This spring I struggled to find a landscaper that provided quality products and services that were reasonably priced. I sought out recommendations from family, friends, Yelp and Facebook groups. I even joined a FB Horticulture group. My success was lackluster at best. Contractors I talked to were either overpriced or appeared to not be interested in taking on the challenge. By July, my wife suggested asking our local nursery to see if they had any recommendations since they were in the industry. Who knew?! As I spoke the the owner of Serrano Nursery in Reche Canyon he told me they could help! Mr. Serrano said "no problem" and quickly came by and gave me a quote the same day. The job required ground leveling, drainage piping, side yard concrete and sod. His quote was extremely reasonable and he was able to start right up. His team came by and I have to say we're very hard workers, very respectful and every time I asked for and unexpected need, Mr. Serrano always replied, "no problem"! The ground was leveled and drainage completed. The day concrete was to be done, the cement truck came that morning and then left. Wasn't sure why. They showed up again at noon and the concrete was poured. Well, the next day at 6:30am while on my morning commute to work, I get a call from Mr. Serrano. He asked if I saw the concrete and I said yes. It appeared fine to me. He said, I don't like it, I want to take it out and pour it again! My first thought was this is going to mess up my side yard bad. Then I thought, what integrity! Most other contractors would have just let it go and let you find puddling the next rainfall after summer was over. In addition the reason he sent the truck away was because he promised me 3,000psi concrete to me and they brought 2,500psi. Because they didn't show up again until the heat of the day with temps now in to the mid to high 90's, his people were fighting against time with cement drying quickly. So, at no additional cost to me, he removed and replaced the concrete and it was perfect! That experience really said a lot about Mr. Serrano's business ethic. We are very, very pleased with the outcome and have come to know Mr. Serrano and his wife better We now purchase many of our plants from their nursery. We could not have had a more positive experience! I will always go to Serrano's for additional landscaping work and have no problem recommending them to others. Thank you so much for the excellent service, professional integrity and for hiring a hard working respectful team! I can't wait for our next project!

Staff was very helpful and really good selection. They had a tree I had been looking for and the price was very reasonable for the quality

Very friendly and helpful staff, and a good selection of plants that do well in our hot IE climate.

Anyone know if they sell yucca rostrata, or have a large selection in drought tolerant / xeriscape?

WARNING: Poor quality and ongoing issues:…read more We hired this company in November for a full landscape project that included a waterfall feature, pond, irrigation, hardscape, uplights/lighting, 40 trees and 40 misc plants. MORE THAN SEVEN MONTHS LATER the work is still not complete and the issues continue. The waterfall has leaked from the beginning, the pond still loses water, and the irrigation system is unreliable. Multiple trees, shrubs, and plants are dying, including dozens of recently installed evergreens that are not growing as promised. Continuous hand watering and constant upkeep required to try and save the yard because of the issues left unresolved or quality of the initial installs. Many of these plants do not appear well-suited for the climate. Even with a mild winter, they required tying for support, and many are now sagging, leaning, or failing to establish. This reflects a lack of understanding about what actually works in this environment. Irrigation pipes have leaked underground for months, contributing to irrigation failures and extremely high water bills. Despite our repeated efforts to get this resolved, the problems persist. The third pipe busted today. There are concerns of what we can't see with water underneath the house. The project was not delivered as it was sold to us, leaving us with sacrifices, unexpected expenses, and constant disruption. We have given up much of our winter, spring, and now the start of summer just trying to fix, babysit, or mitigate further damage to the property. One major issue was a mudslide caused by their failure to remove excess dirt after digging out the pond. The mud filled the waterfall and basin, requiring a major cleanup that we had to handle ourselves before they eventually came to clear it. To date, there is still an issue with mud leeching into the waterfall when irrigating. Our concerns and suggestions were repeatedly ignored until the exact problems we warned about happened. Communication has been difficult due to language barriers, and we have experienced evasive or misleading behavior from both sales and ownership. Several requests to speak with the owners have never been acknowledged. There is a clear lack of expertise in water feature design, irrigation planning, plant selection, and working with the local environment. Pricing is extremely high for the quality delivered. Most disappointing of all, we had planned a wedding on the property and had to cancel the entire event because the landscape was not finished (could not be completed with the problems or not presentable. Despite every effort to work with them in good faith, we are still without resolution and continue to uncover new problems. WE CANNOT USE ANY OF THE FEATURES INSTALLED AS OF THIS DATE (ongoing and will be updated) Note: Photos included are limited and do not show the full scope of the project or all issues encountered. Many images have been withheld to protect the privacy of those involved or neighbors.
