APRIL 2026- I took my 2023 Nissan car into Pan Am Automotive to have Jay put on new Nissan front end brake pads to include the hardware and shave the rotors . What his mechanic ended up doing was giving me generic brake pads not using new hardware and not shaving the rotors so here we are two days later and my front end brakes are still squeaking. I called back Jay on the phone told him that my brakes were still squeaking he stated to come back in he would charge me again just minus the labor he stated that I might need new rotors well clearly he should have done that work from the get-go and we wouldn't be in the situation but he wants to charge twice for brake pads and to put on hardware and rotors that wasn't in the original price. The price I paid was in the ballpark of $325 for him to put on generic brake pads with old hardware and not shaving the rotors if you're going to get a brake job you got to do it the correct way all the way not half ass . Days later I went into the Nissan dealership where the certified Nissan mechanic stated by looking at my brake pads that they were not Nissan brake pads and that the mechanic had used old hardware and did not shave the rotors down like he was supposed to hence the reason why they're still squeaking. So, no, Jay and his mechanic are not honest people.

Not a repair I can do from home on this truck so it was off to Yelp Projects to get a quote for service on a worst-case scenario repair. Mark from Mendo Motorz contacted me back and did just that. I spoke with him on the phone and we went over what I tried and what it might be, and I was satisfied enough to have my vehicle towed in that afternoon. Knowing that my business depends on my vehicle running, they verified my suspicions before closing and Mark let me know that it would take a couple hours to fix come morning. Sure enough, it was ready before noon the next day, and considering a fuel pump replacement on my F150 requires dropping the fuel tank to do, it was a very quick turn around! The quality of the work was superb and communication was excellent the whole way through. The price for parts and labor was also well below some of the other quotes I was given which was only icing the cake! There is a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on parts and labor, but I'm sure it won't be an issue. Top notch garage. I would recommend them to anybody.

So, I went to Brake Works and they did a real evaluation and said, "Your brakes are fine." Wait? What? Realistically, they could have recommended a number of levels of repair and I would have agreed because...well, I want my brakes to work without worry and I have the auto mechanic skills of a substitute host of The View. Additionally, I had a hanging under carriage felt piece which I'm guessing is required for sound proofing or governmental overreach that has fallen off in chunks from speed bumps, steep driveway grades, or some form of auto part rapture, which I asked them to disentangle and remove.. They did so with a silent knowing recognition to the idiocy of the design. But here's the thing. They refused payment. No charge for anything, despite my protestations. So in summary, I went to a car shop asking for and ready to pay for services and the shop said, "No charges, come back to us in the future when you really need work." Damn skippy, I will. Honest mechanics should be proclaimed. Thanks Brake Works. i will be back.
