My kids are 18 and 17; the San Leandro Pediatric Dentistry has treated them since they were 2 and 3. Both girls got braces, which is in the same location. The people who work there are amazing and knowledgeable, and they have made my kids feel so comfortable. Even with my kids driving now, they are happy to take themselves to their own appointment and check in themselves (makes them feel like an adult). This place gives them the confidence to do that. Worse place you can take your kids to. Never again. I would do 0 stars if I could. Martha is a liar, rude, disrespectful lady and kept hanging up on me and sending my calls to voicemail. Martha charged my credit card 14 months after the service was provided. After a deposit, payment, and insurance was billed without my authorization. I received a bill and no one was able to explain what I was being charged for. They charged me for 7 cavities but when I asked how many were filled they didn't know. The doctor said he didn't count them. Martha said that it wasn't a priority to count cavities and that is why they do a follow up appointment to know. However, my daughter never went to follow up. So why bill me for 7 cavities if no one counted them. When I took my daughter to a different dental office they stated that my daughter did not have 7 cavities filled. Do not fall for this place, remove your credit card from their file. Martha commits fraud. She will charge your credit card without authorization and play it off. She will tell you that you signed a consent form yea 14 months ago and charges a bill that was never sent. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE! read more

My son's 3rd time with Dr. Hipolito. My son is very fearful about going to a dentist. Dr. Hipolito has always been very kind and patient. Staff are very understanding. The first two visits were difficult but the staff has always been great with him. This last visit required a lot of work on our part to prep him. A lot of practice at home with lying down while brushing, as recommended by Dr. Hipolito. We read stories to help him with this last visit and he did a great job. He received a sticker and a toy!!! I wish I could give ZERO stars because one star is FAR too generous! I took my children to San Leandro Pediatric Dentistry for cleanings, x-rays, and exams. They were both seen by Dr. Miguel Hipolito who reviewed their x-rays and performed their exams. San Leandro Pediatric Dentistry has a policy against parents going back with their children, so I remained in the waiting room while my children were being seen. After their appointments, both boys came out to the waiting room, and I was told to wait while the front desk staff completed their treatment plans. After several minutes I was called to the front desk where treatment plans for both boys were explained to me. I was told that one had 6 cavities and the other had 4. I was very surprised, but I trusted the doctor and had no reason to doubt what I was being told. I would like to mention that Dr. Hipolito never spoke to or went over the x-rays with me. The plan for both children was for the cavities to be filled on three separate sessions, which I found excessive. I was told that I would have to pay $125 per child, per visit for nitrous oxide. When I question why so many appointments, I was told that they do not like to numb more than one side of the mouth per visit. I understand but asked why they could not perform the fillings on two visits instead of three and I was told that was a possibility but would have to be discussed with the doctor. The out-of-pocket expense estimate I was given was $1,344.20. Concerned for the oral health of my children and trusting the information I was given, I set up an appointment for the first round of fillings for the following week at San Leandro Pediatric. After the visit to San Leandro Pediatric Dentistry, I contacted Delta Dental with questions about my coverage and I was informed that I get 85% coverage at a PPO dental office and only 80% at a premier dental office. I contacted Castro Valley Pediatric Dentistry which is a PPO office and got an estimate for the work that San Leandro suggested, and it was significantly less expensive, so I decided to have the work done there. They stated that they had to schedule an exam first and asked me to have the x-rays sent over from San Leandro. I took my kids to Castro Valley Pediatric Dentistry for their exam. She reviewed their x-rays and her office contacted San Leandro and had their panoramic x-rays sent over as well. She did their oral exam and at the end of the visit she told me that my 1st child had no cavities and my second had one. I was shocked and infuriated by her findings. I could not believe that there was such a discrepancy between what Dr. Hipolito stated vs. what I was told at Castro Valley. Dr. Hipolito stated that there were 10 cavities that needed to be filled, while Castro Valley found only 1! Dr. Hipolito negligently, grossly, and falsely recommended unnecessary treatment for my children. He deliberately attempted to extort the most money he could from me, not only by recommending a false treatment plan, but by recommending the treatment be performed in 3 visits. And while the issue of money is extremely upsetting, his attempt to perform false and unnecessary treatment on my children and subjecting them to unnecessary pain, anxiety and potentially damaging perfectly healthy teeth, not to mention giving them nitrous oxide and other numbing agents, is unforgivable and definitely malpractice. I contacted their office over 10 days ago and was told that Dr. Hipoloito would call me back...I'm still waiting. read more

I' love Dr. Hippolito. My pediatrician recommended him and he's great! My kid had a ton of work needed and he's extremely scared of the dentist like me. We had to have him put under anesthesia to do the work. The best thing about DR.H is that he has Kaiser access. We did the procedures at Kaiser Sam Leandro, this made me feel so much better. My daughter loves going to the dentist! For days, she's been talking about seeing Mr. Water, Mr. Thirsty and Mr. Bee, the dental tools, and even volunteered to brush her teeth before her appointment. We have been coming approximately a year now. Her regular doctor, Dr. Chen, is young and bubbly but today we saw Dr. Smith and he was patient and knows exactly how to make conversation with a toddler. The hygienist was equally friendly. My mom liked that the hygienist was able to talk to my daughter in English and my mom in Spanish. We had no wait time and we were out within twenty minutes with my daughter's new rubber duckies from the treasure chest in tow. Thanks fellow Yelpers for a recommendation I truly value. read more

Took my 8 year old son here for the 1st time after changing insurance. He's always been super anxious about going to the dentist since his experience at his previous dentist office wasn't always the best. They're kids, they're curious and they're unsure of what's going on so it helps when the place you bring them to has people who answer their questions and are aware of their feelings. Chandler (i think that's her name it said it on her jacket) was the kind lady who made my sons experience pleasant, she was super informative and answered all the questions we had. After the doctor examined my sons X-rays they brought me back to talk to about what is to expect within the next few months and that everything looks good and they will see us in 6 months! My daughters [6 and 2 years old] have a new dental insurance so I decided to Yelp some pediatric offices . This office was near my home so why not give it a try. Dr. Was nice and very good with kids. My 2 year old was not very cooperative with the assistant but she did well with Dr. . Polish, floss and exam and my little girl was set for 6 month. My 6 year old loves the dentist. We have a special needs son who does not like having anyone attempt dentistry work on him. However, we have always had good experiences working with Dr. Hipolito. He is so calm and does not get fazed or flustered in any way no matter what the situation is. Even once when he was bitten, he remained calm and measured. Zahira (assistant) is also such a pro and also has a very calming presence. When we moved away from San Leandro we tried a new childrens dentistry practice closer to home. After 3 failed visits, the new Dr. told us she was unable to provide service to our son. We agreed that it wasn't a fit. Horrible customer service and Dr hipolito was rude. I only came to him as referral because there aren't many pediatric dentist that do GA in my area and my pediatric son has special needs and his regular dentist didn't do GA. He over charged horrible bedside manner didn't speak to me or our son or make us feel comfortable with our primarily non verbal child but my son needed the work. In the middle of me and my husband talking explaining the situation he cut me off and said only 1 can be in here after we already explained only 1 of us would stay back there while he put on the crown. I said that's rude in the middle of me talking u cut me off ignore me and start talking to my husband. He said I'll give him his crown but I think our communication is off I said I would hope so and we paid for it months ago! I told the primary not to refer to them again. The work was sub par and failed shortly after he did it and it took over 3 months to get my sons crown put in. I had to follow up with the mgr because nobody called me to even say it was in. Please run for the hills away from this place and especially Dr hipolito especially if your a POC or have a disability. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. read more

We were not impressed with the consultation. I am not generally taken with office atmosphere but there seemed a busy but almost angry and oppressive pall about the office. It is the feeling one gets when an employee was just yelled at by the boss before you walked in. Something did not seem right. It began in small room that appeared not especially clean but had the appearance of a well painted room with a sloppy paint job. Even the electrical receptacles had been painted. The room did not appear modern. We met with an unidentified person we later determined was a dental assistant who told us the dentist's preferred procedure for a tooth extraction. Xrays were later taken with a hand held device that seemed not modern. Twice our 4 year old was given sunglasses taken from counters to shade her from the light as they observed her mouth. The glasses were visibly in need of cleaning. I would have felt more comfortable if they were removed from a clean bag after they had been cleaned but she had them on her face each time before I could object. We subsequently talked with the dentist who reviewed the X-rays and reversed everything said by the dental assistant, and also, he found four cavities. In the consultation the dentist seem to leave the door open for additional work performed if he later felt it necessary. The dentist did not seem reassuring or particularly positive. Twice we had interrupt him to seek clarification. We told the dentist our 4 year old was in pain and has had no prior contact dental procedure. In that consultation, the dentist repeatedly referred to the referring dentist as Merkovitz, instead of Meirovitz and said he knew him. I didn't find the dentist appropriately responsive to questions asked but assumed he was busy. The dentist charged $207 for a consultation with xrays and the office staff provided and expense list for the extraction and the xrays at a later time for an additional $1700. We were told the office procedures were to be conducted in 3 visits. The tooth extraction was to be the last visit. We were told that we could not be present in the room during her procedures and this was her first dental visit. The dentist was no longer available and we telephoned that afternoon to ask the dentist why he would schedule the most critical visit last when she was now in pain. The office staff tried to insist we receive a return call from the office manager. We insisted the dentist return our call. The dentist never returned our call. We later located a dentist in another city with a contrasting positive experience at a 45 percent cost reduction in a much more supportive and friendly atmosphere. The new office chose to pursue the extraction somewhat differently but won our confidence. Most important, we were allowed to be present in the room for her extraction, which was her first dental procedure. I am going to talk to our primary dentist about his referral. read more

Brought in our 5yr old to see Dr. Miguel Hipolito for the 1st time.... I'm so happy I found this place through Yelp!!!! We just moved to the area and finding a trusted Pediatric Dentist practice was like finding a needle through a haystack, so I resorted to going through yelp reviews and came across this place!!!! The staff where wonderful. We did arrive slightly early just in case we encountered insurance coverage hassle, sure enough we encountered some problems with our coverage and the Gal's here where very patient as well as gave us full details of the issues they came across and re assured us they see issues with insurances all the time (def made us feel at ease) This was our 1st time using our dental insurance for our children so we knew we would face something like this. Problem was solved!!!! My son felt comfortable, he was very cooperative and Dr. Hipolito was extremely patient as well and spoke with plenty of Detail on any questions we had regarding our Son's dental hygiene, and upcoming teeth. I LOVE Dr. Hipólito's office. It's at a super convenient location and I always find street parking. I have been taking my daughter to see Dr. Hipólito since age 2 and every 6 months there after. She is now 7 years old. His personnel is beyond AWESOME and SUPER friendly. He had 1 person named Alex that my daughter totally fell in LOVE with. She made it a pleasant experience for her that she loves to get her pearly whites checked out every time. Even though Alex is no longer there the other members like Claudia and Chandler to name a couple make it awesome for my daughter. It's nice that Dr. Hipólito and his personnel get to know you and your child on a one on one basis. Usually kids don't like going to the dentist but mine loves it. This review is long overdue. My son has been coming to this dental office for about 3 years now. The staff is great with kids, very friendly and considerate of both children and parents. My son loved the finding nemo decorations and fish tanks throughout the building. It was my first time in a pediatric dentist office and was extremely impressed with how kid-friendly the place is, they really go above and beyond to make the best out of the whole dentist experience for kids. They put T.V.s on the ceiling and have cool sunglasses for the children to wear during cleaning and stuff. After the whole experience, they give them a goody bag with a choice of stickers and a toy if it is ok with the parents. Also, once a year they have an "ice cream social" for all patients with a petting zoo and other fun kids activities.
