Scored tickets for Oasis last minute on a Sunday and for some reason my friend suggested we take the Gold Line to get to the Rose Bowl instead of driving there because it was already a risk that we would miss their set. We parked at the Azusa downtown station and I had to buy a tap card (I have one already but haven't used it in years) at the station. There's also a TAP app but I didn't want to risk my phone dying and then I couldn't turn it on to use the app to get on the train. Good thing I got the card because my phone did die and I didn't bring a battery pack with me because the Rose Bowl had strict rules on the size of the bag you could bring in. Once we exited at the right station, we passed two lights and were able to easily catch the shuttle to the Rose Bowl for the concert. I've been to the Rose Bowl numerous times and I'm never parking there, I'd rather take the Gold Line to save on the stress and hassle. Only downside is you may have to leave your event a little early to beat the crowd out but it's worth it. read more

All the drivers do is blast shockingly loud nonsense and harass the community intentionally at all times especially at the Azusa Citrus station where I live with no consequences and so you want to throw rocks at the train since there is no other no noise pure silence them you have them blasting at 2a 4a 6a anytime darn time. No other noise comes close and it still happening you think it stops then bam bam bam tons of shockingly loud noise about trains out of service doors closing or anything they can do to harass this side of town where there is zero noise you can hear a pin drop. I have not stopped hating these drivers. Some of them are the worst people ever just loving to harass working people for no reason. read more

I ride the train as often as I can without having to deal with traffic, parking, and drinking and driving. The one thing I hate are the cloth seats which who knows what's on them from all the homeless sitting on them prior to you. The MTA has to change to vinyl seat covers or all metal like New York city does, we need someone in MTA to think outside the box. read more

How about this idea? How about YOU PAY to take your nice clean clothes and sit in a mix of MRSA, lice, hepatitis, human feces, urine, scabies, streptococcus bacteria. And, the one who left it there always rides for FREE. Then, you go straight to your workplace carrying all the good stuff, THEN you top that by taking it it home to your families, sofa and bedspread after a hard day's work? AND, if you're lucky enough to live near one of those stations, they bring all that directly to you. No need to go to it. How can you possibly go wrong with that? And communities are fighting to bring this train to their cities? After riding the Gold Line it makes one feel like the guy in The Shawshank Redemption after he escapes from the prison via a sewer pipe. I just got back off the Goldline which was a huge time saver for me today. I recommend using the Gold-line train because it will save you time and money which is always good. Also by taking the train you help to keep the pollution down by keeping so many cars off of the busy roads and freeways. Less carbon emissions. I was lucky enough to catch the sunset, which was simply breathtaking. Such a beautiful site to see, I took the photo attached with no filter at all just an iPhone. I was overjoyed to see that there is an Azusa station. It is so much cheaper than Metrolink- why? Metrolink is like 12.00 r/t, Gold line is 2.50!! What the heck? You can go to little Tokyo, so easily, and there is a stop right there at MOCA at the Geffen. How convenient is that? You can plan a day trip around it!! The stations are clean, safe, and easy on and off. The Azusa station is right within walking distance of Target and DT Azusa. You use your TAP card. This train should be called The Urine Express. The trains smell awful and Citrus / APU Station parking structure is disgusting. The walls of the parking structure are scorched where people have been starting fires and there are urine trails everywhere. Definitely not a safe place. read more

It's incredible how neglected security is on this line. Things are okay when the Sheriff's present, but I've heard multiple accounts from women riding the line that have been aggressively harassed by the homeless population. Those little help line intercoms didn't make a difference. It was never this bad ten years ago, but it's gotten much, much worse. If you're a woman who rides during non-rush hour times, I'd strongly suggest you stay away. read more

Gold line is a perfect way to avoid LA traffic to a dodger game. A smooth 45-50 min ride to Union station and free shuttle to Elysian Park .

Gold line is now the homeless gathering place/motel. Every car is occupied by several homeless persons sleeping inside and piled up their bags. No one do/did anything to correct this. I also ride on red line and purple line, and did not see this happened. WHY only in gold line? Something must be done wrong!!! read more

Finally the gold line has opened in Azusa! Very clean and safe area. Friendly workers and places to sit. But be warned, parking is a MESS. The first 2 levels are 3 hour only spots. Half of the 2nd and 3rd are Foothill Transit parking only (You need a monthly permit. Can download online) and the top is Metro parking. Stairs and elevators to get down to the line. But can be very annoying in the morning during rush hour time. They really need to fix the 3 hour parking. Recently got a $51 ticket for parking in clean air spot, the only spots left to park. Also parked next to a mustang. Going to Irwindale now. read more

Where are the BIKE RACKS???!!! First of all, I'm thrilled that the train is up and running, the traffic to Pasadena drove me crazy, I mean, how many times can you call your friends and family before telling them the same thing over and over?! For me, I usually walk to the station, so I don't worry about the parking issue. However, if I'm running extra late (I'm always late), then I hop on my bike, but wait a minute... there are NO bike racks at the Azusa station... whaaaaat???? I asked a metro supervisor if its ok to park my bike at Target since it is across the street, he said they don't want us to use their property. So, I chained it to the stairs in the parking structure. I don't like that idea though. Bike racks would be wonderful... pleeeeaaaasse? :) read more

DISGUSTING!!! Even with a mask, the stench of urine hits you the minute you walk through the cab doors. You cringe sitting on the seats or touching anything as you don't know what's been there before. You feel so dirty after getting off the train you can't wait to get off your clothes and take a shower. I am a professional and will take the train to downtown LA when needed. After what I saw and experienced on the train last Thursday, it will be the last time I take the Metro Line unless something is done about the homeless taking over these trains for their personal shelter and toilet. The Gold Line to Azusa is only a few years old and people were all excited when it first opened to the public. It is a shame California State regulators have allowed the homeless crisis to wreak havoc to our society with inappropriate use of public property, impacting the lives of decent tax paying citizens. I love that there is now an alternative to driving for us people at the very edge of la county and the pkg structure is bigger than most but still, if u get here after 7:20am m-f, without a clean air vehicle (a rant I'll save for another day) ur SOL for a pkg space. Good news is that there is limited street parking. Just read the signs. Would have loved for this structure to be as big as Sierra madre since the next phase won't be completed for a long time but pkg like Sierra madre is unheard of. read more

It's wonderful to have decent transportation finally. I realize the parking situation needs to be addressed for the commuters so that they can easily park and take the train, and I got a friend to drop me off on the one week I had a work meeting in DTLA and in that respect, the whole experience was awesome. Unlike the silver streak bus that meandered down the 10 in the bumper-to-bumper car pool lanes, the train of course can avoid traffic totally. The boarding area is safe, and there's usually someone to help in case you need it. The trains are clean and run very frequently (every 13 minutes weekday, every 20 on weekends.) My friend and I took the Gold Line from Azusa last Sunday at around 11am and as the photo shows, the traffic wasn't good (this is on a Sunday, not nearly as bad as rush hour LOL). For only .35 off peak, it's a great way to go the track or mall, free shuttles take you the rest of the way. read more

Train Service from Azusa are pretty bad after 10am. 3 trains came by with out of service. What the he'll?? Every day Monday to Friday is the same thing. Can even get their schedule right. Because they are under union so they don't give a crappie about the customers. Train are not clean and smell like a dumb. Compare to other countries metro is the worst on the list and always have maintaince on line. Can't get it right. It been 3 month to fixed the track. When will it be done? 3 years from now???. Worse services all times. No security come and check for tickets. A lot of peoples don't pay. read more

Wife and I went from East Pasadena to Union Station. very clean and quick and safe. LA Sheriff around the train. Only $0.35 for Seniors. Union Station was a cool building. Walked 2 blocks to Olvera Street. Quaint. Four blocks to little Tokyo. It was crowded. From there it was 2 blocks to Metro line Back! Easy Peazy. read more

Was so happy this station was finally operating in Azusa, then I realized the parking was horrendous. Between the 3-hour, the reserved and the clean vehicle parking, there was very little parking left; since the structure is not that big anyways. Who the heck designed this? The growing number of homeless people sleeping, coughing, and yelling on the train has pushed me to give up on taking public transit. I'm fine with the new parking fees, I'm fine waking up a little earlier to catch the train, but I'm not fine having to constantly worry about mu health and physical safety while riding on the train. So until I hear of a new effort by Metro to reduce the number of homeless on trains, I'll unfortunately continue to drive my daily commute. read more

Love having a train close to home. There were some growing pains when the extension opened but kudos to Metro for addressing the issues and making adjustments so quickly (light speed for a government agency!). No complaints, especially when we whiz by the traffic on the 210. Can't wait for the next phase so we can get to Claremont. read more

Easy access and bus/shuttle connections here. Parking was full at about 6:40 when I woke up a little late. Only a fraction of the parking can be used all day or without a permit. With all the driving around looking for parking I would practically be halfway to work if I hadn't tried using metro. read more
