The goldline needs more trains going into downtown in the morning! I've seen three trains going to apu/citrus college and no trains to downtown. The train to downtown will be packed... been waiting ten minutes!! This is miserable. I'm going to update this review with the good and bad. 11/29/2017 7:57am westbound. The train has no available seats. Three stops into the trip. Add a car to the trains metro! Dec 5.... westbound into downtown- another packed two car train. By the time we get the Duarte station, it's standing room only. What is so hard about adding either more trains or cars to the minimal number of trains that are on this route? In the time I waited for this train, two almost empty trains, were going to APU/Citrus. Dec 12, 2017 8:30am. Just missed the train, bummer for me. What is surprising is that there won't be another train for 16 minutes. Underserved / Overcrowded- that is the Gold Dec 14, 8:30am, westbound. I managed to get a seat!! Three car train! Yes! Great way to start the day! Dec 20, 7:46, eastbound.... 17 minutes Jan 11, 5:00pm, couldn't get on the overpacked two car, east bound train, this is ridiculous. Add more cars!

Riding the Metro was an amazing experience! If you are looking for a great way to relax and be transported to your next destination, take the Metro! I loved how cheap one ticket was. A one-way ticket is as low as three dollars, which is way cheaper than paying for gas or taking an Uber. Plus you can go as far as 30 plus miles without having to repay. While entering the station, everything seemed so well kept and clean. The exterior design was modern, which created a nice environment. I loved was that there were little box holders where you could put your bike while riding the Metro, which is extremely convenient. Another benefit is the parking structure, which was fairly large. You will not have to worry too much about finding parking, unlike other stations, like the Azusa one, where parking is very limited parking and the parking structure gets full quickly. Be aware that there are no restrooms at any of the stops, expect at Union Station. I found that out the hard way, unfortunately. I feel like the station should add bathrooms because it will make it extremely useful for many train riders, but I do understand the reasons why they might not want to have restrooms at every station. When boarding there were "guards" patrolling the train, which made me feel safe the whole time I was on the Metro. Los Angeles traffic is horrible. It can be especially draining when you have to deal with it on a daily, which then I would definitely recommend taking the Metro. You should take the Metro if you are someone who does not want to waste time in traffic or deal with crazy L.A. drivers. Plus, you will not have to worry about finding parking or paying for parking. This allows the Metro to be a very cost-effective device. I would also encourage people to take the Metro when wanting to explore L.A. or the beach, but live far from the destination. You will find many people who ride the bus are mainly men and women going to there jobs, with very few homeless people, which makes riding the train it is very peaceful. If you go mid-morning there are very few people on the train, allowing there to be plenty of seats available. Although, on the way back towards the station, during the evening, it will become extremely crowded. With it being so crowded, it does make it very difficult to find seats, so many will be forced to stand. The only weird thing that had occured when I was at the train station was the fact that the door I was in front of when I was trying to board had not opened and the train had left me behind. Mind you, this was the first time I have ever ridden the Metro. I was the only one at the station and when the train arrived I walked to the nearest door. I was waiting for the door to open when I realized the all the other doors had opened, but mine. Then the train left, leaving without me. It was kind of frustrating, but also funny at the same time. That was not that big of a deal, since a train comes every ten minutes. Overall I would love to use the Metro again. It is a great way transportation tool that is cheap and easy to accesses. I am definitely going to use it next time I want to go to L.A.

Parking lot full at 10:30 on a weekday. I drove there to check out the situation for a future trip.

Love the fact that its not far from me but parking situation is pretty bad, they need to make parking bigger and less expensive.

We parked at the Azusa downtown station and I had to buy a tap card (I have one already but haven't used it in years) at the station. There's also a TAP app but I didn't want to risk my phone dying and then I couldn't turn it on to use the app to get on the train. Good thing I got the card because my phone did die and I didn't bring a battery pack with me because the Rose Bowl had strict rules on the size of the bag you could bring in. Once we exited at the right station, we passed two lights and were able to easily catch the shuttle to the Rose Bowl for the concert. I've been to the Rose Bowl numerous times and I'm never parking there, I'd rather take the Gold Line to save on the stress and hassle. Only downside is you may have to leave your event a little early to beat the crowd out but it's worth it.

I have not stopped hating these drivers. Some of them are the worst people ever just loving to harass working people for no reason.

I take the train Monday through Friday from APU/Citrus College to Memorial Park at 6:30 AM and back…read moreat 3:30 PM. Since the Pomona stations opened, parking at APU has gotten much better. I usually find plenty of spaces in the mornings, and I've never had any issues with my car, even though there are quite a few homeless people around the area. I use the LA Metro app to pay for my parking fare, which is super convenient because I can just pay as I'm walking to the platform and don't have to stop at a machine. Around the time I ride, the trains aren't very crowded, which makes the commute easy and predictable. Plus, I save around 30-45 minutes compared to driving home during rush hour, which is a huge win for me. There are, however, several homeless individuals who sleep on the train. Most have been harmless, but occasionally the smell has been bad enough that I've had to get off and wait for the next one. One time I was rushing to catch the train and an ambassador told me to just hop on without tapping and of course that ended up being the day fare inspectors were checking. Thankfully, I showed that my TAP card was fully loaded, and the officer was understanding. Still, I wish fare enforcement was applied more consistently, because it doesn't feel fair when regular riders get checked while the homeless are overlooked and not asked to show theirs. Aside from that, most Metro staff and ambassadors I've met have been kind, professional, and quick to respond when issues come up. The trains themselves can get pretty dirty, though I really wish all stations had the automatic doors like the ones at Lake Station to help keep things cleaner and reduce people bringing large smell carts onto the trains. Overall, it's a reliable and affordable commute option with friendly staff, and it saves me a lot of time compared to driving. The system could use some improvements, but for convenience and time savings, it's been worth it.

They do have two security guards on the train platform for passenger safety here at this station during the day. It's an easy in, easy out parking structure. We didn't have any hassles on the way back when it was 9:30 pmish. As of now, this train stop is the end of the line. It's nice that I live in the Inland Empire, that we can drive here, leave the car, and take the train to LA without worry. It's nice to not have to drive all the way into downtown LA and that this train runs super late and early mornings from this Azusa stop. Perhaps they have improved this station? The inside of the train yes, a different story. Don't they check the train cars when stopping? The first train car we got into we quickly exited as someone puked on it. You would think trains are there long enough to be checked and even cleaned. If not, they should be. Also, does anyone check train tickets? A couple people on here sleeping that appear to just ride around and get off the train whenever they wake up or feel like it. No safety on the train when crazy people are on it. I Rate the train parking structure stop a 5. Security on platform a 5. Posted Cleaning crew 1. Inside train safety and cleanliness 1. So this is a generous even 3 stars. Much improvement needed. You get what you pay for to keep a good ride $1.75 each way.

Grand Opening, March 5, 2016: Free Rides to the public on the Gold Line…read more My husband and I decided to check out the grand opening ceremony for the Gold Line and ride for free... but apparently others had the same idea because it was really crowded, shoulder to shoulder on the train. With the new extension of the gold line (6 new stations have been added: Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa and by APU), it makes it that much easier to get to downtown LA. The Monrovia station has it's own parking structure (free) and is the largest of the new added stations. Train fare is as follows: $1 for reusable tap card (which you can load your bus and train fare on, tap card last about 5 years) $1.75 one way (per line) $7 all day pass (expires at 3 am the next day) Just to let you know right now that the Little Tokyo/ Art District is currently closed, but you can catch a bus from Union station to Little Tokyo and back if you plan on going out that way. The only negative thing I do want to mention about the Gold Line in general is their trains seem to be a little bit more narrow than the other lines, so when it is really full, it will most likely be standing room only during busy peak times. Hopefully with the new addition of all these stations, it will help to cut down the traffic (even a little would help) to and from DTLA. So glad it has finally opened and glad it is running smoothly on their grand opening day. My husband and I will definitely be traveling to DTLA more often! (future reviews to be added to Yelp)

It's always clean and never too crowded. A short few steps from where the train drops off is the old station, which is interesting to look at. It looks like they're restoring it for a new purpose. There's a little park right there on the corner for kids to play. And it looks like some business are going up alongside the station. From the station it's about a mile walk to downtown Monrovia which isn't too bad and convenient if you want to grab some dinner and drinks.
