While running errands in Rio Rancho, we came across Sanchez Tacos food truck and decided to give it a try! We were so satisfied! Everything was so fresh and worth every cent. The cilantro was vibrant green, onions fresh and crunchy, tortillas were soft and didn't fall apart, all of the protein was seasoned and cooked to perfection, the pinto beans were delicious. Even the two sauces had just the right amount of flavor and heat. It's been a while since we've had food this fresh and tasty. The gentleman helping us was very polite and helpful. Was really looking forward to trying this place out but very disappointed. Ordered 3 tacos and a torta and burrito de asada because asada was all they had (not all for me of course) and when we got home the asada was dry and almost seemed like ground beef and not flavorful at all. My friend and I discovered this Taco Truck on the side of Southern and Unser and learned that they stay open until Midnight! This is pretty awesome because now I know where to go if I really want some great authentic Mexican / New Mexican food in the middle of the night. We asked the cook what the best thing on the menu was, and he told us it's definitely the Carne Asada Burrito. We ordered Barbacoa Tacos and an the promised Carne Asada Burrito. (For those not in the know, Carne Asada is grilled and sliced beef and Barbacoa is also beef but from a unique cut of the cow, coming usually from the head of the animal.) We also wanted to try some of the unique Mexican sodas they offered, but sadly at the time they only had Coca-Cola and Orange Fanta. Luckily I love orange Fanta, but I was disappointed I couldn't try something new. The Carne Asada Burrito was fantastic. It was savory, juicy, salty, fresh and cooked and seared perfectly. The flavor was so good. I know what I'm ordering every time I come here in the future. The Barbacoa Tacos, not so much. They were well made, cooked okay, but the meat was a little dry and the flavor seemed off. It may just be that Barbacoa doesn't make great taco meat. Maybe next time I'll try it with some chicken or Carne Asada instead, which I know is made perfect. Something about this place also seems kinda... shady? For one, there's no prices on the menu of the truck. So in order to know how much something costs, you have to ask. Second, our one burrito, taco plate and two soda bottles came to $25. What? Not only that, we were told if we use a credit card they have to charge us tax. Which is of course totally... normal? What happens if we pay cash? We .... don't? LOL what? Only in New Mexico right? -_o One last thing, like any good New Mexican food place, they offer green and red chile. The green was flavorful and had just the right amount of spice to be both delicious and incredibly spicy. I recommend it over the red chile which was MUCH more spicy, but had little to no flavor. It was like goopy, spicy water. If you're a person that only likes hotter for the sake of being hot, use the red chile. If you like a little flavor when your mouth melts from the lava, get the green. read more

Pretty good. Would go back. I had the Asada Burrito and an Al Pastor Taco. Was 10$ even which seemed expensive at first but it was a good amount of food and it came with free guacamole. (No one gives free guac!) The taco was fine but nothing special as it made from store brand tortillas. The burrito, however was big and meaty and exactly what I was craving. I went to the location by Cibola skate park one night and had read pretty decent reviews so was excited to try. Super disappointed. I ordered 4 asada tacos and the meat was so dry, yuck. Like little pellets dry and super crisp. No flavor and on top of that, they went all over load on the cilantro and onions. My daughter and I didn't enjoy our tacos so we trashed all tacos after two bites. And the wait was ridiculous as well as the guy and girl ran out of something so he had to floor it to the store across the street. Will not try again. I was very excited to have a good taco place close by. I come by on a Sunday around 12 and it's closed even though their fb says they open at 11am. We call and they said they'll open at 1pm. I go kill some time for an hour then come at 1:15 and it's still not open. Their tacos are really good but if they're not gonna abide by their hours posted and have to hope they're open when I drive to their truck then it's not worth the hassle. Today, I wanted to try out tacos from another taco truck. I tried Sanchez tacos who was relocated from their Unser/Southern location to 5 minutes north of Southern on Unser next to a Community Church. I arrived at the truck with the wind at my heels and feeling drops of water on my shoulder. I got the order of 2 Asada and 4 Al Pastor tacos in as quickly as I can. A taco was $2.25 each which is similar in price with other taco trucks. I ordered them with the works of onions, cilantro and green/red chile mix. I was hoping not for a downpour while I wait for the cook to prepare the tacos. When I received them, I found that they ran out of cilantro and they added more onions to the tacos. No problem but when I took the tin foil off, no red/green chile mix. The meat was dry and had little flavor with the Asada and more flavor with the Al Pastor. I was really hoping for the full experience. Maybe today, they were off their game. I'm willing to give them a another chance. Try them out and hope they have all their condiments. read more

You've got to be kidding me. This is the best thing we've eaten in New Mexico so far. It was surrounded by locals at lunch time so we pulled in. So glad we did! A little wait since it was so busy but worth every minute. Get the Asada. In any form it's amazing. The Quesadilla was a bit oily and def messy to eat but the flavor was out of this world. The barbacoa burrito was delicious too and easier to eat. Not as greasy as the quesadilla but ask for them to put everything on whatever you get so that you get the onions, cilantro, lettuce, tomato, etc. salsa verse is also amazing. Red is spicy but not crazy hot, green is sweet and delicious. We also convinced the neighboring vendor to sell us half a bag of oranges rather than a full one since we're traveling. When I got home, what instantly came to mind was "we should have checked the order before we left.". The meat didn't smell fresh and it didn't look like what I've ever had before. For the price we paid we could have made them at home for less... I got 8 plain tacos and and quesadilla full of garnish and onions. I think this place deserves at solid 3 for the whole experience and cost. The food was good (when we finally got the right order) the service on the other hand could use some help. We ordered from grub hub for our family of 8. It took over an hour for the order. When it finally arrived I didn't have time to look over the order. Took the food inside and the family started to open. I go back inside excited to eat some al pastor tacos only to realize more than half the order is missing. What's my other option except to drive down there and get the rest. On the way we try to call the establishment to give them a heads up we're on our way and to hopefully expedite it because mind you it's been 1.30 hours now. No answer, ok fine we're on our way anyways. Get there and I show here the food and explain we only got half our order and the rest of the food is now cold. i simply asked for the whole order since half was missing and to remake the few we actually received because they were now cold. The lady proceeds to argue and blame Grubhub. Ok fine, I don't care who's fault it is just fix it. She keeps at it, asking for the order multiple times and telling me and trying to show me what grubhub sent them. Keeps insisting it the order was for only half.
