They are knowledgeable, compassionate, and have always provided excellent care. They've been a huge part of our family's life, and we're incredibly grateful for them. Unfortunately, something has changed on the administrative side. Over the last several visits, there seem to be new fees for everything, and it's become shockingly expensive just to receive routine medical care. It feels like every appointment comes with another unexpected charge, which is frustrating and disappointing after being loyal patients for so many years. What made our most recent visit even more frustrating was arriving early for our 11:15 appointment to find the office practically empty. Despite that, we were told that although they knew our appointment was at 11:15, my daughter wouldn't be seen until 11:30--even with only one patient ahead of us. It's hard to understand why appointments are running behind when the waiting room is nearly empty. The doctors are still exceptional, and this review is in no way a reflection of the care they provide. My concern is with the administrative side of the practice. I hope management takes a hard look at both the increasing costs and the scheduling because it's becoming much harder for long-time families like ours to continue coming here.

He has been a calming and positive part of our family's life since the day our son was born 4 years ago. Being first time parents, Dr Irwin always takes a moment to ask about us. How are we feeling? How are we getting along? My husband recently had dental surgery and was still recovering when my son came down the flu. While in the office, Dr Irwin noticed my husband's discomfort and took a few extra minutes to talk about what he was going through. A doctor is only as good as the support staff and this one is top notch. Every single interaction we've had with the front desk staff has been 100% positive and helpful. If Dr Irwin isn't available to see our son when he's sick (though, quite often, he is available) the other doctors we've seen in the same office are caring and thorough and put us and our son at ease. The on call nurses who are available to talk to us over the phone have always been very informed and great communicators. We even visited with an in-house lactation consultant here. The office itself is clean and bright and stocked with entertaining items for the kids. The front office is 2-sided - one side for healthy kids and one side with its own entrance for sick kids. Given that she was hospitalized and intubated at 13 months, we were obviously terrified and I advocated for a full workup. I specifically asked for a urinalysis to rule out a UTI. Marci refused and told me, "kids this age don't get UTIs." She told us we needed to ride out the virus. After SEVEN days of my daughter continuing to spike fevers and be in pain, I took her to CHLA tonight. She has a UTI. A urine test may have been inconvenient and uncomfortable, but it would not have hurt to rule it out. When a toddler has ongoing high fevers without an obvious source, sometimes you have to look beyond the most obvious explanation--especially when a parent is telling you something isn't right. I specifically advocated for the test that ultimately diagnosed my daughter, and I was dismissed. If this review helps even one child avoid suffering for an extra week because a parent's concerns are taken seriously, then it's worth writing. Shame on you, Marci.
