My review is about taking the Metro to the Rose Parade. The Metro in Arcadia was very well organized. They had tables set up specially for people going to the Rose Parade where they were helping customers who wanted to buy round trip tickets (1.75 each way per person). They would accept your pay at the table and you did not need to use the self service machines. They also had additional helpers to explain how to use the metro for people who were just here for the parade. The experience of taking the Metro to the parade was excellent, and I would highly recommend this type of transportation for getting to the Rose parade. This station is also walking distance from several hotels.

As someone who just relocated here from New York City, I am loving this station as well as the expansion of the metro gold line. No longer do I need to brave the horrendous LA traffic to get to the west side, and it's nice to not have to drive to Pasadena just to get on the station (because let's face it, if you drove to Pasadena you might as well as bite the bullet and drive the rest of the way). For now it only extends to Azusa Pacific University on the eastbound track, but I am looking forward to the expansion to Clairemont. The station is pretty spanking new, and I am loving the 2-story free parking lot. There are electronic signs telling how long it will take for the next train to arrive, and all the trains I've taken so far are on time. The TAP system (to pay fare) is pretty straightforward and easy to navigate. There is the USPS and 24 Hour Fitness a stones throw away, and In n Out is within walking distance. So when you have a chance, hop on the gold line from Arcadia station and enjoy the scenery both ways (as not all metro lines are above ground). Added benefits - you're also being healthier by taking more steps and more environmentally friendly by leaving a smaller carbon footprint. Good job LA, for trying to catch up to the rest of the world in terms of mass transit.

Brand new facility that's part of the Foothill Gold Line metro extension that connects to downtown LA. Grand opening is today and there's a bunch of free stuff and people. Expect there to be delays in traffic and such. After all the commotion goes away this would be a nice play to relax for a bit with lots of seating space and outdoor area. Parking is free!

Grand Opening, March 5, 2016: Free Rides to the public on the Gold Line…read more My husband and I decided to check out the grand opening ceremony for the Gold Line and ride for free... but apparently others had the same idea because it was really crowded, shoulder to shoulder on the train. With the new extension of the gold line (6 new stations have been added: Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa and by APU), it makes it that much easier to get to downtown LA. The Monrovia station has it's own parking structure (free) and is the largest of the new added stations. Train fare is as follows: $1 for reusable tap card (which you can load your bus and train fare on, tap card last about 5 years) $1.75 one way (per line) $7 all day pass (expires at 3 am the next day) Just to let you know right now that the Little Tokyo/ Art District is currently closed, but you can catch a bus from Union station to Little Tokyo and back if you plan on going out that way. The only negative thing I do want to mention about the Gold Line in general is their trains seem to be a little bit more narrow than the other lines, so when it is really full, it will most likely be standing room only during busy peak times. Hopefully with the new addition of all these stations, it will help to cut down the traffic (even a little would help) to and from DTLA. So glad it has finally opened and glad it is running smoothly on their grand opening day. My husband and I will definitely be traveling to DTLA more often! (future reviews to be added to Yelp)

It's always clean and never too crowded. A short few steps from where the train drops off is the old station, which is interesting to look at. It looks like they're restoring it for a new purpose. There's a little park right there on the corner for kids to play. And it looks like some business are going up alongside the station. From the station it's about a mile walk to downtown Monrovia which isn't too bad and convenient if you want to grab some dinner and drinks.
