I've bought many new vehicles throughout my lifetime and have experienced many different dealers. Not all were great, but most of them were good and some excellent. This dealership, Sanborn Chevorlet, is by far the worst dealership I've ever experienced when it comes to the service department. They've had my truck for two days. I had to call and follow up twice, never got a call regarding the status and in the end my complete experience was terrible. Basically Brand new GMC Denali 2500 with 14,000 miles on it and the brake rotors had issues. After having my truck for two days they told me it's not covered by warranty and wanted a small fortune to replace them. Any fly by night shop could have gave me that answer in an hour or two, not two days! Not to mention, I can get the work done for 1/3 of their cost. I will not go back & will never even consider them when it comes time to make another purchase. There's plenty of GM & GMC dealers and I'd strongly advise to skip this one! Read some of the many other negative Sanborn service dept related reviews and run, don't walk away from this place. No wonder they don't have much inventory....its because they dont sell many cars/trucks because of their sub par service dept. read more

Still going to keep them at a one star. Took my truck here for a service light and oil change. While checking in for service was told to leave it, mind you this is our family car. Then popped the hood and said they can't let us leave with it. So we get a shuttle home and about 4/5 hours later finally get a call to go to hertz because they don't loaners. Hertz was close to closing in an hour and pick up was on hold so i had to uber there using my own money to get a rental. At hertz it inform Sanborn Lodi only paid for a $40/45 a day limit giving us a 4.5 seat we have a 8 seater traverse. Our truck was kept from Friday till Tuesday, so using a small car for a family of 8 is a hassle. Another cheap way they don't take care of their customers. Instead of giving the oil change for free for the inconvenience they charged us normal pricing and still had the nerve to ask if they wanted us to pay for a cabin filter 50/70 service. Definitely won't be coming back. So avoid Chevy in Lodi and Tracy now. read more

Service department was told 3 times there was an issue with the transmission while the car was under warranty. 400 miles outside the warranty they admitted the transmission was blown and needed to be replaced. Wouldn't honor the warranty. Was 0 help with the entire thing. Save your money and shop somewhere else. read more

Update: Dealership is currently working with me to try to resolve this I was looking to lease an EV and I spoke to San, one of the sales persons at this location. They offered me a lease rate for a one pay price over the phone which they initially couldn't beat a competitor's price but ended up calling me back to try to earn my business and after I agreed to the price he sent me a link to check my credit with a link to the vehicle details. Once I received the links I asked him to confirm the numbers we agreed to and if I hadn't asked him to please confirm the pricing in writing prior to me clicking the submit button for the credit app I would have had an inquiry on my credit and now all of the sudden the lease rate is quadruple the cost of the price they quoted me. The salespersons excuse is the manager forgot to put a rate in money factor, whatever that means. Unfortunately this is far from being unprofessional. This is actually unethical. If you're looking to purchase or lease a vehicle please stay away from this location. I will not be doing business with this location. You would think that after they've admitted to their mistake they would at least honor the price they quoted me but instead they decide to do nothing about it. read more

The service people do half ass jobs, they take hours to fix a small issue and will do the job incorrectly. I had things installed and it's flying out while driving. Lazy workers and nobody cares. I purchased a 2019 traverse from Sanborn. The back up camera was broken prior to the purchase. Sanborn stated they would fix the camera. 6 years and repeated visits the camera is still not fixed. The service department has been unwilling to fix the matter. No ethical dealer will see you a vehicle that is already broken. A year and a half ago we started bringing the car in for concerns over how the vehicle was driving and expressed that we thought there were transmission issues. Sanborn repeatedly told us "no issues" then right when it got out of warranty, they stated it had issues and needed $8,500 in repairs. We took it for a second opinion elsewhere and it was less than half the price. I expressed these concerns to Jason the service manager and he refused to address the concerns. He said to bring the car in, and I had to tell him the car IS there and has been for 4 weeks. He didn't even know our car was there! What kind of "manager" address customers and concerns without proper knowledge before hand. Additionally I expressed these concerns in writing so he clearly saw may name and proceeded to address me by the wrong name. The service department is incompetent and WIL NOT provide you with the response or repair you need. I do not recommend Sanborn for purchase of vehicles as there is no follow through or continuance of service. They are unethical and will sell vehicles with pre existing issues. Then the service department can not provide proper support and is incapable of repairing vehicles. Also I have asked to speak with Jason's supervisor or the owner and have received no response. Unfortunately, I have had to escalate this matter outside of the dealership. read more

I went through the process of purchasing a vehicle on Car Gurus and located at Sanborn Chevrolet in Lodi. I received notification that "You are all set. Next steps are that someone from Sanborn will contact you." This was on a Friday and I made an appointment to pick up and finalize the following Monday. No one ever contacted me from the dealership. I called them to confirm my appointment to come test drive and finalize paperwork. The salesperson I spoke to told me the car I bought online had been sold over the weekend. Don't you THINK that someone from the dealership should have checked to see if that car was a pending purchase? If I had driven two hours each way to go pick this car up, only to find out they sold it AFTER I went through all the paperwork hassle they would have called me? The salesperson blamed ME, the consumer for not contacting them when it clearly states on the email you receive from Car Gurus that the dealership will contact you. I wouldn't buy a Coke from this place let alone a car. HORRIBLE customer service and extremely rude. read more

Sanborn service department is below standard. I brought my car in for a 7:45 am service appointment. At 4:15pm, I called to check the status of my car. They hadn't even looked at it. On questioning, the service representative said they "will probably look it sometime tomorrow." So, my car sat there all day, and it may possibly get looked at tomorrow. I asked for the manager, and was told he will be back tomorrow. I told the representative I will pick-up the car today and take it somewhere else. A few minutes later, another service rep called and said they will definitely work on it tomorrow. Just to also mention: When I brought it in for my appointment, 2 of the service representatives looked busy on computers and were not handling customers. The other one had a short line and was the only one handling taking care of customers. Nobody acknowledges customers when they arrive. read more

Communication was terrible throughout the process. Took way longer than it should have with parts not being ordered 3 weeks into the process. I was told they where putting new doors on my truck. That did not happen. My truck was giving back to me not finished, with lights on the dash, and I had to bring to another shop to fix and pay out of pocket. Worst experience I have ever had. Also, a new hood was put on my truck, apparently the hood vent trim wasn't replaced and replaced with the old one, which they didn't clip in all the way and flew off while I was driving on the highway. Now I will have to come out of pocket for a new one. Also, I gave the manager my keys to my hitch lock as the grill guard I had was replaced and had a hitch mounted license plate which I never got back as well. I will never recommend Sanborn Collision Department and will never bring back one of my vehicles there again. read more

I previously purchased vehicles from Sanborn Chevrolet. I purchased a new Blazer in 2020 but not from Sanborn. I needed an oil change and tire rotation so I went to Sanborn. When we pulled in to the quick lube the employee came out and asked what I needed. When I told him what I needed he asked if I purchased the vehicle there. After saying no he said the price would be $130. I needed it and was there so I said ok. He came back out and said I needed tires so they couldn't do the tire rotation. He said the oil change alone would be $106. Whatever. We went in to the waiting room. I looked at their website on my phone and the advertised price they had posted was $74.99. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! When I mentioned it to the kid working in the office he charged me that price. If I hadn't looked it up I would have been ripped off for $30. Not good service! I have been going to Sanborn Chevrolet and their Quick Lube area for years and had the biggest disappointment happened at my last visit. I was getting my oil changed and the tech broke a piece off of the cooling system. I was then sent over and given a quote. At that time I told them I came in for an oil change and they caused the damage in my car. It's sad that they would even think that they can possibly get away from paying for their damages caused to my car. After missing work and picking it up the next day I had to pay for my oil change and add ons that I didn't approve like a new rubber stopper for the oil pan that was $30 plus dollars. Now after having no trouble with my vehicle for years the entire coolant system is out of whack. A hose blew and now I can't drive my car. I know it seem unfair blaming them however they are the only ones who had made and repairs to my coolant system lines. I will never go here again. They have lost the business of a very loyal customer. read more

I bought a vehicle recently and the experience was okay. The sales person, who is no longer there, was good. They got us a fair price and made sure we were good to go. The sales manager is very rude though and won't even say hi. They play a good sales person, bad manager game to say they are working for you. But it's a scheme. They will get you. The financial manager will push you for maintenance plan but it's a rip off as the first 3 years there are only oil changes once a year and 2 air filters for $700. You can do it all for $200 yourself over 3 years. Overall the dealership is super old and doesn't have many amenities. You could get a deal but they are not too friendly. The sales person was nice but no longer there. I would go back but may skip out for Stockton. read more

He gave me the best repair estimate possible, which unfortunately for my little old car was essentially the value of the car itself. That being the case, we decided to sell the car for scrap, and John called other shops and salvage guys he knew to get me the most money possible for my vehicle. He stayed at the shop past closing so I could collect my things from the car one day, and he stayed in good communication with me through the sale of the car.
