DJ Earl did an amazing job with a difficult client we worked with in June. On top of that, it was 105 degrees out and Earl was a real trooper. Although he got very little info about the music choices from the couple ahead of time, he winged it and had the dance floor packed all night with a variety of ages and cultures. I also had the pleasure of working with him on another wedding two weeks ago and under much better circumstances and he killed it, once again. As a wedding planner, I love working with Earl because he spends a lot of time preparing for the gig ahead of time and is great about communicating with the couple and even checks out the venue ahead of time. He's professional, uses quality equipment and and is an absolute pleasure to work with. Try him and you'll agree! Patty Speirs Every Last Detail Wedding & Event Coordination read more

We couldn't have asked for a better DJ and MC for our special day! Earl was able to play all the songs we requested, and was very professional and kind. He has many years of experience and different genres of music as well. Thank you for making our wedding an unforgettable celebration! You truly helped create magical memories that will last a lifetime. read more

It has been a few day's since the Star Wars Surprise High School Graduation Party and I just received photos from the photographer. I've been looking forward to jumping on Yelp to tell you all about Earl! Not only did he make booking easy, he even came to meet me and discuss the details of the event, style of music and overall theme. He showed up an hour early to set up and had everything he needed with him. He was well dressed and rocked the night away for all our high school graduates. Everyone was out on the dance floor! Since it was a surprise party, when the guest of honor came in the Star Wars theme song came on and it was a PRICELESS moment! Highly recommend San Jose DJ!! read more

Earl was so easy to work with. We loved his energy, his willingness to accommodate our song requests, and he was very affordable compared to other DJ's in the business. He was flexible on many things such as MC'ing games for our event and even took pictures for us! He's got an amazing personality and spirit and we wholeheartedly recommend him to entertain your next event. He also has great communication skills and returns calls and messages promptly. He arrived early for set up and was ready to go. We will definitely hire him for future parties. 5 stars for Earl, no doubt! read more

Earl is super friendly, accommodating, and awesome to work w/. He even opened another outlet for payment since my company card would not allow PayPal transactions. At first I wanted to give him a playlist but I got super busy so I never sent it to him. We talked and I told him what I would like to play and he basically took care of the rest. I got to Billy Berk's about 45 minutes prior to the start of our event and he was already set-up. He came equipped w/ water and I think he had coffee, too. I stopped by a few times to ask him to join us for dinner but he declined. My GM doesn't dance. After a few drinks, he was the one dancing and pulling everyone onto the dance floor. I can say that it was a very successful event. Everyone that came had a great time. The music was appropriate and I was glad that I took the dance floor w/ my Operations Manager first. He was the one that hired me a few years ago. I was just a temp. Things are completely different now. Thank you, Earl. I will call on him for our next event! read more

Earl at San Jose DJ lended his services at our wedding and we were truly impressed! He is great at getting a good feel of what kind of music you would like to be played and the sort of tone you would like your reception to convey. He had almost ALL of our guests on the dance floor having an amazing time! He also provided mini-coordinating services, designed a timeline of the reception, and provided that timeline to our guests with their place settings at no extra charge. He was affordable and went the extra mile with everything. He even sent us an unexpected set of photographs in the mail that he had taken!! I cannot rave enough. Give Earl a call!! read more

We are so happy that we hired Earl for our wedding! He is a wonderful and sweet man with a great taste in music. He was very organized, professional, and quick to respond to all of our messages. He had a vast knowledge of all different types of music to make everyone happy and want to dance. My guests had a great time and still keep remarking that they loved the music! We felt that he went above and beyond to be a fantastic DJ and he even sent us photos from the wedding which really warmed our hearts. Thank you so much for everything Earl!! read more

My wife and I (still have to get used to saying that) were recently married this past Saturday, Earl Joseph was our DJ of choice for our event. We had considered other DJs prior to deciding on Earl and I feel terrible even giving any other DJ any sort of consideration out of respect for Earl because he couldn't have executed his services anymore flawlessly than he did on Saturday night. Over a year ago, we had interviewed Earl to see what he was all about and it was very evident even within the first five minutes of talking with him that he was extremely professional and had a passion for the work that he does. He went over every detail with a fine toothed comb and assured us that he would do an outstanding job. We selected all of own music and unlike other DJs who may try to guide your music selections or implement some of their own, Earl made sure that our event was truly catered to us. The sound system that he possessed was top-notch and it was completely complementary to the acoustics of our wedding venue. Earl also did an amazing job with the MC duties, he was a great facilitator and saw to it that everything was on schedule. You most certainly are the BEST DJ EVER as another posted so eloquently stated. You deserve all of the accolades that you have received and will continue to receive. Thank you so much for the best night I've ever had in my life! read more

DJ Earl dj'd for my 60th birthday ! DJ Earl was great! Everyone had a blast and he was very accommodating. He has a huge music selection and was very easy to work with. Earl did a great job at our wedding! We received many compliments about the music selection and volume. Earl was very professional and flexible when it came to last minute changes before and during the wedding. He also meet with us twice before the wedding, and exchanged emails to discuss the music selection. He also downloaded specific music requests we had from our native countries: France and South-Africa. Earl is a great DJ and would highly recommend him! read more

We had a beautiful wedding in San Martin! One reason was the professionalism of our DJ, Earl. Earl is not a spinner of records though he brought all of our favorites and added many more. The reason you hire Earl is that nothing goes unattended. Earl is on everything from getting the officient set up to taking care of the master of ceremonies role. He is on it all. The behind the scenes activitities were a guarantee that there was no dead space or anything for me, the bride to worry about. There are reasons why you should hire only professionals. As a Bay Area catering company owner, I have the opportunity to see many fellow event professionals in action. We cater ALOT of weddings, and work with many musicians, florists, photographers, DJ's, and more. The DJ can make or break the party, and I've seen the good and the bad. Earl Joseph -San Jose DJ- is great! In searching for a DJ for your wedding, you better make sure you are getting a "wedding DJ." Club DJ's just usually don't cut it here. Experience is so necessary when it comes to feeling out your crowd. Earl has 25+ years of DJ-ing weddings and delivers time and time again. The brides, grooms, and guests are always happy they chose him. In working with Earl for the past 10 or so years, he: - Always shows up on time (most of the time early) every time - Is always dressed professionally to fit the part - Is extremely organized. - Works with the couples on planning a smooth reception - Has a great presence on stage to lead the party (not cheesy at all) - When making announcements, he gets your name right (can't tell you how many times I've seen DJ's butcher names) - Has quality audio equipment with backups Earl reads the crowd well and adjusts the genre as well as the volume as needed to keep the people dancing. It is always my pleasure to refer Earl to my customers, because his professionalism always shines! read more

Earl did our wedding on 3 28 09. He has one flat rate for the ceremony and the reception..believe it or not thats very rare most people charge an insane amount to add the ceremony. He's very professional, and very fun! We had a "young wedding" and he had a HUGE variety of songs and he was able to get everyone dancing! He was even able to play a few cajun songs for my step dads side of the family! The best was 2 days after wedding we received a package from him..he sent us pictures that he took during the wedding without us even knowing! :) read more

Dear Earl, Mark and I would like to thank you so much for helping make our wedding day amazing and perfect. It was beautiful and we loved every second of the day. The day would not have been as wonderful without the time and effort you put into it. The number of times we have heard "Best Wedding Ever" from all the guests is crazy! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the music and had such a great time on the dance floor. And the music during the ceremony, cocktail hour, our entry into the room and during the garter/bouquet toss was very memorable and your choice of songs was perfect! We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for doing such a perfect job! It was great to meet you and to share this special time in our lives with you! Earl Joseph was one of the DJ's we talked to. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. He was awesome, he was very organized person, he responded in emails so fast. He'd mail us his "blue folder" where it consists of all the songs we want to be played on the wedding reception, he also had this trivia games, it was cool! He made it all easy for us. He also took some "stolen shot" pictures of us and the guests during reception and he mailed it to us, it was wonderful to have such person like Earl! DJ Earl was amazing! I let my husband deal with the DJ for our wedding. At first, I was hesitant to book him, but hey it was my husband's job, so I trusted him, and that was the best decision in my life as was marrying my husband. Earl was so professional that it shocked me! his playlist was packets long! If he didn't have a song, he made sure to get. He had the guest dancing, and that's what we wanted! We get compliments about him every day! You can't go wrong with him! BOOK HIM! read more

I am an event planner/planning genius/crisis management facilitator the general ringmaster of the show and I had the pleasure of working with Earl on a wedding this past weekend. I don't even know to begin so I'll hit the major 5-star points: * Professional - replies to all calls and emails lightening-fast, which I appreciate since I need to secure services and details as soon as possible to best service my clients. * He DJ's full time - it's not a "side gig" for him and he gives his clients 100%. * He knows his stuff - the groom requested a vague song and Earl was able to not only find it but play it within a few minutes. We had a mixed group of guests at the wedding and he had EVERYONE up and dancing right up till the end. He proved that he could read a crowd and play what they liked. No easy feat since the clients never returned the music worksheet, no matter how many times we asked for it. Earl had to go in blind but still managed to knock it out of the park. Impressive to say the least. * He rolled with it - although there was a predetermined timeline for this event, we had to make changes on the fly and Earl was flexible, didn't complain and was a team player through and through. * He worked with the ceremony guitarist ahead of time so the musician could plug into Earls system which provided superior sound for the pre-ceremony music vs the speaker the musician usually uses. * He has a great voice and stage presence - he can "direct" the crowd without being a mic hog. * He can take the heat, LITERALLY! It got up to 102 degrees during our event and he never broke a sweat. Yes, he was in a tent and had an umbrella for the ceremony but wearing all black - I don't know how he pulled that off!. * He dresses professionally - I've worked with DJ's who show up in their "good jeans", which is not acceptable to me - if you're getting paid, dress for the occasion. * He's a sincerely nice guy. He's got a big heart and you have his full attention when you are speaking with him. We were in the trenches together and he was a ROCK STAR - Just image how he is under "normal" circumstances! I can't wait to work with him again at our next event....in an air conditioned ballroom :oP If looking for an excellent DJ for your next event, look no further because you'll be working with the best! Earl was our DJ for my sister's wedding and he was 100% awesome. Professional, responsive to emails, prompt, organized, timely with agenda, easy to work with, thorough, clear, no surprises, flexible, kind...just some of the qualities that made my sister's special day the best it could be. DJ Earl is such a pleasure to work with. Earl is the GREATEST! First of all he was very patient with me as I didn't make the music list a top priority. I hired him months in advance. I didn't get back to him till the week of the wedding! (Sorry Earl). Anyway, he was very organized! He had some simple song lists to fill out, that i am sure would have been very helpful to him had I done this:( He designed a time line of the events for the day and that was so, above and beyond. It really made everything flow nicely. His MC service was a life saver as I didn't have a Wedding Coordinator. I gave him very little input. I described what kind of guests would be attending and he put together the most fabulous dance mix. He really knows what he is doing. All I heard was what a great DJ, how did you find him? People that I never expected to get up and dance were tearing it up! I also would like to add, that he was the first to share photos that were taken on My Beautiful Day. I was so anxious to see pictures...Since you have to wait awhile till your Photographer gets your photos back to you, this was very thoughtful of Earl. Your Wedding Day goes by so fast, It was nice to see how it looked from the pictures he took! He is so efficient, knowledgeable and organized!!! You really do get what you pay for, he was in the middle price range of the estimates I got for a DJ. I am so glad I didn't cheap out on this service, be cause he really did help everything run smoothly! read more

Our wedding was this past weekend and we hired Earl as our DJ. We could not be happier with his performance! More importantly, he made everything so easy! The whole night people were complimenting us on the music, which is a testament to his ear for classy and tasteful music, since he chose most of the songs (after we had guided him with a few selections of our own). Also, he organized our entire evening into a simple schedule of events that all of the other vendors followed. Our big night went off without a hitch, and it was because of his organization. Without him, our wedding planning would have been a nightmare! With him, he made us feel as though planning a wedding was actually pretty easy. Also, our photographer, Charles Le, who does tons of weddings every year, said that Earl is his favorite DJ to work with. He said that Earl was the best he had ever seen with regard to setting the proper mood, controlling the flow of the evening, and getting even the most boring crowds to participate in the fun. I totally agree and highly recommend Earl for any occasion! read more

DJ Earl was great! We just had him as the DJ at our wedding (042912) and we couldn't have asked for more. He met with us a couple of times before the wedding and was in frequent contact to ensure that the songs and genre of songs we wanted played were actually played. He provided microphones and portable speakers for our ceremony, and setup a great station inside for the reception. After the dinner, the dance floor was full the rest of the night. Earl did such a great job of feeling out the mood for which dance songs to play, and mixed it well between club songs and slow songs. He even managed to take a bunch of candid photos for us (we didn't even notice) and gave them to us after the wedding. I would highly recommend Earl to anybody looking to hire a DJ! read more

Earl is definitely one of the best DJ/MC. We just had our wedding at a Chinese restaurant. If anyone has ever been to a Chinese style reception, you will know how chaotic it can be. Earl was very good at working with my bridal party, very accommodating to all the changes and maintained the pace of the evening. Earl also has very good taste in music. We basically let him choose all the music at our reception and they were all great. I like how professional Earl is while he is on the job. Overall, I am very happy to have Earl as the DJ for my wedding and would definitely recommend him to other people. read more

Choosing DJ Earl was one of our first wedding vendor decisions, and we're definitely glad we choose him. He is professional, organized, and thoughtful. We never had to worry about the music or MC details because we knew we could count on him. As soon as you choose him, he will send you a packet to complete to get to know your music preferences and allow you to customize your wedding song selection. He's attentive, very responsive to email, and quickly adjusts to any last minute changes you make. Also, he takes pictures at the wedding and sends them to you shortly after the wedding, which is just an added bonus. We would definitely recommend him as a wedding DJ! Thanks Earl! read more

What makes Earl different ? He knows music. He knows people. He understands music and people and music is a passion - a mighty passion for him. I had a TV show years ago and wanted to use a tune to open the show and could not find the name of the tune so I could get permission. I called Earl; played the tune over the phone and in less than 10 seconds he "named that tune". Earl is class; friendly; intuitive and pro-active. Earl is at the top of the list; matter of fact, to me, he is by-far number one. ( I was also a magician at an event where Earl was the DJ and I listened to people around me and everyone just continued to praise his song selection !) read more

I'm telling you, there are no words to express how impressed everyone was with Earl. He was professionally, witty, engaging, and kept the party going incredibly. Earl played all of the songs that we asked for. Everyone was dancing and having a blast. As if that wasn't enough, he mailed us pictures that he took while playing the music. Earl is the BEST DJ around. I couldn't have asked for a better one. Thank you, Earl, from my husband, myself, and all of our partiers!! :-) read more

DJ Earl was awesome at my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary party this past weekend. I was fortunate to have found him last minute (about 3 weeks before the event) on Yelp. He was always very prompt in returning emails which made coordination very easy. He came out to the venue ahead of taking the job just to make sure he could get his equipment there. He even sent a CD to my mother-in-law containing some of the songs he got from her, just to make sure the quality was ok. He showed up to the party early and set up everything very fast. He was professional and always had a smile on his face. We probably didn't give him enough songs to work with but he managed to fill the party with great music. Thank you Earl! read more

Earl is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet! I almost wish he was my uncle or something he is so cool and sweet! He met with us to discuss everything before we decided he was the one and our meeting was so great I knew right then I wanted him for our wedding. We decided to go with him that night and we ended up meeting with Earl to pick songs and go over things and he was so helpful and gave great advice. He even made a schedule of events!! Wow! I was shocked lol he was a wedding planner too? I trusted him because he has been in the business for years and he did a great job. All of our guests loved him as much as we did. We even asked him to stay an hour later last minute and he did so without hesitation. Most people would ask for payment right then, but he said just get it to me when you can. Almost like he didn't even expect us to pay him for that extra hour. We put a check in the mail the day we got back from our honeymoon and we had a package waiting for us when we did. Earl had used his own camera to take pictures of us and he printed them out and mailed them to us and even had multiple copies for the fridge and one to frame and one for the desk. Literally the cutest thing ever! It was such a nice gesture since the professional pictures typically take a few weeks. We found DJ Earl at the Trudy's bridal faire last year. I was instantly charmed by his friendly and professional demeanor. He had a huge booklet and tons of information right on the spot. To be honest, I was just sold at his price and that his booklet clearly showed that he knew his stuff. Not only was Earl the least expensive DJ I found, he really felt genuine. Anyone who is planning a wedding knows how hard it is to find authenticity amongst vendors. DJ Earl communicated with me thought the planning process, dealt with my multiple changes, and made me feel as though the music part of my wedding was covered. To feel that something is covered when planning is truly a relief. He made my wedding timeline for me which I then gave to all of my other vendors! Not to mention he nailed it on the music and streamlined all of the points of the wedding, vows, entrance, bouquet toss, speeches, etc. Like wow.... and he send me a big envelope with a bunch of pics he snapped at the wedding. These were the first pics I received, that was really special. Thank you DJ Earl, you are awesome! read more

He even let us give him a cd of polish songs that we wanted and was sure to return it at the end of the night. Everyone danced all night and we received great compliments on his choice of songs from our guests. We definitely recommend him as your wedding dj! read more

GREAT DJ! We recently had our wedding at Clos LaChance and he was one of the recommended vendors. We are very happy with our decision to go with Earl. Definitely agree with previous reviews- you can trust that he knows what he's doing since he's been in business for so many years and he is very professional and ORGANIZED- which is super useful when you got 10 other vendors to manage. He sends you a list of songs so you can mark "definitely play" or "do not play" so that while you can give him free reign of the music. That way, if you don't want YMCA played on your special night, you can mark it down and not worry about anything else. His timeline was also very useful- and the one I sent to all my vendors to keep everyone on track. He was great with keeping us on track-meeting with us a month prior- but also open to our last minute changes. Lastly, he mailed us a package of photos after which was super cute- especially since the night is a blur and after you just want as many pics as possible, but usually your photographer will need more time. Very cute touch. Very nice guy and easy to work with! read more
