Really confused. I always call the service company I had a positive experience with first so I called Dave at Samurai plumbing about replacing my daughter's broken water heater. He was local and did such a great job about three or four years ago and he was very friendly. Absolutely amazing service by David. Over the phone service that was just priceless. He messaged back saying he would like to speak to me instead of the other plumbers that quoted $225-$250 flat cost. I called and David wanted to see photos of my issue by phone. Sent pictures to him and he said all I needed was to turn off the water main in the house. He then instructed me on how to replace the fill valve and to properly re-pressurize the water lines and check for leaks. David basically did the repairs I needed without a service call. My experience was a bit odd, I received a quote to remove an old dishwasher and install the new one. We also asked for the new hardware on the kitchen sink to be installed. We scheduled the work to be done yesterday. When Dave arrived and took a look he said we needed to install an electrical panel first before the dishwasher could be installed. He said the garage disposal needed the electrical panel as well and that underneath the sink the pipe was leaking. We understood he could not install or remove the dishwasher so We asked if he could just install the kitchen faucet and fix the pipe and he said he didn't feel comfortable and refused the job entirely. I asked for clarification by phone the same day for why the kitchen faucet and pipe couldn't be fixed and without explanation he said that he would have to refuse the job. ***update he called me today after he read the review to say that he didn't feel like it was safe and that it would be better for someone else to complete the entire job. read more

I have been using Dave for three years and he has exceeded my expectations EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. He is friendly, professional, honest, and most importantly, a man of his word. A plumber like that is hard to find. His prices are unbeatable! I can confidently say he is the very best (and I'm hard to please)! Water heater replacement 10/2018- My water heater is located in a carpeted garage (AKA man cave). It had a slow leak which I was unaware of due to the carpeting. When discovered, due to a foul smell, Dave came to the rescue. He helped rip out the carpet, replace the water heater, and replace the dirty/stinky/moldy drywall. He went above and beyond his job duties! When asked about it, his response was "I want to do the job right." Most shockingly, he did not ask for more than the amount quoted. Of course no good deed goes unnoticed so I made sure to compensate him for the extra time and effort. It's been over a year and the water heater is going strong! Broken pipe repair during COVID 7/2020- I have been doing my best to quarantine and limit interactions with others. Unfortunately, the pipe in my backyard burst and water was spewing everywhere! I was hesitant on getting it repaired due to COVID, but I didn't have much of a choice. Dave immediately put all my worries to ease. Dave once again saved the day for us. The last time we called him was 7 years ago, glad to see he is still on the job and we were able to find him on yelp. We initially had what we thought was a clogged drain, but it turned out to be a much more serious issue. We called the first plumbing company and we thought they had cleared the clogged drain. A couple of weeks went by, and the smell in our kitchen was getting worse and worse--like rotten trash/sewer. It turns out the first plumber had pierced our sewer drain line in two separate places because he was too careless/aggressive when he went to clear the drain line. David, the owner at Samurai, visited, gave us a fair quote and was able to fix the problem the same day. (Our 3-year-old found the drain opening 'cleanout,' I guess it's called, on the side of the house, and stuck golf balls in there until we realized he was doing it). You can see by the pictures of the plastic golf ball jammed in there and the only way to fix it was remove a section of the pipe and replace it with a new pipe. While winding down the home remodel, I noticed there were a few things around the house bugging me to a point I couldn't sleep. Call me crazy but, the gas line for my inside dryer stuck out of the wall too much. This would cause my dryer to be too far away from the wall. I looked all over Yelp and came across Samurai plumbing and a few others. They all had near perfect reviews, some quoted higher/lower than others, but, I decided to go with Dave because of his attention to detail during the home visit - even with something as small as shortening a gas line, and willingness to work within my budget. Dave showed up promptly and was ready with floor protectors (I have brand new floors), his tools and all the parts he needed. He was very knowledgeable with plumbing and gas, worked meticulously, cleaned up and took the trash with him. He was even kind enough to help me move the washer and dryer back in from the garage. Long story short, we recently moved into a fixer upper that was built in the mid-70's. We experienced a small plumbing issue that lead to a bigger one, and then a bigger one. Can't give enough thanks to Dave, who we found on yelp and was able to expertly save the day! Emergency 1: After going a full night with our shower just running, we contacted Dave first thing in the morning and he came right away. He quickly replaced our broken main water shutoff valve with a beautiful quarter turn ball valve, and as a bonus, replaced part of a badly corroded pipe we didn't know about. With our water shutoff now working, we decided we could try our own hand at fixing the shower. Emergency 2: NOPE. At this point we couldn't turn the main back on, otherwise scalding hot water would have shot straight out of the wall at full pressure. We called Dave once more that night because the shower valve was so old that it (and all its parts) had been discontinued. Without hesitation he helped us set up a game plan to get everything back into working order and scheduled to come first thing in the morning again. Every action he made was well thought out, and he explained the What's and Why's every step of the way. He measured out the path of least resistance (and least costly wall repair), and went to work from the opposite side of our shower. A few hours later, we had a new Moen in place and our plumbing crisis was calmly averted. Throughout our entire experience with him, Dave was professional, patient, fair, and most importantly extremely easy to communicate with. We stumbled upon his company on Yelp, but I don't think we could find better service or better rates anywhere else. I get it that David is a zealous Trump supporter, but I just need a plumber to do the damn job, I don't need a plumber to bring his political views into my home. Keep it to yourself and don't mix politics with your business, that's very bad practice. I find that very unprofessional, and even if he only graduated high school like he told me, he should have known better. It's not my responsibility to educate him on this, it's a common sense and good business practice that he should have known from day one. We had a leaky pipe outside our house where the shutoff valve, pressure reducer/regulator and hose all tie together before entering my house. Received a response within minutes. I sent a photo of the problem and a quote was returned almost immediately. A time was scheduled and we kept in touch via text. He showed up on time with parts/tools needed. We needed to contact the city to shutoff the main water which delayed things a bit. But once done, he went to work. Most plumbers wanted to come to my house first even though I was very specific in what I needed and included a picture. David was the 3rd plumber to respond to me with a price, and since his reviews were good, I setup the repair. He showed up 15 minutes late, which is completely fine, but he took the time to let me know in advance. I appreciated that. The work looked solid, a lot of effort went into it. It looks like it was done the right way. If I could give 4.5 stars I would, that is because there was a miscommunication on the total cost.
