This experience was not that good. We were seated at 2:00pm. We arrived just after the lunch rush. The chips were overcooked. We ordered cheese quesadilla for our girls and it came out really quick. My wife ordered chicken street tacos and I ordered a burrito and a taco. 30 minutes go by and the waitress said there is one ticket in front of ours. We got our food in just over 30 minutes. The taco was a lot of ground beef with no seasoning. It did have a little bit of cheese on top. My burrito was shredded chicken that was dry with no seasoning as well. Nothing special about my family's order. My wife's street tacos chicken tasted better. Not much comes with it. No vegetables like tomato's or lettuce, or even cabbage. Excellent Mexican food. Made fresh so be patient. It took a long time - so call in 30-45 minutes in advance. They only make menudo in the cooler months so I will be back in November to try it. Due to the COVID-19 the meat was overpriced. But I have been tipping bigger during COVID-19 in support of our small businesses and restaurants employees so it was ok for a take out. My apologies, no pictures added, we were so hungry as soon as the food hit the table we just dove in. Hubby and I ordered the mixed fajitas for two and my biggest takeaway were the tortillas. I've eaten tortillas all my life and these were amazing! My husband and I are still discussing them, 5 hours later, we just don't understand. The chicken and steak fajitas were great. My daughter got steak and she really enjoyed it. It was cooked just like she ordered it, medium. My son got chicken fingers that came with some delicious fries. I had a 3 night stay in Smithfield, and this was the best dining experience while in town. The service was great, from the hostess, to the waitress, and the of course the food. They couldn't make my drink, but I can't complain because the guac was fresh and tasty, the shrimp tacos were flavorful and juicy, and all the sides were really good too. We chose this spot to have supper tonight. We had never been but the exterior was attractive and the thought of Mexican seemed just right. What a pleasant surprise. Boy was it good! It was served piping hot and very plentiful - actually more than we could eat. The refried beans and rice was perfect. Traveling from FL to MA we were staying in Smithfield and had dinner here. My main man wanted a tamale with red beans and rice. He was able to order the tamale, but no red beans and rice available. I ordered the sope, first time, with chicken strips. We also had a side of guacomole. For libations we each ordered the 16 oz. special margarita at $14.95. Our server, JoAnne, was the best. Our guac and entrees arrived very quickly. The guac was good and my dining partner ate every bite of his entree, but said it wasn't anything like tamales he has eaten and enjoyed in the past. I did not care for my entree, but maybe because I didn't know what a sope should taste like? Our margaritas were way too sweet for our liking so we asked for extra lime to tone down the sweetness. Kudos for the extra lime! I love lime and have often asked for extra. This place brought us two whole limes cut in half (no restaurant/bar anywhere has ever done that) and that helped cut the sweetness of the drinks. Lots of pluses for this place, give it a try. read more

The server was great but the chicken enchilada was terrible. The chicken was in huge chunks and very tough. I liked the cheese, beef and bean enchiladas but I could not cut the chicken enchilada with a knife. The server agreed and asked about it. They said it's supposed to be that way. Wish I would have taken a pic because it was bad. I left 2 chicken enchiladas on the plate with no compensation. I have traveled many places and the chicken enchiladas had shredded meat. Best Mexican food I've eaten in a very long time! I had a chicken chimichanga and the chicken was very flavorful and tender. The accompanying guacamole salad was very tasty and the spices used were just right. The beans were served in a fried corn shell which was different but very flavorful. I also loved the homemade salsa that was served with chips as we were seated. Th flan I had for dessert was also wonderful. When my husband and I realized San Marcos was only mere steps from the front door of the hotel, it became our oasis in the desert. If you have the option to sit in Nidia's section, do it. You will enjoy a delightful blend of relatability and professionalism. Thank you, Nidia! Being serious tequila aficionados, we immediately ordered two shots of reposado, hold the salt and lime. We ordered queso to start, which was delicious! I am also an expert in queso. We asked for a side of fresh jalapeños to give the queso a kick, and Nidia was right on it. My husband had the chicken fajitas, and I had two tacos. We were both very pleased. The food was spot-on! Throughout the meal, we ordered two more shots of reposado each. When we assured Nidia we weren't driving because we were staying at the hotel across the street, she didn't hesitate to let us know we would get a 10% discount with our room keys. Super sweet! Such a welcomed restaurant for this area, we have been sorely lacking a quality Mexican food establishment. The food here is great, literally everything I tried had good flavor and was cooked exactly as it was described. My favorite however is the chicken tortilla soup. Y'all need to try it, you will not be sorry! So much flavor, full of chicken, rice, avocado, cilantro, etc... Sadly, I did not remember to get a picture before i ate all of it lol. The decor is neat, and I liked the inside of the dining room. The unlimited chips were a plus too, usually where I'm from chips and salsa aren't free. I ordered the taco supreme with ground beef. 3 small, sad looking tacos with barely any taste. Nothing tasted authentic. They tasted as if the chef never had Mexican food before. Yuck! I'll give it a 4 cause the meal I ordered was amazing! A shrimp dish with huge pieces of bacon smothered in a chipotle cheese sauce. Never had a Mexican dish like that. So delicious!!! And it came with 3 tortillas, rice and beans were perfect! I even got a choco flan to go. Perfect way to end the meal. My only complaint would be the cleanliness of the bar. Ate here for dinner with three other people and it wasn't bad. The place has a fun/festive Mexican decor all around the walls. It is nice that you get unlimited chips and salsa, but try not to fill up on them before the meal. The beer menu is nothing spectacular, and just the usual cheap Mexican beer you can get anywhere else. The service is a bit slow and our waiter hardly hit the table much. The food wasn't bad and I did enjoy my meal. The ACP was really good and cheesy, because anything with a lot of cheese is delicious. I must have been to San Marcos at the wrong time as I chose San Marcos because of Yelp reviews. The customer service was a hot mess. I sat at the bar since I travel for work and eat by myself all the time. Besides asking for my drink order, I had to request everything from the bartender. She seemed nice but was not efficient as the place was not busy at all. My food came out before I received my basket of chips and they brought the wrong order out. When I told the person who ran my food out I received the wrong order he kind of looked at my funny, waited a moment, then finally said "i'll take this away." The bartender did check on me and I told her I got the wrong order. When she asked what happened she said "ok, good I thought it was my fault." With my experience working in the restaurant business for over 10 years, that is something you would not say to a customer, you would apologize. I sat there for a while before I finally asked for the bartender to fill up my water. Once I asked for the check, I told them I was staying at the nearby hotel that gets 10% off the check. When I told her, it took them 10 minutes (mind you, they had my card during this time) to finally process the payment. I'm not sure how they got such high marks or if it's just in comparison to other Mexican restaurants in Smithfield. Overall, the food was just ok and the service was horrible. read more

Absolutely delicious. We went there for dinner on Wednesday and everything was outstanding. The chips and salsa were even 5 star worthy. My husband and I got the Texas Fajitas for 2 with cheese. OMG. I have never had a better fajita. The cheese is melted on the skillet with the food and it's more of a cream cheese sauce from heaven. Honestly I will be here often. The guacamole is terrific, definitely fresh made. Had the lunch portions of the Burrito Crema, chicken fijitas, enchiladas verdes with chicken, and a quesadilla with shrimp chicken and steak inside. The beans aren't your standard runny refried beans but thick with almost a chili bean flavor. Tortillas for the fijitas were a bit chewy from being steamed but still good.
