My family started visiting Live Oak a year ago. We had a fun time doing the photo ops and looking…read morearound at various things that we went again this year. Some highlights when considering both visits: * Photo Ops - So many throughout the pumpkin patch, formally and informally. There are obvious spots like the lit up pumpkin houses and stops throughout the garden area, but then there are just lots of flowers, pumpkins and different places to get a nice photo of your family or kids. * Activities - There are a lot of carnival style rides and freebies like the corn box, shows, and places to climb and to look at things. For little toddlers, it can still be a fun trip. For older kids, the key thing is to go on weekdays when you pay $49 for wristbands that give you unlimited rides. I would recommend that wristband option if you or your kids want to take full advantage on savings for rides; ours aren't quite of that age yet. * Parking - Parking is free on weekdays and overflow parking isn't too bad. We can roughly two hours after the place opened and overflow parking just started. You drive a little past the main parking area to a dirt plot that's been coned with people guiding you where to park. Towards the front of overflow parking, there will be outhouses for restrooms (convenient!) and wash stations with foot pump-powered water, along with soap and paper towels. Tractor-pulled trams will take you down the street towards the entrance which is just about a 3-5 minute away. Our kids like the tram ride so it was nice. Just be ready to fold your stroller or wagon to hitch up on the tram. The key thing is to pay attention to weekday specials and prioritize going on a weekday for the best deals. We did a train ride last year and got the BOGO free ticket this year. It's still worth the trip just for photos with our littles who had fun playing and looking at various things at the pumpkin patch.

If admission were free, I might say this place is worth checking out. However, after paying $90 for…read morea family of five + $20 for parking, I expected a little more. The biggest issue is that almost everything inside costs extra. The activities advertised as "free" were underwhelming, and while the photo opportunities were cute, they definitely weren't worth driving an hour and a half. We visited on a rainy day, and although they disclose beforehand that they do not offer refunds if they decide to close due to weather. They closed the hayride that is available before 6 p.m. Most of the fun activities advertised on their social media require additional payment. For example, $40 gets you only 45 tickets loaded onto a card, while most rides cost 6-7 tickets. Even the corn maze costs 8 tickets, and the haunted maze/hayride costs 20 tickets, which is excessive considering the price of admission. Overall, I left feeling disappointed. Between the admission fee, the additional costs for nearly every activity, and the long drive, the experience simply wasn't worth it for our family. I would recommend looking into the additional costs beforehand so you know what to expect or a different pumpkin patch honestly. I will not return. THEY ALSO DELETE COMMENTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

There is plenty of dirt parking spaces and several handicap spaces right up front. We have come here for many years and it never disappoints! You'll be warmly welcomed at the entrance where you can register to be sent a discount and US mailed reminder for next year's tree. There is Christmas music playing as you go get your tree cart and saw. Yes, I said saw, you get to cut down your very own tree that you picked out. There are many trees of all sizes which have all been nicely manicured. The pine scent in the area is so wonderful especially when you cut yours down! We usually look for a 6-7 foot tree with a tapered design with a wide bottom to a narrow top and a straight trunk which is the look of most of the trees. Their trees vary in prices and I believe they run approximately $13 per foot. Before you head out to pick out your tree you can visit and take your photos with an awesome Santa, props of snowman and gingerbread men with a cutout space for your smiling face. Then you can mosey over to the vendors and dessert food trucks with yummy treats. The farm has free popcorn and coffee and you can purchase a hot chocolate with marshmallows on top! Now you are primed and ready to get your tree so you take your tree cart and saw and head out. Now if you are not able or interested in cutting your tree down there many helpers around that can do it for you. I enjoy watching my grandkids help us pick out that perfect tree and take turns sawing it down. We load the tree on our cart and head back to pay for our beautiful tree. For a small fee there is also tree shakers to get those dead pine needles out and netting to protect your tree on your trip home. If you'd like there are many helpers around to help load your tree up and secure it. If you're interested in a happy place to bring your family and start an annual tradition Sand Haven Pines is the perfect place.

This spring I struggled to find a landscaper that provided quality products and services that were…read morereasonably priced. I sought out recommendations from family, friends, Yelp and Facebook groups. I even joined a FB Horticulture group. My success was lackluster at best. Contractors I talked to were either overpriced or appeared to not be interested in taking on the challenge. By July, my wife suggested asking our local nursery to see if they had any recommendations since they were in the industry. Who knew?! As I spoke the the owner of Serrano Nursery in Reche Canyon he told me they could help! Mr. Serrano said "no problem" and quickly came by and gave me a quote the same day. The job required ground leveling, drainage piping, side yard concrete and sod. His quote was extremely reasonable and he was able to start right up. His team came by and I have to say we're very hard workers, very respectful and every time I asked for and unexpected need, Mr. Serrano always replied, "no problem"! The ground was leveled and drainage completed. The day concrete was to be done, the cement truck came that morning and then left. Wasn't sure why. They showed up again at noon and the concrete was poured. Well, the next day at 6:30am while on my morning commute to work, I get a call from Mr. Serrano. He asked if I saw the concrete and I said yes. It appeared fine to me. He said, I don't like it, I want to take it out and pour it again! My first thought was this is going to mess up my side yard bad. Then I thought, what integrity! Most other contractors would have just let it go and let you find puddling the next rainfall after summer was over. In addition the reason he sent the truck away was because he promised me 3,000psi concrete to me and they brought 2,500psi. Because they didn't show up again until the heat of the day with temps now in to the mid to high 90's, his people were fighting against time with cement drying quickly. So, at no additional cost to me, he removed and replaced the concrete and it was perfect! That experience really said a lot about Mr. Serrano's business ethic. We are very, very pleased with the outcome and have come to know Mr. Serrano and his wife better We now purchase many of our plants from their nursery. We could not have had a more positive experience! I will always go to Serrano's for additional landscaping work and have no problem recommending them to others. Thank you so much for the excellent service, professional integrity and for hiring a hard working respectful team! I can't wait for our next project!

I do like the selection they have here, but it's pretty expensive when compared to other nursery's…read more The parking lot is small and at one point we couldn't exit the lot due to a truck being loaded.
