradicted what the company publicly promises. This was my first time ever returning jewelry -- a wedding ring -- and it was not a casual decision. Keeping the ring is emotionally difficult for personal reasons. Before coming in, I carefully reviewed Costco's return policy on their website and even printed it to ensure I was within their guidelines. I brought the ring in perfect condition, along with the original receipt and certification. Cesar, the employee who initially assisted me, was professional, compassionate, and began processing the return without issue. Based on the written policy and the interaction in store, there was no indication that my return was outside of guidelines. After I left, I received a call from the return manager, Cazandra, denying the return solely because "there was nothing wrong with the ring." That reasoning directly contradicts Costco's stated satisfaction guarantee. The policy does not state that an item must be defective to be returned -- it states that satisfaction is guaranteed. If a member is dissatisfied for any reason, the policy should apply consistently. Denying a return simply because the item is in perfect condition undermines the very wording of the guarantee. I was then required to return to the warehouse the next day to pick up the ring. When I brought a printed copy of the policy to discuss the inconsistency, I was met with resistance and an unprofessional attitude rather than a clear explanation of any written exception from Cazandra. The interaction lacked professionalism, empathy, and basic customer service. What was most concerning was that another return manager I spoke with did not understand why the return had been denied in the first place. That inconsistency suggests either a misunderstanding of company policy or selective enforcement. Costco's reputation is built on trust and standing behind its word. If policies are going to be applied differently than written, that should be clearly communicated to members. Otherwise, the satisfaction guarantee becomes misleading. This experience was disappointing, confusing, and completely avoidable. This would have been a 5 star experience if Sebastian and Cesar were the only ones assisting me through this process; unfortunately, Cazandra made it the worst experience I've ever had!

The entrance is off Pelandale Ave. They have a Costco gas station if you need that as well. I wanted to stop in cause I saw as I was browsing the internet, that Costco has changed up the bagel selection. They sell them in bags of 8 now, instead of requiring you like before to but two bags of six for a dozen bagels. The new price is basically $5.00 for 8, so I guess the price per bagel has gone up, but what hasn't. HERE IS THE BIG NEWS! THE BAGELS ARE NOW WATER BOILED! What that means is they're more like real bagels like you would find in an actual bagel shop, a more dense and chewy bagel, yeah like New York I guess, even though I've never been. The previous bagels were basically fluffy beard donuts! Costco ended their association with Einstein's bagels (the bread donut ones) and now makes their own using water boiling before baking. I tried them and, whoa, what a difference, it way better. Maybe not totally as good as an actual bagel shop, but way better than what they had before. I used to avoid Costco bagels, but not any more. Try them out!

Honestly, the entire experience felt like the employees were annoyed that customers were even there. I brought my daughter in to get her picture taken for her Costco card, and the woman helping us was rude and had an attitude from the beginning. She barely acknowledged us and didn't even have the courtesy to tell my daughter she was about to take her picture. She just held up the iPad and snapped it. No "Are you ready?" No smile. Nothing. If you're working directly with customers, basic communication and courtesy shouldn't be too much to ask. Then there's the ridiculously loud music blasting outside. It sounded more like we were walking into a club promotion than Costco. It was obnoxious and completely unnecessary. Checkout wasn't any better. The man checking us out seemed irritated, rushed us through the entire transaction, and came across as rude and disrespectful. At that point, it felt like a pattern rather than one employee having a bad day. Costco charges customers for a membership. The absolute bare minimum should be decent customer service. I don't expect employees to roll out a red carpet, but I do expect to be treated with basic respect and not made to feel like I'm inconveniencing someone by simply shopping there. Management seriously needs to address the attitude and customer service at this location. Being busy is not an excuse for being rude. Looks like I will be going to the Turlock location from now on.
