This Christmas Tree farm is off the beaten path but is well worth the drive. Off of the 215 Fwy take exit #22 Ramona Expy/Cajalico Expy head West approximately 5 miles to Wood Road go right heading North, entrance is about 300 feet on the left. There is plenty of dirt parking spaces and several handicap spaces right up front. We have come here for many years and it never disappoints! You'll be warmly welcomed at the entrance where you can register to be sent a discount and US mailed reminder for next year's tree. There is Christmas music playing as you go get your tree cart and saw. Yes, I said saw, you get to cut down your very own tree that you picked out. There are many trees of all sizes which have all been nicely manicured. The pine scent in the area is so wonderful especially when you cut yours down! We usually look for a 6-7 foot tree with a tapered design with a wide bottom to a narrow top and a straight trunk which is the look of most of the trees. Their trees vary in prices and I believe they run approximately $13 per foot. Before you head out to pick out your tree you can visit and take your photos with an awesome Santa, props of snowman and gingerbread men with a cutout space for your smiling face. Then you can mosey over to the vendors and dessert food trucks with yummy treats. The farm has free popcorn and coffee and you can purchase a hot chocolate with marshmallows on top! Now you are primed and ready to get your tree so you take your tree cart and saw and head out. Now if you are not able or interested in cutting your tree down there many helpers around that can do it for you. I enjoy watching my grandkids help us pick out that perfect tree and take turns sawing it down. We load the tree on our cart and head back to pay for our beautiful tree. For a small fee there is also tree shakers to get those dead pine needles out and netting to protect your tree on your trip home. If you'd like there are many helpers around to help load your tree up and secure it. Wooow! What a festive winter holiday place to come cut a fresh pine tree! This place is so lovely and fun! You can feel the Christmas vibes all around! Went on Sunday and it was pretty busy! Parking lot was full but a lot of people coming and going. If it's your first time as it was mine, there are people at the entrance you can let them know and they will helpfully obstruct of how the place works and where to go. There are wagons and saws you grab to go and cut your tree and carry on. There are price tags on the trees and you have the option of cutting or there are some already cut in buckets. Definitely check this place and come select your tree here. This place is very family oriented and they beat of all they have free jumpers for the kids, free popcorn, and coffee!!! If I could give this place, zero stars, I would. Initially we were recommended this place from a close friend. The experience of picking out the tree was lovely. The lady in the front who greeted us with long dark hair was absolutely lovely. She answered all of our questions with a smile on her face, the issue comes into place when we came to pick up the tree three days later after having it flocked. We were instructed to arrive before 5 PM ( I called ahead to alert them we were coming). Due to circumstances beyond our control, we arrived at 4:55 PM. My husband pulled the truck up in the back where the trees were being flocked and no one was there, so I walked to the front desk and waited in line politely and notified the older lady in the front that we were here to pick up our tree. She immediately rolled her eyes at me and yelled! Yes, I said, yelled at me and said " You should have been here earlier. You picked the wrong time to pick up a tree I only have one guy working it's going to be a while" I was horrified by her actions towards me. I have never been yelled at in a place of business ever! Especially being a customer. I have posted and notified all of my followers to never come here, the lack of customer service by that lady was atrocious, also, if you do not want people arriving close to five you should tell customers to arrive by at least 3 PM. The experience is unforgettable, specially for the little ones, and after 4 years going here, I never had anything to complain about, until this year!! Its only been two weeks since we bought out tree, and it's dry,brown and slumping to the side, kind of looks like it's rotting Inside the trunk (AND YES, I GAVE IT WATER AS SOON AS WE PUT IT UP) So I'm not upset of what's happening to the tree, I'm upset that I called to asked if they knew why this was happening, and if there was other customers with the same issue. Ummm it was cold water. She said haaa that's the problem, it should've been hot water. Never ever in my 30 years have I heard of putting HOT water on a Christmas tree. Last year we found this place and stopped by at night to try it out. What a great experience. Why buy a tree at a big store for $45 when you can cut a fresh one down for $55. You can see it upright and in full form. This year I planned and brought my own saw. Last year I used their saw and it was an exhausting 25 minutes of sawing. This time we went early while it was still day light. We had much more time and ease in picking a nice tree. It's a fantastic experience for anybody, couples or family. The kids just love it! We have been going to Sand Haven Pines since 2013 and this year will definitely be our last. They only had about 1/4 of the lot open this year and it was picked pretty clean, with only small shrubs that looked like they were cast outs. There were some really nice trees on the other parts of the property, but they were fenced off and we weren't allowed to access them. There was also another area with better trees, but you apparently needed to reserve them somehow. We wound up walking away empty handed. I actually Yelped another Christmas tree farm while we were there and decided to head over to The Wickerd Farm in Menifee. It was only 20 minutes away and had a better selection and more friendly workers (nobody at Sand Haven Pines even talked to us). I'm sad to write this review because I used to spend at least an hour at Sand Haven roaming their farm to find an awesome tree, but I guess those times have gone. read more

We have bought all of our Christmas trees from Sand Haven Pines (SHP) for at least the last 20 years. We have consistently been pleased. But this review is for our most recent experience 12/7/2018) ... and it was bad. Very Bad. Really BAD. I am giving (literally GIVING) it a 2 star just out of courtesy for the many years we have loved it. I think most people know that 2018 has been a tough year for fresh-cut trees. The lady at SHP told us that the lack of water seriously hurt their trees. But if that is so, why didn't they water them? Dripper lines abound there. The second thing is that the selection was next to nil. She told us that since Christmas trees were so scarce, people from as far south as San Diego had come and them, along with many others, pre-reserved just about every tree in the 8-9 foot size that was any good. Talk about Slim Pickens! We finally SETTLED on a tree that made Charlie Brown's look like the Taj Mahal. As we examined it more closely when we got home, it had 2 major twists in its trunk and a hole the size of a small beach ball on one side. And it was very dry. That said, anyone who has bought live-cut trees knows that just about every one of them has a side (about 1/4 the diameter of it) that is less than perfect ... but perfect for the side of the tree that will be against a wall. I'm glad we have a large wall .... We never bag our tree but always have it shaken. All sorts of dead needles are normal and the shaking process saves me a lot of time cleaning it up before taking the tree inside the house. But the non-English speaking gorilla that did it also broke a bunch of the few good branches our tree had. Word to the wise: HOVER OVER THEM and TELL them how to do it. I guarantee you know better than the ONLY 2 idiots SHP had to "assist" the day we were there. And make sure they cut the tree as close to the ground as possible. This leaves you more trunk to be able to cut off just before you put the tree in your home stand. The price ... the most I ever paid for a tree there ... about $85. Outlandish given the low quality, low service, and wait time we had to get it. My recommendation: If you are just now looking to go to SHP ... don't. Not this year. I'm sorry Sand Haven Pines, I really have loved your trees for at least 2 decades. But this year (December 2018) ... I suggest that nobody goes there. read more

Besides the fact, this place has trees that look like the only care they had was being planted. a three foot ugly mess was 52 dollars not including all the fees for wrapping and now 3 bucks to shake your tree of all the unkempt pine needles and crap from not being taken care of that you charge . We went to this tree farm for years and now we are DONE. save your money and go get a Noble Fur at lowes 6ft for 60 bucks that actually looks nice. Not like a weed growing on the side of your house! First year will be our last. Final Bow goodbye. We spent the day picking out a tree with our kids. Sure it is 2x times the cost of Costco/home depot trees, but we pay for the experience right? We are a new customer and unaware of the "reservation" area, so we are cast off into the general population section. We spent almost 2 hours walking back and forth making our selection. Eventually we find "the tree" to spent 7 seconds cutting it down Then we cart it off to the front and then load into the car. By late Saturday afternoon we are all setup and leveled then decorate on Sunday. By Tuesday (3 days !!!) the tree is starting the fold in half!! Bummer. The trunk is literally just giving up and starting to taco. I made a call and was able to speak to a staff member who said that it was "unfortunate" we got a tree that did that and maybe next year we can make a "reservation" for a higher quality tree. They unfortunately do not offer discounts, refunds or even an apology! So be very weary! The solution was the tilt the tree stand to off set the bend. OR to use fishing line and attach the tree the wall or our ceiling! LOL. Although that is indeed somewhat practical this is hilarious on a $70 + accessories tree that is 3 DAYS out of the ground. It is literally bowing down almost 90 degrees. Super disappointed in both the tree and the fact that I was literally told I am out of luck. That's not customer service. The premise for my visit wasn't exactly to purchase a tree, but to use the space available for a mini photo shoot. We came around noon on Saturday, and it wasn't super busy. There's ample parking, but I image it'll get busier closer to Christmas. There are bounce houses for the kids, a small snack shack, and Christmas tchotchkes to purchase. The trees themselves range in size and price, but overall they looked fairly healthy. Medium sized trees appeared to be around $90. You can pretty much roam everywhere, but beware the reserved section: no saws allowed. We spent about an hour on property and we enjoyed watching other families cut down their own trees. We researched places to go and pick out a nice tree. I haven't been able to cut my own tree in forever! We got there and the place was bustling with all kinds of activity. The lady at the gate was pretty friendly. Told us about coupons etc. We asked if they had Nobles. She said no. So we said Douglas Firs. Nope. The trees they had were "Pine Trees". The biggest thing she had to say about their trees was that they "smell nice". From a distance the trees looked well shaped and full. Upon closer look we found that the branches were kind of flimsy and wouldn't be able to hold any of our heavy ornaments. We climbed to the too of a hill. Saw alot of trees. None that would work for us. We went down the hill and the kids got into the Jumper. Those things never disappoint. The kids had a blast. They saw Santa too. A very interesting Santa to say the least. We ate homemade burritos & tacos very good. There were some booths with handmade ornaments etc. We left and went elsewhere for a tree.
