I love sandwiches and knew I had to try the pastrami. It was fantastic. I've been trying to cut back on caffeine and I instead went with one of their refreshers on the menu. It was I believe and 'Blue and Grapefruit' - and that wasn't my favorite as someone who doesn't really care for grapefruit that much. I got it thinking it would be diluted a bit, SO, if you like grapefruit, I'm sure it's perfect for you. I also got a peanut butter oreo pie and wish I took a picture of it...but I devoured it too quick to even think about it. For me, that dessert was the definite highlight of the cafe. I'll definitely come back on more weekends when I have a craving for pastrami.

When we arrived it looked closed but the Open sandwich board was out. There are two spaces - sort of a cafe vibe (it's not a trendy instagrammable kind of a situation) up front and a bigger open space with tables beyond that. Not a ton of natural light coming in. It feels like a comfortable, laid back neighborhood place to work or hang out. There were families, couples, friends, people working alone. I think Press Waffles was on site, and there was a cooler with breakfast sandwiches you could have heated up if you were dining in. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely stop in!

We entered to find a cozy, warm feeling space, tight with tables and a large bar. The decor is thrift store Grandma eclectic. We later realized there was a separate room in the back with one larger table that could host a small group. Otherwise, you're looking at parties of 4 sitting comfortably or couples. They've filled in lots of little details to bring the space to life, including a shiny tin (maybe real, maybe not) ceiling, lamps, mismatched tables and chairs. The music started out with jazz, but eventually segued into funk as the evening went on. They played some cool stuff, but the volume made it hard to talk to the person sitting directly next to me. Cool that you can bring in your vinyl and they'll play if after a cleaning or you can request tunes. We ordered at the bar, which I guess was the way its done. I tried an Aviation and we ordered one of the tinned fish on offer - a Portuguese trout in dill cream sauce. I found the price for the fish a tad high, since the accompaniments are a little slim - we got far too few crackers, a half dozen withered red grapes, some cheese (good, but needed more), 5-6 tiny gherkins and 4 pickled peppers. We didn't get plates or napkins, so it was a bit messy and awkward to eat. We did request more crackers and got a generous basket full. The fish was excellent. My friend got a wine she seemed to enjoy. My second drink was a Paper Plane, which was also very good and well balanced. I ordered some olives to fill in our blank spots and we got a nice assortment, primarily green and two skewers to stab them with. While we we there we experienced some really loud guests at the bar, which also made it hard to talk. I will go back to try the daytime experienced, morning food items and coffee. We liked the overall feel of the place and the concept, we just thought there were some small kinks they could work out.

Food: Ordered my usual London Fog Tea Latte, with a little lavender, a little vanilla, and extra frothy. I would have liked it served in a mug, but they only offer paper cups. The drink was nicely made. I am used to having the tea steeped first and then finished with frothed milk. In this case, the milk was frothed first and the tea bag was added afterward. The result was a very frothy drink, but the tea flavor was a bit weaker than I prefer. Service: I arrived close to noon and the place was about half full. There was only one person working, taking orders, handling payment, and making drinks. Because of that, it took a while to place my order. That said, the person doing all the work was super friendly and helpful, and took the time to make the drink properly. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is relaxing, with lots of big windows and natural light. There are several different seating areas with various table and chair configurations. There is counter seating, high tops, and overstuffed leather chairs. It was a cold day, but the space was very comfortable inside. Everyone was having quiet conversations and being respectful of the environment. Overall, a nice visit. It would benefit from a bit more staffing to speed things up, and ceramic cups for hot drinks would be a great addition.
