APU / Citrus College Metro Station - Morning at APU station July 2025

I usually find plenty of spaces in the mornings, and I've never had any issues with my car, even though there are quite a few homeless people around the area. I use the LA Metro app to pay for my parking fare, which is super convenient because I can just pay as I'm walking to the platform and don't have to stop at a machine. Around the time I ride, the trains aren't very crowded, which makes the commute easy and predictable. Plus, I save around 30-45 minutes compared to driving home during rush hour, which is a huge win for me. There are, however, several homeless individuals who sleep on the train. Most have been harmless, but occasionally the smell has been bad enough that I've had to get off and wait for the next one. One time I was rushing to catch the train and an ambassador told me to just hop on without tapping and of course that ended up being the day fare inspectors were checking. Thankfully, I showed that my TAP card was fully loaded, and the officer was understanding. Still, I wish fare enforcement was applied more consistently, because it doesn't feel fair when regular riders get checked while the homeless are overlooked and not asked to show theirs. Aside from that, most Metro staff and ambassadors I've met have been kind, professional, and quick to respond when issues come up. The trains themselves can get pretty dirty, though I really wish all stations had the automatic doors like the ones at Lake Station to help keep things cleaner and reduce people bringing large smell carts onto the trains. Overall, it's a reliable and affordable commute option with friendly staff, and it saves me a lot of time compared to driving. The system could use some improvements, but for convenience and time savings, it's been worth it.

They do have two security guards on the train platform for passenger safety here at this station during the day. It's an easy in, easy out parking structure. We didn't have any hassles on the way back when it was 9:30 pmish. As of now, this train stop is the end of the line. It's nice that I live in the Inland Empire, that we can drive here, leave the car, and take the train to LA without worry. It's nice to not have to drive all the way into downtown LA and that this train runs super late and early mornings from this Azusa stop. Perhaps they have improved this station? The inside of the train yes, a different story. Don't they check the train cars when stopping? The first train car we got into we quickly exited as someone puked on it. You would think trains are there long enough to be checked and even cleaned. If not, they should be. Also, does anyone check train tickets? A couple people on here sleeping that appear to just ride around and get off the train whenever they wake up or feel like it. No safety on the train when crazy people are on it. I Rate the train parking structure stop a 5. Security on platform a 5. Posted Cleaning crew 1. Inside train safety and cleanliness 1. So this is a generous even 3 stars. Much improvement needed. You get what you pay for to keep a good ride $1.75 each way.

Ah, the Claremont Metrolink Station! In my day, a station was a place of sweat and soot, where the air reeked of coal and the ground trembled beneath the weight of industry. Here, however, one finds a charming relic of 1927, its arches and tiles whispering of old Spain while inside dwells not the clamor of baggage men but, of all things, a museum of art! Imagine, waiting for one's transport while gazing at paintings instead of chickens being herded aboard. The convenience, too, is staggering--carriages of steel await with tickets conjured from glowing machines, where once I would have argued with a surly clerk scribbling in ledgers. The surroundings are pleasant and civilized, with cafés and markets close at hand; one might step off the train and be sipping a cappuccino within minutes, rather than gnawing on a hard biscuit beside the stables. Yet, I confess, the frequency of these trains is less than I should hope--one must time their arrival with a precision equal to a musket shot, lest they find themselves waiting longer than a sermon. Still, compared to the rutted wagons and bone-jarring rides of my own age, this station is a marvel, a polished portal between town and city. Four stars, then--not perfection, but a most respectable balance of beauty and utility, where past and present clasp hands across the tracks.

I've used this train stop recently, arriving via Metrolink to Claremont from LA…read more The actual station is very cute and charming, it makes for nice photo ops! Just 2 lanes - one going to San Bernardino, one to LA. Once you get off the train, you have to wait for it to leave the station so that you can cross across the platform and exit the station. The stop is right in the middle of downtown Claremont so that's a plus. You don't need a car to get around, just explore on foot. I love the Spanish style architecture of Claremont train stop, it's charming, pretty and it host the Art Museum inside (you enter from the other side). Unfortunately, there are no restrooms (except inside the Art Museum with paid admission!). Besides bring quaint and pretty, this stop doesn't have a lot to offer: some parking, benches, a machine to get tickets from. No one works here, no humans to announce trains, you're on your own!
