Jim, the owner, came to our rescue multiple times! My husband is severally disabled and I had to get him to a DR appt right away. I was able to get a van from Jim right away while another agency was not able to due to the upcoming 4th of July weekend. He was also a bit cheaper than the other place too. I called Jim a few times with questions while using his van and he always picked up. What a relief! I was supposed to return the van the following afternoon but was at the DR office all day long and Jim's place would be closed before I could get there. But he was gracious when I told him what happened at the DR's office (an absolute nightmare!) and he allowed me to return the van the next morning-WITHOUT CHARGING ME! Then I was stranded without a ride home and he placed the Uber ride for me. What a great guy! I highly recommend Jim at San Diego Mobility Vans! Important note to users-the ramp in the van we used was 30" wide; which I understand is the normal ramp width. Some wheelchairs are wider so be sure you know the size of your chair. The keyword for our experience with San Diego Mobility Vans must be "efficiency" because I imagine that "courtesy" is already taken. Jim responded quickly to emails, phone calls, and texts, met us at the airport, and presented us with a very clean Dodge Caravan which had its own personality, complete with little squeaks and some stubbornness in the ramp deployment, nothing serious. These items were reported to Jim on returning the vehicle and he promised to look into them immediately. Reminder to potential clients: Bring your own disabled placard (and remember to take it back). Jim was so wonderful when we needed to rent a van that was wheelchair accessible to drive to AZ last summer. We needed a dependable van that could handle the 110 degree heat and the one he rented to us worked beautifully. As a bonus, he noticed our own van, which I drove there to pick up the rental, was smelling funny. He looked under the hood and found my radiator was nearly bone dry. The owner, Jim, bends over backwards to help his clients (residents and/or visitors alike) to rent a handicap van when needed. He works with his clients to make it easy for them to obtain the rental van which makes their life easier. I have also heard, and witnessed, how he helps organizations in finding the right van for purchase at a fraction of the cost of a brand new one - making it affordable to help the disabled (most financially strapped).
