This was my first dental cleaning where I didn't walk away with bleeding gums (gross I know, I'm sorry), X-rays taken with out gagging or having that thing that they put into your mouth feel like it's cutting into you and a filling done where there was no pain from the drill. They kept checking to make sure I was feeling ok and wasn't feeling any pain, kept reassuring me that all was going well. From the reception desk to the back office, I give nothing but gold stars to this practice!!

The amount of times they called to reschedule me should have been my first indicator. First of all, the dentist is very blunt and not personable. For example, I explained to her I clench my jaw and wish to see a TMJ specialist because one of my teeth is impacted so much, it feels like I have a cavity, but there's no cavity. She says she can shave down my tooth. I said there has to be other options that aren't as invasive. All she says is "no" and that she believes my TMJ isn't bad enough but she'll refer me. I had a filling on a root canal they wanted to put a crown on, which I had heard from my prior dentist, so I accepted treatment. I wish I hadn't because the temporary tooth fell out 3 times in the span of 1.5 weeks. The first tooth fell out while I was eating eggs. The second temporary tooth lasted less than 4 hours. Again, it fell out while I was eating eggs. I asked for a different person to put in my temporary tooth, thinking that was the problem. No, someone else was at the dentist because their temp also fell out the day prior. The person that put my temp in put it in backwards and I had to be the one to tell them it was wrong. How could they not know? The third temp tooth fell out just 4 days prior to my permanent tooth being put in. Since I work two jobs, my schedule doesn't allow me to keep going back to get a temporary tooth put in every few days. Permanent tooth comes in... well it doesn't fit. They think it's because my gums grew over my tooth in the 4 days the temp wasn't there. So they cut my gums. Tooth still doesn't fit. They re-order a new tooth and say they'll priority ship it to arrive next week. It's next week- I call for an update. They say the permanent tooth won't be here until 2 weeks from now. So they lied to me and guess what? My temporary tooth fell out while I was eating a banana. I've not flossed around that temp tooth, have not eaten on that side, and have altered my diet over the last month to soft food only. Yet, the temp tooth still managed to fall out. 100% this is a dentist issue, not a patient issue. Please do not waste your time or money at this joke of a business.

I have always felt very comfortable going to see Dr. Townsend and his team, even with my now less then perfect teeth they always treat me and everyone else who comes through there doors with respect and a smile:-). Lately I've been having to have a lot of work done on my teeth to get them back into tip top shape from before I had Ulcerative Colitis and had to take long term steroids(which are well known to destroy your bones). I ended up having my colon removed thus taking care of my UC for now, but ended up with severe bone damage to my teeth and developing osteopenia. At first I was scared that I was going to wind up toothless at an early age and embarrassed to show Dr. Townsend the state of my mouth, but he quickly put my fears to rest and came up with a treatment plan that will soon have my teeth looking good as new:-). Up first was getting a new set of front veneers bc when I was 5 I had half of my front tooth knocked out by a basketball. I also come in for cleanings every couple months instead of the normal twice a year to ensure my gums stay healthy(yes Dr. Townsend always has me on happy gas when I come in for a cleaning or a procedure, I have sensitive teeth and it's the only way I'd probably show up), I've had some fillings done as well. I went in on Monday for a cracked tooth, and yesterday they had me in to see an oral surgeon to fix the issue! I can't wait till Dr. Townsend finishes putting my smile back to the way it was! The best part is you know that he is doing a great job bc he won't rush to try and get you in and out:-). If you are looking for a dentist, dental work, whitening or a brand new style I highly suggest that you give Dr. Townsend a call at Ponte Vedra Complete Dentistry!
