Daniel came out yesterday late afternoon to bid some irrigation repair. He checked out the control valves in the two areas needing attention and both were good. One area had a hose that was not feeding properly and he simply back-fed it from some PVC with an adapter and everything worked!! The other are had a failed Orbit manifold which I replaced this morning and it a whole area works and is ready for planting. The whole troubleshooting took less than an hour and his price was very fair and he was on his way. My wife and I are excited about adding flowers to some of the repaired areas. We bought a beautiful mid century home that was built in the 50s. The good news was it was gorgeous and sits on over an acre of land. The bad news is it was built in the 50s so we had A LOT of work to do. We found out while we were in escrow that none of the sprinklers worked, either in the front yard or the back. We were told that there had been a leak somewhere, and rather than find and fix the leak, the people we were buying the house from had decided it would be cheaper and easier to just cap off the water source. Great. After we had closed escrow and moved into the house, I asked our gardener to take a look at the system and see what he thought. As he and I were walking around the property, checking all the valves (no water) and looking for the point where the previous owner had capped off the water, I could tell he was in over his head. After we looked around for a while and basically found nothing helpful to our cause, he said he would think about it and let me know what he could do. After two weeks had passed and no call from my gardener, I knew I was going to have to reach out to a professional. I went to Yelp and reached out to a number of sprinkler repair companies. Of all the companies, Daniel was the most responsive. He made it a point to come out the same day to look at the situation. After going over our entire front and back yard with Daniel, it was obvious we were going to have to basically just start from scratch. The old galvanized pipes were rotting and broken, so rather than dig up and locate ALL of the old pipes, we decided the only way to go is to install a brand new system. Daniel gave me a quote that I thought was fair, and said he would get to work in a few days. Let me tell you, this job was WAY more work than either Daniel or I had initially thought. His poor crew had to dig trenches that probably amounted to over 200 yards! My front and back yards looked like I had been infested by moles! Lol... I say this because there were holes and trenches all over our property. But after three days of very hard work, Daniel and his crew had completed the mission...we had water in our yard!! Daniel installed a very nice Hunter eight station timer and made sure to run through each of the stations with me once the job was done. Their work was very clean and I would highly recommend them. Called Sanchez irrigation after the water company alleged the leak in my driveway was from a sprinkler valve. Daniel came out and diagnosed the problem as coming from the public water main. He was obviously very busy that day and went out of his way to explain why. In addition, he didn't charge me for the visit. Called the water company again, they came out and again, said it was a "me" problem and pointed out where it "appeared" the pvc was leaking. Called this poor guy Daniel again. Believing the water company rep, who, while well meaning and personable, misidentified the problem and convinced me otherwise. Daniel took even more time to really help me see the location of the leak because it was deceiving. Again, nothing charged. So now, like the genius I am, I have to really get on the water company's case to fix their problem. I couldn't have been able to really figure this out without Sanchez irrigation.
