This is the spot. Situated off of Elliston Place, it's a historic area within itself, located in a nice place in the city. It makes sense why Samurai has been around for 40+ years. Everything is top-notch and you feel the warmth and true genuine excitement for food throughout the restaurant. The service here is great. My boyfriend and I love coming here for a relaxed date night. Get the "Like Butter" sushi roll or the "Choo Choo" roll...or both! And a glass of Sapporo to top it off.

Have been back a few more times and am consistently impressed with the quality and taste! The Like Butter roll is my favorite! Small restaurant size with indoor seating and to-go options. Free parking available on side streets, paid parking also available along streets. Friendly service from the restaurant owners. Would say it's one of the best spots for sushi rolls in Nashville!

Me and the wife love this place. Small and quaint and we see the same people working there every time. Gives off the vibe that is a family business and we love that. Have been coming here for over 3 years now and it is consistently good. Never a bad meal. Samurai Sushi will always have a special place in our hearts. :)

Whenever I get food from this place it has always been through Uber Eats. This time I decided to eat indoors as I was in the area with my partner. Walking in, there is a sushi bar where you can sit in front of the chef as they make fresh sushi, or you can sit on the left where the tables are. We opted for the table. There are photos and varying art pieces ranging from news articles about the restaurant, past visitors or shots from Japan that tie into the experience. We ordered the Hurricane Roll, Jane Roll, Eel Roll, Yellowtail roll, Smoked Salmon Nigiri and another Nigiri that I cant remember(Maybe Tuna). The Hurricane roll was the best! The Jalapeño added a perfect contrast and kick to the fish. After having it delivered and eating in person, I have to say that it tastes better in person vs having it delivered. If you're looking for sushi in Midtown, Samurai will not disappoint.

11/2022 and still our favorite! They have moved a few doors down ... inside really warm and cozy. Today was a carry out day, ordered Sashimi, multiple cut rolls and hand rolls. All good and fresh - prices have gone up a bit so not the steak it used to be, but imo worth the $$. Note ordering using online ordering the prices are higher per item vs walking in and ordering. Service was friendly and fast! Much better than their other location in Germantown... We still highly recommend.

Samurai Sushi, a local legend in the sushi game here in Nashville! I have not had the best luck in finding solid sushi spots since moving here, so I jumped at the opportunity to visit Samurai with a local pal of mine. There are (3) Samurai locations around the city in Germantown, East Nashville and this location on Elliston in Midtown. There has been some mixed news about this location being permanently closed and now the latest as of February 2022 shows that have re-opened and are undergoing a full renovation. I hope the latter is the truest of all the news, as this would be an absolute go-to for me! However, I could understand if they are closing this location as the building they are in is pretty worn down and vacant outside of Samurai. With their recent reopening, they have limited seating in the front part of the restaurant, none at the sushi bar itself. Seating is 4 tables, a few 4 tops and one 2 top. So, best bet would be pick-up or take out right now. Additionally, they are still waiting on their liquor license, so drink options are limited. We happened to walk in right as someone was getting up from a table, so we sat down quickly. The owner was our server and she was very friendly and efficient. She made sure we had what we needed and she was also managing the constant line of drivers picking up food, to-go orders and pickups. For such a small place, they have a pretty healthy sized menu that features 40+ rolls, 15+ nigiri/sashimi options and 10+ appetizers/salads/soup. We started with edamame and Takoyaki, which is friend octopus balls. They were absolutely heavenly and clearly freshly fried, because they were HOT! From there we jumped right into a few rolls. I had and enjoyed the Volcano Roll and a Philadelphia Roll. The Volcano roll was my favorite of the two. While I know Philly rolls are basic, this was a little more basic on flavor than I was hoping. Pricing isn't terrible on the rolls with some of the basic rolls being around $7 and majority of the special rolls being around $12. Overall, very happy to have visited Samurai. I am excited to see what this location does in the future. Definitely a local sushi spot that will be a go-to for me in the city!

Located in the heart of Nashville this sushi spot is not only budget friendly but the food was phenomenal . Sushi tastes super fresh and will have you ordering more, trust me! Yum yum roll is my recommendation for one of the rolls . Chilli edamame heads up you might as well ask for a spoon because the sauce on bottom is that good. (Dip your sushi rolls in ) not much of an ambience or a vibe but for the price this place is way better than a 5 star restaurant. The service for our first time was really good and the food came out pretty fast . For the price and the food give this place a try

Favorite little sushi place in Nashville! It's a casual dining spot and is very quiet. The staff is always SO nice and the food comes out quickly which is great! The food itself is always unbelievable, doesn't even matter what you order! The only downside is that there isn't a designated parking area but there's a bunch of street parking around and i've never had an issue finding a spot!

We started off with a round of champagne and a bottle of red wine for dinner. We tried a variety of dishes since we were told that the set up is family style: Hamachi Crudo: 10/10 one of the best I've ever had! Super fresh and the sauce paired well with it. Bluefin Tune Crudo: 8/10 It was really fresh and well prepared, but I've had better elsewhere. I typically prefer bluefin tuna sashimi or nigiri anyway. Tuna Crispy Rice: 9/10 This was such a fun and delicious way to eat spicy tuna! All of the seasonings made it packed full of flavor. Tomahawk Ribeye 9/10: This was insanely tender, and well seasoned. Tip: ask for lemon wedges to sprinkle some lemon juice on it--thank me later. Broccolini 8/10: well prepared, and I loved the lemongrass garlic chili that topped it East Side Shrimp 7/10: These were well cooked and well seasoned. Loved the salad placed underneath it. Wagyu Tartare 8/10: It was well prepared and loved that it's paired with nori and rice. Wished it had a bit more punch to it in terms of seasoning. Crab Fried Rice 8/10: this was delicious but still say it's a solid 8. Beautifully prepared! Korean Hot Wings 2.5/10: I could tell that it was well cooked, but it was insanely salty; it was practically inedible. Hurricane Fries 9/10: These were so delicious! You are immediately hit with the smell of truffle, which made my mouth water. Packed with flavor! Brussels 7/10: These were well roasted, but the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking. I highly recommend trying this place out!

By the bar we got to see some of the dishes being made. Great date night spot. Limited parking. This is a tapas spot and our serve did a good job recommending how many dishes to get. The only reason Noko is not getting 5 stars is because the server said that they would time out the dishes for us, so it was best to place our entire order all at once. However, we got 3 dishes and then it took about 30 minutes for other two to come out. Maybe we were eating too fast but felt like we were waiting a while for our food. The food itself was absolutely delicious. There was nothing we ordered that I did not like. Some favorites include the burnt ends lettuce wraps and Korean chicken wings. The Sando, shrimp and tuna crispy rice was also spectacular. The tuna was so flavorful and refreshing on the tuna crispy rice. The sauce of the east side shrimp really makes the dish. I'm not a huge shrimp person but this was really good. This is a must go to spot in Nashville and would definitely want to come back.

A good amoutn of tables, but does not feel too crowded. To get Shabu Shabu, you either sit at the bar or you grab a table that is condusive to shabu shabu. If you have multiple people ordering shabu shabu with different broths, you should grab the bar. The New York strip is better than the short rib, in my view. I did the miso broth, which is not overly salty, like some. A definite win for me. Adding in the spicy chile oil, fresh garlic, and scallions added the proper kick to the broth. The handroll was truly a handroll. She said she preferred when they sent it out rolled, as there was more rice than she normally likes. But the salmon itself was done well and tasty. The lamb lollipops were excellently done. I would return for this alone. Having numbers on the drinks is likely authentic, but I love creative names. The 35 is a Japanese twist on an Old Fashioned. The sishito pepper is a nice touch as a garnish (or appetizer?). The 34 was even better. It did not quite hit the high note of a similar drink at Sushi-San, but it did not disappoint. I can safely recommend this to anyone wanting to get shabu shabu without the all you can eat buffet option you get at shabu shabu on West End.
