I have since retired and now use the train occasionally. I used to buy a monthly pass (discount for frequent users). Also available are daily, student/senior discounts, and special weekend prices too. Plan your trip by checking their website for arrival and departure times. The passes are not sold on the train, you must pre-purchase at the convenient kiosk. The Covina Station has permit parking, which must be purchased through the City of Covina. Across the street is a parking structure, daily passes can be bought at the machine located by the entrance. The train cars have an upper and lower seating sections, some areas have a table that seats four people. Food or drinks are permitted, but not sold on the train. They also have clean bathrooms, which is a plus when traveling with a family or distance more than an hour in duration. Enjoy the ride and don't forget to tell em that Rosemary sent ya!!

I take the train Monday through Friday from APU/Citrus College to Memorial Park at 6:30 AM and back…read moreat 3:30 PM. Since the Pomona stations opened, parking at APU has gotten much better. I usually find plenty of spaces in the mornings, and I've never had any issues with my car, even though there are quite a few homeless people around the area. I use the LA Metro app to pay for my parking fare, which is super convenient because I can just pay as I'm walking to the platform and don't have to stop at a machine. Around the time I ride, the trains aren't very crowded, which makes the commute easy and predictable. Plus, I save around 30-45 minutes compared to driving home during rush hour, which is a huge win for me. There are, however, several homeless individuals who sleep on the train. Most have been harmless, but occasionally the smell has been bad enough that I've had to get off and wait for the next one. One time I was rushing to catch the train and an ambassador told me to just hop on without tapping and of course that ended up being the day fare inspectors were checking. Thankfully, I showed that my TAP card was fully loaded, and the officer was understanding. Still, I wish fare enforcement was applied more consistently, because it doesn't feel fair when regular riders get checked while the homeless are overlooked and not asked to show theirs. Aside from that, most Metro staff and ambassadors I've met have been kind, professional, and quick to respond when issues come up. The trains themselves can get pretty dirty, though I really wish all stations had the automatic doors like the ones at Lake Station to help keep things cleaner and reduce people bringing large smell carts onto the trains. Overall, it's a reliable and affordable commute option with friendly staff, and it saves me a lot of time compared to driving. The system could use some improvements, but for convenience and time savings, it's been worth it.

They do have two security guards on the train platform for passenger safety here at this station during the day. It's an easy in, easy out parking structure. We didn't have any hassles on the way back when it was 9:30 pmish. As of now, this train stop is the end of the line. It's nice that I live in the Inland Empire, that we can drive here, leave the car, and take the train to LA without worry. It's nice to not have to drive all the way into downtown LA and that this train runs super late and early mornings from this Azusa stop. Perhaps they have improved this station? The inside of the train yes, a different story. Don't they check the train cars when stopping? The first train car we got into we quickly exited as someone puked on it. You would think trains are there long enough to be checked and even cleaned. If not, they should be. Also, does anyone check train tickets? A couple people on here sleeping that appear to just ride around and get off the train whenever they wake up or feel like it. No safety on the train when crazy people are on it. We parked at the Azusa downtown station and I had to buy a tap card (I have one already but haven't used it in years) at the station. There's also a TAP app but I didn't want to risk my phone dying and then I couldn't turn it on to use the app to get on the train. Good thing I got the card because my phone did die and I didn't bring a battery pack with me because the Rose Bowl had strict rules on the size of the bag you could bring in. Once we exited at the right station, we passed two lights and were able to easily catch the shuttle to the Rose Bowl for the concert. I've been to the Rose Bowl numerous times and I'm never parking there, I'd rather take the Gold Line to save on the stress and hassle. Only downside is you may have to leave your event a little early to beat the crowd out but it's worth it.

I have not stopped hating these drivers. Some of them are the worst people ever just loving to harass working people for no reason.

I was going to catch the Lyft or Uber to Rowland Heights for a Yelp Event when Danny suggested that I ride the Goldline from Union Station to Irwindale. Genius! Fortunately, Alana and I had caught the train from Union Station to San Diego in the past, so I was a bit familiar with this form of transportation. I had a Tap Card, so I didn't know exactly how much was deducted for the fare. Danny gave me good directions - just go to the back by the Fountain in the Courtyard of Union Station. I also followed the crowd from the bus stop to Union Station - We had to walk across a freeway entrance! This is such an efficient, clean, air conditioned, smooth, and safe mode of transportation! I saw other passengers bring their luggage, bicycles, and pets onboard. Strollers are also allowed - this is really convenient! I was able to pass through/view other cities that I might not ever have. I'd be willing to ride the train again and explore other towns!

This is the furthest stop from LA on the azusa side of the gold line that does not charge for parking or require a monthly pass. The lot fills up quickly but there is lots of parking in the surrounding area. The area is safe, and you don't have to worry about the hustle and bustle you might find at more frequented metro stops. Nestled next to City of Hope near the 210/605 freeways, access is easy and the place is both clean and well lit at night. I may or may not be on the gold line as I am writing this review, and I may or may not have just had a tasty saison at imperial western, the new brewery in union station. This may have inspired me to write about a metro station, pulling out the emotions and opinions I have held for quite some time.

This review covers both Azuza stops on the 'new' Blue line that starts/ends in Long Beach/Azuza…read more They are about a mile apart with one getting off on the 2nd to last stop to see downtown Azuza, and the last stop to go to Azuza Pacific University. There is a dedicated parking ramp at the last stop for commuters, with a $3.00 daily all day rate. There looks to be a planned shopping center connected to the rail station (with an outdoor courtyard), but no tenants were occupying it. It was pretty deserted. The downtown Azuza stop has more action, with businesses surrounding it. There were some recommended restaurants in the area that we would go to, if we are in the area again. As mentioned, this is now part of the new Blue A line. We took the train end to end, and it's a long 1;45 minute ride. It was a really hot day, but the train cars that were in, had strong working A/C. And we got the opportunity to pass by the 3 new underground stations in downtown LA that now connects the old Blue line (that terminated at 7th St station) to the old Gold line, connecting at Union Station.

The bus I take in the morning is definitely more reliable than the afternoon buses. The afternoon buses continue to be late or not show up. Today's bus line skipped a time, so a huge crowd had gathered. Instead of splitting us into two groups, we all had to cram into one and I'm pretty sure some people weren't allowed on since we were full. If the first bus had come, this wouldn't have happened. They should have more buses running at closer intervals, depending on how busy the routes are. Obviously the ones going to the schools need a lot. On another note, I've noticed that only some buses announce the next stop coming up. It would be nice if all of them did that.

Grand Opening, March 5, 2016: Free Rides to the public on the Gold Line…read more My husband and I decided to check out the grand opening ceremony for the Gold Line and ride for free... but apparently others had the same idea because it was really crowded, shoulder to shoulder on the train. With the new extension of the gold line (6 new stations have been added: Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa and by APU), it makes it that much easier to get to downtown LA. The Monrovia station has it's own parking structure (free) and is the largest of the new added stations. Train fare is as follows: $1 for reusable tap card (which you can load your bus and train fare on, tap card last about 5 years) $1.75 one way (per line) $7 all day pass (expires at 3 am the next day) Just to let you know right now that the Little Tokyo/ Art District is currently closed, but you can catch a bus from Union station to Little Tokyo and back if you plan on going out that way. The only negative thing I do want to mention about the Gold Line in general is their trains seem to be a little bit more narrow than the other lines, so when it is really full, it will most likely be standing room only during busy peak times. Hopefully with the new addition of all these stations, it will help to cut down the traffic (even a little would help) to and from DTLA. So glad it has finally opened and glad it is running smoothly on their grand opening day. My husband and I will definitely be traveling to DTLA more often! (future reviews to be added to Yelp)

One of the newer locations for the gold line to stop. It's got a free parking lot behind it, with…read moreno crazy time restrictions like some of the other lots. It's always clean and never too crowded. A short few steps from where the train drops off is the old station, which is interesting to look at. It looks like they're restoring it for a new purpose. There's a little park right there on the corner for kids to play. And it looks like some business are going up alongside the station. From the station it's about a mile walk to downtown Monrovia which isn't too bad and convenient if you want to grab some dinner and drinks.
